Quick Look: Devil May Cry

EDIT: Finally got that first quest. I finished the game today and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the boss battle being formulaic. I know it is not be going to for everyone but this is my kind of game and I think it is the best game in its genre since Bayonetta.

Really think they should have more knowledge of the previous games when reviewing this. A lot of stuff they complement was done in the past games and better like multiple weapons and style meter. The game actually has less to the combat than before and I'm not getting that so dumb it is fun vibe like Brad is. The creators even said they were making a serious story

I'll just say that I like what i've played of DmC so far as someone that liked the originals, but didn't exactly play through them more than once, I don't know if it is a 5 star game though.

And now i'm never gonna return to this comment section that I think will be pretty volatile.

The Steam version will be the way to go for this game, I'll be grabbing it next pay.

After watching this Quick Look, this seems 1000 times more interesting than any other Devil May Cry game. It must suck for DMC fanboys who are so blind and ignorant to change that they can only enjoy the boring crap that is familiar to them instead of embracing something new and interesting.

I am stoked about the PC version of this game now and never would have expected to be.

Forget that he looks "different", I've only played part of the first DMC but always wanted to do more. I think the difficulty gets to me as bayonetta is one of my favorite games of all time. But man I hate the look of this dante because he looks too realistic.

Stoked for pc version. My pc feels aged when I look at new tech, but it blows the pants off my consoles.

Kind of looks like I was expecting for this & finding that Jeff's comments through the quick look are close to my thoughts on it and other Ninja Theory games, this game looks okay & regardless of what a review score is for a game it will often not 100% agree with the individual playing it. Played some of the earlier DMC games but only finished the first one so might put this into gamefly but overall I'm in no rush to play this. Brad liked it, great, not sure I'd enjoy it that much but willing to give it a shot.

he doesn't need to play the rest of the games to have an opinion on this one; you may not accept this opinion, but it's subjective like everything is.

Never got into the series, so I'm glad that they brought out this game. Seems like a good start to the series!

only criticism i would have would be that these guys need to get away from using the word dumb to describe stories. as ridiculous and dumb mean totally different things

as dumb sounds more demeaning when it seems the game has a cool- over the top story

When a game is worse than it's predecessors that is a problem. people can still like it and I hope they have fun but that doesn't change things

To all who criticise this game.

I read some comments in this forum and some people talk about this game in a way that sounds like you don't think that it should be on the PC, or that its not good enough to warrant what would be a pretty standard game release price for consoles. I just have to put my two cents in about it and why I think that the PC platform is very often getting overlooked, with developers releasing titles for the consoles that either never make it to PC or are delayed for 6 months.

Now this game certainly ain't no Crysis, but its not intended to be. Its just a fun game with a popular theme that you can have people over to play. I just spent basically the entire night playing it with the missus and couldn't find anything I could criticise about the quality of the game. I even go to the extent to say that its of better quality than a number of games that PC gamers hold near and dear. Throughout about 8 hours of gameplay, not one roadblock or glitch, not even a skipped frame which is far better than a lot of games out there. The movement animation of the characters was flawless, and whilst the graphics could've been made better for a PC version, there was really no need in this instance.

The multiverse is quite emmersive and constantly changing, and whilst it may not have a hundred hours of content, the content that is there doesn't feel reused with each level completely different from the last. There is a lot of great humour in the game that actually get a laugh, even if some of the dialogue/cut scenes don't quite have the flair of the TV show.

I think PC gamers should be thrilled that they actually got included in a game like this and that they got the game with the same release day as consoles. These are the sorts of games that PC gamers tend to miss out on and I think that its very important for the platform that they do get released. Now, this isn't the kind of game that I would sit up playing by myself, but we had loads of fun playing co-op split screen. I don't think in any way you could call this a bad game, but it certainly is one that would appeal to a different demographic, a demographic that seems to be lost on the PC platform.

I think we need to see more of these casual, single-screen multiplayer games released on the PC to pull the platform out of its current relative obscurity. The amount of games on PC that can be played local co-op are very few and far between. It was great for a change to have some of my gaming time this weekend not be me sitting by myself in the lounge with my headphones on for hours on end.

I really don't like the idea of the PC platform coming across like an elitist platform that doesn't have room for casual games like this. So i think that whilst this game may not be your cup of tea, you should think back to the last game you wanted to play that didn't come out on PC because developers didn't think releasing on the platform would be profitable enough.

This game delivers what you would expect from a title like this and I think if you were expecting some advanced battle engine to rival Borderlands 2, then I think that's your own problem, not the game. Or are developers right, that there really isn't room for simple, casual games like this on the PC platform?

Also, I'm actually quite happy with what I saw today - platforming seemed average, but the combat really evoked DMC in a way that looks really fun.
