Quick Look: Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

ffx-2 is way more fun. 10 has like a billion bosses with massive amounts of hp. it's a slog with very little sense of humour.

I know it doesnt tell you anywhere in-game but every single final fantasy that has ever been released has soft reset. On any playstation game if you hold L1, L2, R2, R1, select and start it will bring you back to the main menu. I know I'm a little late to the party but I hope i help someone.

@wolfhazard: X is my favorite, XIII killed my interest in the franchise.

X-2 is a super stupid girlpower-game that I hate to love. The combat-system is incredibly cool and shares similarities to FF5 (job system). Cool to play, but you'll likely hate many of the cutscenes.

4 and 9 are the best, 8, 10 and 12 are equally the worst, the others are fine and 13 is better than people give it credit for.

X-2 is the best.

I've always toyed with the idea of going back and playing X-2 since I enjoyed X as much as I did. Now, I think this quick look was just about enough X-2 for me..

Wow the quality looks amazing!! I never played FF games but I really liked Paine, and Riku and Yuna also.

I remember being slightly disappointed by FFX at the time it came out. When I look back on it these days though I have some of the same nostalgia for it as the earlier games in the series. So many dope cuts on that soundtrack too.

@ste89: I wouldn't be surprised if there are promotional deals in the future to purchase the vita/ps3 together.

Still really want a FFX prequel where you play as Braska, Auron and Jecht on Braska's pilgrimage and learn their whole story in full detail rather than just short video sphere's

Seeing Jecht becoming he final aeon and ultimately becoming Sin would be fantastic

FF X was one of the best. Best battle system in a FF, great music (not just from Uematsu), and a surprisingly dark, pseudo-philosophical story. Never understood the "too linear" argument as the only thing it did was take away a world map that you walk on. There were sidequests and fun stuff to do other than the story abound (I spent dozens of hours playing Blitzball alone). In my experience, people that hate on this game are usually of the "the last good FF was VI" variety.

It's X as in a roman numeral, damn it! That aside, spoilers for anyone who's gonna watch. That also aside, I have some fond memories of X. It had a good story to work with but sometimes got overshadowed by poor execution (e.g. the VO/translation - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA). The only thing about X-2 that I like was Lulu and Wakka getting married. Adorable.

Man, those flat faces/flaces are really nostalgic! Flaces.

I suppose they don't work well in video format when you're not playing it yourself.

FFX was an amazing game. I played the fuck out of it. I even got heavy into Blitzball. Glad to know Vinny liked FF9, it's one of my favorites as well.

Also I'll second a Vinny/Rorie/Brad Endurance Run of this game just for the reactions...lol.

Man, if anything, FFX had incredible set pieces and bosses.

I'll put it down as Final Fantasy just not being for you. The earlier entries(pre-X) were well-crafted: it had strong themes, interesting explorable world/setting, diverse cast of characters, and were well written albeit badly translated. They were far from boring as majority would agree and the biggest difference was that the FF series didn't take itself that seriously. For Aeris death, you had "Let's mosey", and for every evil act by Kefka, you had Ultros; the series tread the fine line well in balancing drama(not melodrama) and upbeat and silly fun. So yea, I'll agree with you in the sense that the newer games have become overly cheesy and uninteresting due to newer limitation of rapidly growing technology and the failure to conform to them in a meaningful way but I wouldn't as far as Final Fantasy series as failing at good story and fun.

Basically all I remember about Final Fantasy X was getting Yojimbo as a summon and killing bosses in one shot for most of the game.

They never actually say Tidus' name in the game, which is why you can change it. It's kind of crazy because you probably never notice it, but it's true as far as I know.

Me neither. I started trying to play them with 7, I thought 7 was boring, so I tried 8 and 9, same thing. Went back to try 13 and it was the same crap with prettier graphics. (bland characters, bad voice acting and weak story)

Final Fantasy put me off JRPGs so I didn't play any for years and years, then Persona 4 turned out to be a breath of fresh air with characters I really liked, an interesting timeline, Pokemon-esque combat/creatures and a story that was full of great little moments and was bonkers in the best possible ways.

I put it down to the JRPG genre not being for me, but actually Final Fantasy is just boring. I accept that the gameplay of JRPGs often becomes grindy and the battles can get tedious, but if there's a good story and the game is full of character I'll stick with it, unfortunately Final Fantasy epically fails at those two things.

I seriously don't understand why these games are so loved.

I wanted to play Final Fantasy 10 last year and couldn't find my disc so I ended up emulating it and looked about as nice as this does. Going from 480i to 1080p makes a world of difference on its own. I would pick this up just to get the widescreen and less glitchy graphics, though.

Every time I see X-2 all I can think is that it is certainly a product of its time. A vapid, grating time.

I really couldn't stand 10-2 when it first came out because of how completely ridiculous it is. However, after the painfully terrible storytelling of 13 and the wonderfully terrible storytelling of the Dissidia games, I think I'm at a point with the series where I can simply enjoy a thoroughly ridiculous plot.

FFX-2 is super dumb. I love it.

Never played either of these games, but based on this QL I would be far more likely play X-2. It just looks like good dumb fun.

X-2 is one of the best games in the series. Fun story, fun battle system, highly replayable. People who don't like it are nerds who take themselves way too seriously (and the story of FFX way too seriously).

Man I should really go back and finish FFX, but I don't really remember the smaller details of the game anymore. I don't remember the part they showed in the QL at all initially. I stopped playing when the event catch up to "current", [spoiler]before heading into Zanarkand.[/spoiler]

The game has interesting narrative with most of it being told from the past leading up to the present, the world is ok, story is....fine I guess although dialog, voice acting, localization seems to kill a lot of its potential. There was some serious pacing issue and the amount of grinding and tedious side quests didn't help (not a fan of blitzball, and dodging lighting is even worse.)

I don't like Tidus as a character, Yuna is good, Lulu is good, Auron is just ok initially, but really shine during that part when they meet Yunalesca.

Strangely enough someone bought me FFX-2 long time ago knowing I am a FF fan...still sealed so far.

I remember debating should I pick up the International version of it since I just happen to be visiting Europe near that time, but I didn't because I wasn't sure how region lock works.
