Also, I really find it hard to believe this game is better than Super SFIV. More technical doesn't automatically make it better. Just look at the "thriving" Virtua Fighter community. Oh wait, you can't. Because relatively no one plays it. Fighting games thrive on competition, and like it or not, you need new players to maintain an interesting community. SFIV does a great job of providing depth, but still accommodating people who just wanna play it like Street Fighter 2. And for that, I thank Yoshinori Ono and co. Although SFIII's parry system is a cool addition to the game; just like DOA's counter button or Soul Calibur's Guard Impacts. Both of which came before SFIII, btw. Both of those games' first entry came out in 96. SFIII came out in 97.

I think that you're right in saying that a fighting game lives and dies by its community, but I don't think it's fair to say that one game is better than another just because of how big the support behind it is. I might be wrong but I think the people who consider 3S to be better than IV are people who are REALLY into fighting games. The parry system might not seem like much to the casual player but in my opinion it completely changes the meta-game and how on-point you have to be with your footsies. It also balances things out a lot more I find. In my experience, 3S matches between two equally skilled players can go either way regardless of who they pick (well, maybe except for Sean lol); whereas in SFIV, things are way more match-up dependant and that really pisses me off sometimes. Just my 2 cents on why i think 3S is better.

I bolded that, because you pretty much hit the nail on the head. 3rd Strike was the perfect fighting gamers' fighting game.

ST is the best Street Fighter of all time, no debate. Just because nobody plays it seriously anymore doesn't change this fact. There's plenty of great games that not many people play. SF4 is a friendly game that rewards taking damage because it gives you that comeback factor. That's why the casual audience clung to it.

People do still play ST seriously. Of course not that many, but those people exist. Like last year when Snake Eyes was the first to win EVO with Zangief, things like that still happen. Also Damdai plays it almost exclusively. He played Daigo in this years ST final at EVO.

This actually looks better than I expected. The only thing that I'd love to see is redesigned backgrounds, or higher resolution for the stages.
Well let's be fair, when it originally came out, it had some of the most gorgeous 2D art ever.  I honestly doubt anyone could really make something that was truly an improvement.  It's not like Super Turbo, which was clearly looking pretty ghetto by modern standards when HDR came out.

Most animation of any game, clear they have not played Guilty Gear there.  There at the end was Capcom again DLC.  Yeah no go capcom.  Street Fighter 3rd strike Ultimate edition out 5 mins after you buy SF3.  Now here come the Capcom white knights

@lordofultima: yeah that's true. Guess I was hoping they would do a remake from the ground up.

You realize the DLC will probably just be backgrounds/music from the earlier version of SF3, right? Ugh.

They already said they won't be doing any further rebalancing dipshit. Don't expect any future games carrying the Third Strike name or Street Fighter III for that matter.

Will they include a full episode from the US Street Fighter cartoon like Final Fight Double Impact? ;)

But seriously, I'm selling my TE fightstick this week and I'm actually considering still buying this despite knowing I'll always suck at it :(

I love the idea of the challenges constantly updating on the left hand side of the screen, but I can't see them with my tube TV. I adjusted the screen to be as small as possible and switched to the arcade cabinet mode, and while that created visible extra space on either side of the screen, I could still see no challenge updates. I also don't have the option to go to wide screen or stretched (for obvious reasons), so I assume that it just doesn't update the challenges when my PS3 is set to 4:3. I guess I can't really complain about them not tailoring their game to my old TV, but not seeing the challenges is kind of a bummer, especially when I see extra space when the screen is adjusted accordingly.
