I play the same way, but it does add something casual does not. It adds tension. Even though I know I won't lose characters in the end, each move could still destroy my chapter progress. Casual mode would just be me sending units into a fray and not giving a crap because as long as I make it through a mission, everyone's fine.

If you have any Targets around you, that's where I would look for a physical copy. I got mine on Monday, because a limited amount of Targets got 3-4 copies then. The employee I talked to said most to all Targets would have it in on Wednesday, and it also states that in their weekly ad. If you go online, they have a stock checker, that's how I knew where to go on Monday.

Wow, that was kind of painful to watch! At least they are playing somewhat conservatively instead of rushing entire maps with Frederick (you could probably get away with it on Normal though). I found pairing Frederick with Donnel helped the process of babying him due to the Strength and movement bonus.

I wish they got far enough to be able to explain the children and inheritance systems, but I suppose that's a whole other can of worms along with some spoilers. It's genius how they took one of the fan's favorite things about these games (the shipping) and raised it to a new level. Planning your supports and promotions is definitely the real meat of this game.

Also, I love how Donnel keeps his headgear throughout his class changes.

I really wish I could get this for the PC.

Not sure what to think of the 3D rendered battle scenes, the sprites had its charm and would look great in high resolution.

@beard_of_zeus: I checked my local Targets and Best Buy this morning, and there's one Target that would be a bit of a drive for me that says it has limited stock. I'll probably just wait for Amazon, which means I probably won't have the game until mid to late next week assuming Amazon starts shipping tomorrow.

Did they just turn Marth into Naoto from P4 for this game? Mask = Hat? I played the hell out of the Wii Fire Emblem game but my first was the one on GBA. If I had a 3DS I would want this.

I really am becoming a graphic wore after getting a new pc. Love the art style and all but the technical limitation of the hardware is just a shame for the texture. Wish they would stick with 2d sprite, maybe something like the Super Robot War series.

I just wish everything is on the PC with pc quality graphic settings.

Devil Survivor: OC, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Luigis Mansion and Castlevania:LoS:MoF all out in the UK before this but I want them all. That's just the 3DS.

The first 4 are all in march so I might have to hold off trying to buy a new phone.

This game really shows how Nintendo fucked up by making the 2 screens on the 3DS different sizes. The gameplay makes sense for the touchscreen but they wont use the smaller screen as the main.

The next DS should drop 3D and have 2 equal sized touch screens.

First thing I do in Fire Emblem is put the Fredrick character on the sidelines. If I don't then I just rely too much on them and that fails me later on.

Most people redo missions in these types of games for better results. There are always optional things that are not part of the main mission or don't cause a mission failure if they're not achieved, but you want to get everything out of a map. If you played tactics games (I'm guessing you don't based on your comment) then you'd know how naive your comment is.

Watching this convinced me to finally go get a 3DS. I'm not only buying it for this game, but it tipped the balance. If this pulls a Persona 4 Arena I'm gonna be pissed!

Best part of this Quick Look is Dave finding out that he misspelled is own username. So good. I think we've all done this once are twice.

wow this game is not for me. Hearing people talk about fire emblem doesn't sound so bad but watching this QL this is clearly not for me. I like turn based fighting games like this but that seems like a very slow moving games. Oh well I don't have several hours to sink in to anyways. I hope those of you who play it love it.

Yeah, like what? The game was made to be played with perma death on, and most people do restart after missions. How is he on a high horse? The only reason the fans view Fire Emblem as difficult is that the permadeath does add to the difficulty, because losing one character usually means to just reset and redo the entire mission.

@golguin: I don't really get what you are saying, english is not my primary language, so maybe i'm missing something? I've never implied that. I've played a lot of tactic games, i'd even say tactics rpg is my favorite genre, so i don't get why you call my comment "naive"

Wait... did Panne just turn into a werebunny!? I really hope she's a decent character because I wanna be using that shit throughout the game.

As someone who is playing through on Casual (20 hours in), the game is still not a cakewalk. You still get a game over if Chrom or your Avatar die, and if you're going for extra objectives like chests and character recruits, you'll still play through multiple times in order to get everyone into the perfect position. I guess it depends on what you're looking to get out of the game, but for me getting recruiting everyone possible and getting a cache of killer weapons is key, so Casual/Hard is a sweet spot.

Very good character, she's basically the beast version of Lon'Qu (The sword dude who crits all the time.)

Are the Fire Emblem games sequential or is it more like Dynasty Warriors where it's the same story with slight variations?

I wonder if Dave realizes you can speed up the battle sequences with A and outright skip them with the start button.

I think they're more like Final Fantasy games where they are self contained but have little things that are reminiscent of other games.
