@mitch0712: I played and enjoyed both, shame 2 will never come out.

I love this game. I have loved these games since 3 came out, but this especially. I've been playing pretty much nonstop since Tuesday morning. I'm currently on wave 80 of Ambition mode with the game paused because I'm trying to get all the way to 100 straight without quitting in order to unlock whatever the thing is at the end. Zhu Rong with her boomerang and Hue Jin's hook swords is really fun.

I am never going to escape this series.

That 2 Player reminded me of PS2 era Dynasty Warriors.

This is like a classic Giantbomb quicklook from the early days.

I feel like "Hm, I see... Well, That will do, I suppose." is a general review for all DW games..

I'm not trying to insult anyone that likes these games, but what's the point of playing it on this difficulty? You get surrounded by 40 guys that just stand there and wait for you to hit them?

Looks flashy but boring as fuck.

You know when you cast an AoE spell in an Action RPG and it's super satisfying?

Extract that and multiply it by 10, then put it in 3rd person and that's Dynasty Warriors.

Haha, I do the same thing. Just put them on while listening to podcasts. It's pretty relaxing. Except I haven't played an actual DW game in a long time, I preferred DW Gundam and Sengoku Basara. I'll also probably get that DW One Piece game coming out.

For ten dollars, I would play this. Just gonna have to wait I guess.

I love the mindless fun these games provide, but I know they are titles that are impossible to defend when talking about quality. It's just dumb fun I can have with a friend and I mean cmon.. the day I picked this up I killed over 1000 people on the first level!

Man. This looks likes a bad original Xbox game. Can't believe people enjoy/play games like this these days.

@mrsmiley: Graphics really matter, right? I wouldn't dare touch Minecraft, Earthbound, Super Mario Bros., or Sonic the Hedgehog 2 nowadays. They look so bad, they probably play just as bad.

You people just don't understand. Low framerate and slowdown makes it more cinematic.

Been playing the PS3 version, no slowdown at all, been have a huge amount of fun with it, put the difficulty down and slice through hundreds of dudes, it is like therapy at a fraction of the cost!

I loved it when he pulled up the move list and it was just a bunch of X and Y prompts in a row.

I can't stand that terrible wailing guitar background music!

@alibson: Neither does this, unfortunate 360 framerate aside. You should go back and see what Warriors games on the original XBox actually look like.

@hailinel: Exactly. If you can't fathom why people don't get tired of jamming on a button to kill dudes, consider why you don't get tired of pressing one trigger to aim, and another to shoot. Why aren't we complaining about the parade of cover shooters and first-person shooters that make just as few fundamental changes to their basic design? Why does a game like Black Ops get a pass for implementing a new way to look at your loadout but not changing the fact that you're shooting dudes using the same controls, but DW doesn't get a pass for implementing elements, refining the systems, and all kinds of tweaks?

The Warriors series and their like have their appeals, and unlike the kinds of games that get focus-tested and watered down into oblivion, Koei continually refines and tweaks systems for the people who DO "get it". Just reading Jim Sterling's review of DW8 or any other game in the series should be enough to convince you that there's a lot more to the game when you get into the nitty-gritty.

Man that slow down is rough.

That slowdown is really strange, I have the game on PS3 and I haven't experienced any slowdown at all. Then again I haven't tried 2 player mode. Still - glad I got it for PS3 vs. 360 from watching this Quick Look.

The Xbox 360 port gets shafted again, was like this for Dyansty Warriors 6 also

For those who are actually interestig in DW8 PS3 doesn't experience slow down.

This hour of video was the opposite of entertaining.

360 is known to have some slowdown issues, which is unfortunate. PS3 is apparently the way to go for this game if you have the option.

You just named a bunch of beautiful games. Well maybe not Mario, but it definitely doesn't look bad...this game looks bad.

Really don't know why this hasn't been converted to the MOBA model. Seems 3/4 of the way there already, just some minor tweaking and you'd have a Super Friday Night Fight.

Ugh... I'd probably waste a lot of money on that as I think about it.

That is one of the most obtrusive mini-maps I've ever seen in a game.

Love the Dynasty Warriors games. I think I'll buy this one eventually.

I've never played a DW game, but I can see why people like them. I'm actually curious about this one after seeing some decent looking screens and also Jim Sterling's review. Will probably wait on it a while and also pick up the PS3 version obviously.

In an age where Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta have already come out, I can't image why people are willing to defend to combat in this game.

@kentonclay: Dynasty Warriors does not aspired for the same style of action as Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta. It's perfectly acceptable to like both.

I love this game. To fix most of the lag on the 360 you have to turn down the resolution on the console to 720.

Still I have been having so much fun in ambition mode.

Now to hopefully wait for the PC Port, 7 never came ;_;

Oh man, they are systematically transforming all these ancient Chinese Warrior into J-pop idols. I expect Dynasty Warriors 15 to play exactly the same as Dynasty Warriors 3, except for all the weapons will be replaced with songs.

Tried a demo of DW game back at a game retail spot (compusa maybe) on a ps2, felt that 5 minutes of that game was more than enough for the rest of my life. Course now every time I think of DW games, I just have this one x-play video review of Adam Sessler with Devil Kings that clearly shows how dull that game & guessing all the DW games are. I really want to know who keeps buying the DW games as they keep making them but I never see anyone buying them in the stores to show the studio that there's enough demand to keep making more of these bloody things that rarely seem to change enough.

Plenty of other better & more fun yet mindless stupid/fun moments (ie. Saints Row 3, Red Faction Guerrilla, Lego Lord of the Rings) seem like there's more to do in the game than just hitting the attack button at a stack of dudes standing there.

After around 13 minutes in, I have no idea how someone could actually enjoy this...and fuck that background music.

Man watching this video has totally killed my nostalgia for Dynasty Warriors on PS2.

Would give a game like this a shot on the PC where slow-down wouldn't be so bad with a good rig, but this game just has too much slow down.

@harabec: The slow-down is only on the 360 version. The PS3 version is just fine.

I think this may be the first time I've gotten motion sickness from a quick look. I had to keep looking away from the video.
