Brad and Patrick seem crazier than Isaac ever was. Their obsession with this moon business is uncanny. It really, really wasn't that crazy guys, I think you're projecting a bit?

From what I've heard of the ending to Mass Effect 2, fighting a giant baby sounds way crazier than blowing up a moon.

You'll be really disappointed then because it's just a giant T-100 that raises and lowers its head. If you want to fight an actual baby, play Clive Barker's Jericho

And I'm with the moon thing not being that crazy. It was kind of dumb, and I would argue that fighting a psychic projection of your dead girlfriend while zombie children swarm you is much crazier

I'm fairly certain that I'm never going to play Dead Space 3 (outside of watching the ending on youtube since I did love the first two games). So...let the spoilage begin!

Never played any dead space but this looks SO DUMB. Can't believe some people would say a series with ''the moon crew'' in it is the best this generation... I mean WTF? It's not like it has the tone of saints row to go with that kind of complete non-sense.

What are you even saying? I don't what kind of world you live in where something called ''the moon crew'', a bunch of sentient necromancer moons is not that crazy. The fact that the end boss is one of those is SO DUMB. I honnestly can't think of a stupider situation in a video game and I played saint's row the third.

This fighting aggressive and violence prone Moons does sound awkward. But what I remember was how good Deep space 1 and even 2 was. I'm glad I got to play those, not a waste of my time at all. And I may visit 3 someday..with this DLC. However I have other games on the price drop list, such as Crysis 3 to consider also.

The ending of this DLC is bananas and is either a great series ending or it sets up an amazing 4th entry

Watching Brad with his rocket launcher shotgun combo is exactly why Dead Space 3 is such a terrible Dead Space game. Why dismember the limbs when you just rocket them to hell. Such bullshit. Let's just make all ammo universal so there's so need to conserve your heavy weapon ammo. Makes me pissed that an awesome series like Dead Space has been turned to this.

I'm always amazed by how good the lip-syncing has been throughout the Dead Space series. Second to L.A. Noire, but that's about it.

I'm sad to hear Patrick mention that Dead Space 4 might have been cancelled due to low sales figures of Dead Space 3. I know I contributed to those low sales since I haven't bought it yet. I did want to buy it and I would have on day 1 if I could buy it on Steam. I already own 1 and 2 on Steam so I figured I'd wait and maybe get it later if it ever came to Steam. The same thing goes for Crysis 3. I own 1 and 2 on Steam so I want to continue using Steam.

You simply can't though, and while Origin isn't as nice as Steam it isn't anything to be avoided. The reality was Steam was never going to be the only source for digital PC games, it just can't be that way. It's a bummer, I know I'm right there with you, but that's just business.

Yea. My resistance to using Origin is completely irrational and I will get over it eventually, but I still just want to keep my sequels together. If I didn't have Dead Space 1 and 2 on my PC through Steam already, then getting it from an alternative source wouldn't be as big of a snag for me. It is the same reason why I don't just buy it for my XBox 360, I just want them all in the same place. It's my own problem and I'm sorry that it may have aided in the cancellation of a fun series but I don't think EA should limit itself like it is currently doing.

I'm with ya. It's not like it comes out of nowhere either, even in the beginning on the derelict ships they make a lot of nods towards the moon. I remember thinking that early on that it would come into play, also that it looks insane. When you first get a glimpse of the planet out of the window the camera holds on the Moon for such a long time and then moves down to the planet itself.

I didn't think the ending was brilliant, I also didn't think it was insultingly bad. Dead Space 3 still plays great and has some excellent environments to run around in and have some Dead Space fun in. It's really as simple as that.

Definitely. I thought it was actually really clever in a way. Throughout all three games all you hear about is convergence, we must be one, unity above all etc. Then you find out what convergence is, which directly leads to the creation of this bio-mass moon - and in a Sci Fi way not only does it completely make sense but is actually a pretty solid theory. The way Patrick and Brad talk about it you'd think the final boss fight was actually a big round moon complete with mustache, monocle and boxing gloves having a boxing match with Isaac, necromorphs cheering and chugging Necro-beer from the sidelines. Guess what? The moon was represented by a giant gross monster with glowing orange weak points like everything else in the entire game.

The story was fine as was most of the dialog. Even the "love triangle" which is basically like 3 cutscenes long in the entire game wasn't really bad or anything. I disagree with Patrick on this - how insane would it be if they were having a lovers squabble in the middle of all this shit happening and there wasn't a third person involved to directly influence it?

I get that Patrick and Brad may like Asura's Wrath and that whole corny tongue in cheek tone the game portrays, but not all games have that. Not every game is breaking the fourth wall or trying to give you the wink and nod. It is so both weird and slightly tiring that they keep trying to shoehorn that specific feeling into almost every game they play, whether it warrants it or not. I like a good laugh as much as anyone else, especially when Jeff is goofing off, but you gotta know when to pump those breaks once in a while. Thats just my opinion though.

The Necro-Moon still isn't stupid if you followed along the fiction of the series. And I'm not even talking about the EU stuff like books and animated features - just the lore present in the game.

I mean really guys, what the fuck did you think Convergence was going to be?

@humanity:

I'm not going to play Dead Space 3, but honestly this whole premise sounds way way better than the end of 2, which I hated.

I am going to have to see it for myself but I do feel they are overreacting in such a way that's reminiscent of Asura's Wrath, and I don't know why they are doing it...yet.

Lol really the moon was the problem for them? There's plenty of things about that game that are more of a problem than that. And it wasn't that bad, it was at least set up and didn't just come out of nowhere. I wonder if they would have the same problem with Persona 3.

You know, this Quick Look is making me want to play this game WAY more than before.

In a lot of ways, this seems like a natural evolution of Majora's Mask.

Maybe they take place in the same universe.

Isn't Patrick the one that likes Majora's Mask? Why's he making such a big deal of fighting a moon?

Haven't played the game yet myself, but it all seems very Lovecraftian to me, which I like.

Enormous monstrous aliens that drive people insane reanimate dead flesh and have cults devoted to them? All very Lovecraft.

I am glad that there won't be another Dead Space, it would be sad to see the franchise get even more casual. Big part of the appeal for me was the dismemberment of the creatures and the use of mining tools as weapons. Seeing how Brad uses a shotgun and a rocket launcher to mow down everything in sight is just not appealing, there are plenty of games that are already doing it. Dead Space 1&2 was its own thing, DS3 is like everything else.

DEAD SPACE 4 MOON PATROL called it. The powerful Moon Patrol franchise revitalized with an undead-shooty-shooty sort of framework.
