Huh, I'm surprised they did a QL for this after covering it on Wednesday's thing. Didn't really seem like the type of thing to warrant a full QL, but hey! Whatever!

Just got finished playing through this. Really liked the way Vergil played and his animations are fantastic. The DLC was short though and the story could have been better (and better presented). It's great if you're getting it for free, not quite as easy a recommendation if you're paying for it, though. Ultimately I was happy to have bought it.

I need to play through DmC and Vergils Downfall a bunch more, I really enjoy the game.

Played through this last night. Can't say I'm a fan of the storyboard-style cinematic sequences, but gameplay itself was still fun.

Man I really hope Brad get's back to DMC1 and then plays DMC3. I just finished both about a week ago. SO GOOD.

Doesn't look half bad at all. Might give it a try, good to have an excuse to play more DmC...

@nottle: DMC 1 holds up AMAZINGLY well. Combat aside, the art direction is just so solid and consistent throughout.

Vergil's fucking fast in this DLC. That 1 frame pull / push change does wonders to speed up the pace. I really wish for a Vergil Bloody Palace patch, even if it has color coded enemies.

I don't like this version of Vergil, seems a bit neutered.

Poor Brad only upgrading health

I don't think there was nearly as much work put into Vergil as a "new character" as they seem to think. He used most of these moves in the original game, so it was just a matter of assigning combos to them to make him playable. I think they decided to do this because they had essentially made a completely different character (albeit comparable to Dante) which only appeared for that very last bit of the game, and wanted to get some mileage out of all of the work that went into him.

Jesus Christ Brad, upgrade enemy step already. Jump canceling is half the depth in this game, I don't know how you can stand to play it without it.

I still think it's insane that DLC seems to come out a mere few weeks after the release date.

You can't make DLC like this (especially coming out this quickly after the game released) without planning for it in the beginning.

Most people that will play DmC on a "regular" level can do just fine without jump cancelling, it's not a necessity for just playing and finishing the game.

If you want to get really good then yah, I'd say practice it,, but otherwise it's superfluous.

Vergil's hair in that thumbnail looks SO FUCKING STUPID. DO NOT WANT.

@fuzzylemon: It also helps that almost all of his moves that didn't revolve around DmC's grabs and the like were taken directly from Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Especially all of the Summoned Swords attacks and how they drained DT.

I'm excited for more DmC. Bought this on Steam and plan to play it this weekend.

Jeez I hope this game gets a sequel some day.

@obikwiet: Yeah I'm not usually one that nitpicks about character hair or looks, but man that thumbnail looks dumb. My first thought was, "Why does Vergil look like Hilary Swank?"

This DLC was a real bummer. I came into it super excited since I loved DmC, but I thought all of Virgil's combos were lame (I did like his DT mechanics better then Dante's Rage, but that's it.) and the comic book art style was really bad looking.

I assume this DLC was hurt by the poor sales of the main game, which is a shame.

I wish there was a way to play as Vergil in the base game, even just if it's just a skin change (as well as changing the weapon to Yamato which is awesome).

Man no lock on makes this game look so fucking awkward, I don't see how this is fun to play.

That and the story which seems childish a crude in the worst way is why I got Rising instead...

I really enjoyed playing through this yesterday and will likely try it on Son of Sparda mode.

Taking out Color coded enemies is a huge plus for me, wasn't a fan of how much they slowed down the flow of combat. Vergil's pretty fun to play, the speed of his summoned swords let you teleport around between enemies in ridiculous ways Dante can't

Oh nice, they didn't just take the Wednesday nonsense and use that as the quick look. Well done!

Same kind of cutscenes the Castlevania reboot DLC had.

I really enjoyed playing as Virgil in DMC 3 so I think I'll get this it looks like he still has some of the same stuff from that game.

Seems kinda fun. I'll probably wait for a GOTY edition... if one ever comes.

@humanity: I don't know, Brad was really into this that I thought he'd discover / rely on some of the cancels. But yeah, the game's perfectly playable on all difficulties without any of the tricks.

Is it wrong that I want a Fedora Vergil more than I want an OG Vergil skin? I'm not ashamed !

He's currently going through DMC1 in his "Bradley May Cry" series. Dunno if he's actually gonna go through and finish it though.

Brad god damn, maybe its best you don't play DMC3 in Bradley May Cry if you ever continue it, that game will absolutely kick your ass and you'll likely hate it for the same reasons you love DmC.

Vergil looks more fun to play as than Dante, but I've seen all of the cutscenes of this on Youtube and for a game that tries to westernize itself so heavily, they sure do borrow a lot from Bleach in this DLC.

I hope we get to see Vergil's bigger dick in this!

I don't understand how they think that DmC's dlc and Dead Space 3's dlc are any different, they're both epilogues.

Yeah, like the original Borderlands, right? And also Dead Island? I don't think those games received any GOTY awards, or at least not a lot, yet they still got GOTY editions anyway.

In any case, if in fact they do re-release this game in the future, they probably won't call it a GOTY edition. More like Ultimate Edition or Complete Edition or "FUCK YOU" Edition (no wait, that last one sounds like a Collector's Edition name type).

Just as the camera zooms in on the amulet being very much there due to his skin. Laughed more than I should have at that.

Makes me wish DMC had co-op.

He wont even get past the DMC3 intro level if he plays the original version with its difficulty intact. The normal enemies in DMC3 don't fuck around and wont stand for button mashing.
