Oh man, Eutechnyx has made some real bangers.

Edit: Oh fuck, I have no problem with real world brands being used in video games, when it calls for it, but nothing pisses me off more than companies putting ads on load screens. The Star Wars ad in Deus EX: HR that was patched in soured me on that game immensely.

No offense to any Nascar enthusiasts, but I find the option to "practice" hilarious. I mean, I get that there are slight variations between tracks, but you're always basically driving in a big oval.

I played a bunch of F1 games over the years and I remember really having to learn the tracks before trying a qualifying run, because if you didn't, you'd inevitably crash at some point or be really, really slow.

That annoyed me to, IT'S THE HOLDEN. That's a fantastic looking vehicle.

Interesting. I think my exposure to this type of racing begins and ends with GB Quick Looks and Bombcast discussions (if I remember that correctly?). Still, it is nice to check these videos out every once in a while. Also, it's true that the unapologetic nature of the events has a defrinite charm to it.

Regardless of the game itself, I'm glad to see the company rep approach this with professionalism conveyed in the Quick Look. I may never play the game, but I immensely respect his passion and respect for the medium.

They're average. The actual racing engine is brilliant, but the series is hindered by awful, game-breaking problems. The AI is horrible, the penalty detection is annoyingly fickle, and there are a ton of other bugs that actively prevent you from completing races. Things like not having drive-through penalties count when taking them or the braking line telling you to punch the gas through a second-gear turn.

Not to mention that the AI is not actually on the track. It is ghost data with collision turned on.

Also, to actually be on topic, Nascar Inside Line looks pretty legit. I'm not the biggest fan of the sport, but Eutechnyx seems to have seriously put some work in. I remember some of their earlier racing games be kind of garbage, so this is really cool to see.

I don't understand why anyone would play this.

Edit: Because of NASCAR, not the quality of the game.

I wish Codemaster would make Grid 2..

Wow, he specifically said it can be the most realistic on console. That's refreshing, a bit different than codemasters/whoever telling their next arcade-sim is the MOST REALISTICEST GAME LIEK IN EVERZ.

I wish this much care could go into an F1 game. I feel like there's never been a good one.

Actually I though the opposite. I though this is exactly like the Codemasters F1 games now, looking at the career mode, from the sponsors down to everything, to the looks of the menus :D. Anyway, shame it's not coming out on the PC, I like me some oval racing.

I still don't have much interest in this game, but admittedly, it seems quite well done.

Ed seemed like a cool dude; it was interesting hearing about some of the behind the scenes stuff, especially the licensing aspect. Sounds like a ton of work!

Didn't Ryan go to a Nascar event recently? As much as I make fun of them, I'm curious what it'd be like to actually go to one. I just don't know if I can waste a whole day like that.

At least thats my experience of a race day, though it wasnt nascar

I don't follow NASCAR at all, but it's pretty awesome they have race-specific cars. And the telemetry-data based drivers sounds like a brilliant idea. There's more heart in this game than I thought. I wonder how well they do? Anybody know?

Interesting QL with one of the devs, though sorry, watching rally racing enough in the past just makes nascar look boring as hell to watch. At least it's not some junky nascar game so at least fans of that racing style might enjoy this.

I like the fellow they brought in for this. Managed to be consistently interesting and informative at the same time. Cool looking game too. I wonder if you can jack up the tire pressure enough so that they just pop immediately and you can make a disastrous effort to drive on rims.

It's always nice when you get a guy from the team on a game that is just loaded with things like an ungodly amount of sponsors and he legitimately sounds like he loves the game. I get that indie devs and other clique games have developers who are there for the love of the game, and while they want to make money (who doesn't), they get really excited about the game when talking about it and they're not strictly worried about the sales.

Ed is an excellent example of a man who loves his job and the content that he gets to bring to fans. While there are a lot of people who might watch this and say "meh", the fact is, there is a lot of care and love put into this for the real fans of NASCAR, hell racing in general.

I also love the fact that they are going to take an extended time off before releasing the next game and just support this with DLC. EA really needs to stop pushing new games every year and maybe drop a new one every other year while supporting the release with DLC. Essentially, take the route of the iPad and drop the year and just call it Madden NFL Football. Allow it to breathe for 2 seasons, then release the next one. The DLC could be like a $20-30 dollar thing that adds new features, tweaks, updated rosters and whatever else they want a side team to do while they work on building the next one. No more recycled bullshit.

While I would never watch a NASCAR race on TV, if I had the opportunity to go to a race again I would totally take it, especially since I'm older now (I went to a race with my grandpa, dad, and a few of my dad's friends when I was younger). It is like going to any other sports event (in America at least; not sure how things go down in foreign countries). Beers, barbeques, an enjoyable time with your friends/family, etc. And as far as I know you can still get right next to the cars and drivers and talk to them. If you have any interest in cars and have a bunch of friends and/or family that would come with you I definitely recommend it. My favorite motorsport is rally racing, but I would never travel just to see a WRC event since I would spend a lot of the day just sitting in one spot watching a car pass by now and then. Yeah, there are also city events and the arena type events, but it isn't really the same as a huge, stadium event from a spectator viewpoint. If there is one thing that NASCAR does well it is putting on a good show for the spectators there.

This was a really good Quick Look EX. I usually don't like them, but Ed brought the right amount of inside baseball and passion for the game, while the guys knew enough about the game to keep up an interesting conversation. Actually made me interested in the game, though just like the MLB games, not really something that's likely to be released in Europe anyway.

I remember spending hours playing around with the pixel-based car decals editor on some PC NASCAR game, then not playing the game part of it.

Anyway, not for me, but I can understand why there are fans. It's horse racing with more crashes.

@Bassman2112: But with what concessions? There's no way it could keep track of all 43 cars with each driver's unique AI profiles, could it? I wonder how last year's game was on the Wii compared to the PS3/360 versions.

I love Nascar and bought all games, but their last year was a disaster. Videos always look good its when you get it that you realize online sucks. Did they fix the counter in the lobbies? Is there any catching up for ppl that wreck at the start. Yellow flag bring long load screen. All these questions are not answered in the video. I still have my doubts.

This is me Pissed off last year.
