I guess I must be crazy then.

You know, this Quick Look is making me want to play this game WAY more than before.

In a lot of ways, this seems like a natural evolution of Majora's Mask.

Even though this was quite short, I found myself liking the story and ending way more than the actual Dead Space 3 campaign/ending.

I have played maybe a 3rd of Dead Space 1, none of 2, none of 3. Would like to go back and finish Dead Space one but I got heart attacks whenever I played it for more than 10 minutes. I evidently don't have a high threshold for scary games.

Dead Space 3 was mind-numbingly boring and stupid, couldn't even complete the damn thing. But this dlc looks great.

@animasta: Now that I know what happens at the end of Dead Space 3, I want to play that game about three or four times more than I did before. For once, I am glad that I am crazy.

Brad and Patrick seem crazier than Isaac ever was. Their obsession with this moon business is uncanny. It really, really wasn't that crazy guys, I think you're projecting a bit?

I'm with ya. It's not like it comes out of nowhere either, even in the beginning on the derelict ships they make a lot of nods towards the moon. I remember thinking that early on that it would come into play, also that it looks insane. When you first get a glimpse of the planet out of the window the camera holds on the Moon for such a long time and then moves down to the planet itself.

I didn't think the ending was brilliant, I also didn't think it was insultingly bad. Dead Space 3 still plays great and has some excellent environments to run around in and have some Dead Space fun in. It's really as simple as that.

I just beat Dead Space 3 yesterday, and I was left wondering what exactly @brad was up in arms about on the Bombcast. Sure, the story was dumb, but in a pretty typical sci-fi schlock way. I did not find it especially dumber than the handful of other games I've played this year.

It was perhaps the only good boss battle in the game, if only for its absurdity. Besides, there's plenty more aspects of Dead Space 3 that are worth harping on about before the ending anyway.

I disagree with Brad here. This is coming from a huge fan of Dead Space; read the books/comics; watched the movies; played all the games, and I just want to say, not only would this be a terrible way to end Dead Space (and I don't imagine it being that because it doesn't seem as if it is), but it's also just not very good DLC; certainly not for 10 dollars.

If this were five, then maybe it'd be worth it. Furthermore, the theme from Alien is the same theme from Aliens; they're the same song. While I was disappointed in the way they conveyed the characters in three, 'cause I've cared for almost all of the characters in the series so far, except for the majority of them in three, I think the whole moon things is kind of dumb, it's a bit exaggerated as to how dumb it is.

Three, to me, was merely great; I don't think three was as good or as special as the first two though, and while I wasn't entirely engrossed in the ending, to my surprise, I just think the whole moon thing and 'how bad it is' is exaggerated.

A lot of these late-gen games are getting a far harsher reception than I think they deserve. Dead Space 3 is solid. Not stellar, but definitely worthy. I hope the franchise isn't canned. EA came out and said they were happy with sales and it remained an important IP. Whatever that means now.

Considering Dead Space has already proven it can make ship and colony sized monsters in the Gargantuan and the Hive Mind, the idea of a moon sized monster is just basic escalation.

Dead Space 4 takes place inside a Necromorph planet that is constantly gestating necros to kill you. Until you go to the planet's core and shoot it with a plasma cutter 3 times.

Hmm, the setup actually sounds a little interesting. Also, it's pretty clear that Brad and Patrick haven't played this in coop as Carver, because Isaac being psychologically warped into that Hell with all of the little shadows attacking him is what happens during the coop side-missions for Carver.

I'd play Dead Space 4: Planet Crackers. Not that I ever have played a Dead Space game but the term planet cracker is really cool to me.

And yes moons aren't planets I just like the term.

- Adds microtransactions to $60 game

- Still charges you for the DLC

Thanks EA

and christ, it's such a shame to see what this series is now. You could have told me this was Gears of War for most of it and I'd believe you. (ok I wouldn't, but you get the point)

Oh, and this would have been perfect for Dead Space 3's credits sequence, if not played over the battle itself.

Wow that actually looks like fun instead the somewhat boring experience DS3 turned out to be. Too bad its at the end of a game you have to pay $60 for first to get it.

I noticed this too. I was a little bummed to see that scenario repeat in the DLC. They must not have played those co-op missions as Carver.

@samdrugbringer: The first two games are legitimately awesome, and are probably real cheap at this point. Definitely worth picking up, even if neither of them feature combat against celestial bodies.

Ok the moon thing really wasn't that ridiculous, especially in a game where you fight mutated zombie people created by statues in space.

"It's not just the ridiculousness of fighting a moon its also the basic dramatic issues, you rob him of his heroism, you kill off the protagonist to save the species, oh wait you don't" - brad (paraphrasing)

So it was exactly like the ending of DS 2, that you had no problem with, and gave a 5?

Played through awakening, it was ok, but not quite long enough for the 10$.

From what I've heard of the ending to Mass Effect 2, fighting a giant baby sounds way crazier than blowing up a moon.

It's a pity that I think I'd much rather play this DLC than ever play through Dead Space 3 again. Of course, it's also $10 and only 90 minutes long, so that's not motivation enough for me to reinstall it.

Good timing. I just finished DS3 earlier today.

At this point I'm not sure if I'd rather the series continue or end. It's disheartening that many signs point to DS4 being a full-blown shooter set back on Earth. That is, if it even goes into production.

The Moon stuff wasn't that crazy, its not like you hadn't fought giant Necromorphs before and considering how powerful and Lovecraftian the Markers were, the final endgame state made sense as something on that kind of scale.

It seems that these devs are showing far more capable at putting together a tight 2-4 hour narrative for these DLCs than the long 10+ hour campaign in the main game.
