Quick Look: Gran Turismo 5

it was weird in GT4 and it's weird here

it seems like Progressive play is broken in this video only streaming works

For a game that took 6 years well almost 6 years to make,i got to say it doesn't look that great?
it took them 25mins of crap and loading to have there first race,half the video is loading.Graphics look good but not like i thought they would...
you half to be hardcore HARDCORE racing sim fan to play this game any longer then a week.

This game would have been infinitely better if Danny Trejo told you your date a time weren't set correctly.

I'm sorry, but after playing the game myself, I just have to think that the guys are just doing it wrong.
 
I mean, yes, the launch is a mess, but besides the point, when a game gives you an 8 gig install did you just figure something like that wouldn't have a noticeable impact on the speed? It's just weird that they would just jump in and then act dissapointed when clearly the install is huge.
 
Also, I don't know who plays these games without a wheel. I love driving games but playing them with a controller is just boring. Also people talking about the graphics need to come back to reality, where the sane people here think this game looks gorgeous.

For some reason I had a lot more respect for this series before watching this video...

Also, this is why I always install games when I have the option to do so (on PS3 anyway, my 360 doesn't have enough room on the hard drive for more than one. 

Wait a minute. Because of time constraints, only 200 of the cars in the game are premium and have cockpit views. Of all the cars they could have put that effort into, they did it to a fucking Toyota Prius?! What's the Prius even doing in the game? Jesus christ, I guess we know why it took so long then.

It seems like the shadows on a lot of console games always look terrible. Edges all aliased to hell. Maybe I am just spoiled by PC games though. 
 
Also this makes me want to go play some Dirt 2.

I would just like to point out that there was no actual gameplay racing until about 23 minutes in and that the first race consisted entirely of hybrids.

Does the PS3 seriously not automatically adjust for DST? 

 
was this a PC game that was ported? UI looks like it should be mouse driven. 
 
being fair to GT5, it says simulator not game right on the title screen. 
 
(though it says its a real simulator, whatever real fake is)

Apparently Giant Bomb has forgotten the concept of the Quick Look.

Do people actually have car races on snow covered tracks?

Also that night level is one of the best looking Dreamcast games I've seen in a while.

I can't comment on the overall quality of the game, but I'm amazed that a high profile game like this has such basic geometry all over the place. A lot of the objects around the racetrack have super straight edges, even things like hills and trees.

I love this game, but sad thing is after doing the 45 minute install it still took just as long to go to GT Mode, and go to any option for the first time. 

While you guys are at it can we get a Farming Simulator 2011 quicklook?

This QL shows me everything I needed to know. This game is bad. Thanks for saving me some cash.

That was an audacious 8 minute intro video.

Hour and a half, along with two others today? I like the long Quick Looks, but I don't know if I can keep up with the video content anymore.

Absolutely, but holy shit there's a lot of rough edges to this launch. To me, GT5 + Logitech GT Pro wheel is still an untouchable combination on consoles, but I advise anybody who plans to play with a controller to stay the hell away.  "

It seems a little counter-intuitive to race multiplePrius'.  You know, from an environmental standpoint.
 
Also, amazing Quick Look.  My opinion on GT5 has changed sufficiently.  I originally planned to go out tomorrow to pick it up.  Now I must reconsider.

Flashy menus does not equal good game....

Terrible physics, bland graphics, uninspiring gameplay... dull dull dull

For me, this pretty much solidifies Forza 3 as "the" racing SIM. 
 
GT5 may sounds better on paper, but so much of it seems 'bumbling", as if PD have no idea how to make a game for this console generation. 

This is infuriatingly boring. Why is the only thing you can do in a driving game is race when it doesn't focus on races? Why do the textures on the tracks don't have any shaders at all? Why is the interface so complicated and how did they manage to make it worse when Lost Planet 2? How is the driving itself is so boring? I don't know. Never was a fan of the series but before forza came out it was the only game my friends wanted to play so I probably got more stigma than I should.
