No Brad this is NOT a hitman game, it has already been reported that there are instances where you are 100% in stealth mode, no detections and them a dude will see you regardless because of a scripted sequence COD style... it is NOT a hitman game.

I find it sorta puzzling that we have Hitman which is highly focused on being silent and not leaving a trace, while we also have Assassin's Creed which usually doesn't mind at all (and sometimes even encourage) if you hack and slash your way to your target. I might be wrong, but it just seems to me like it should've been the other way around.

"Some of the dialog is really well written" - yeah if you like fucking Eli Roth-dialog. Seriously, IO Interactive is a fine studio (I'm Danish myself), but their writters are AWFULL. It seems their idea of a well written character is; if you're too lazy to make deep, interesting characters just make them jerks who swears a bunch. Cuz dats c00l and stuff.

Yeah but I also hear that in many instances, while at the beginning you may have a bit of freedom on what route you takes to infiltrate, when getting closer to your target it narrows down considerably and becomes linear, pretty much like assassins creed, no matter what you do the dude will see you and you'll have to chase him and so on and so forth...

That and there were scripted sequences in the previous game too. White House in Blood Money for example.

Also you can turn the instinct mechanic off if you don't want to use it. Higher difficulties severely limit it, and the highest difficulty "proffesional" removes it completely at all times.

Turning the instinct mechanic off basically makes the game unplayable. The disguise system is completely broken on any difficulty level other than normal. There's a thread about this over on Hitman forum and an IO person responded saying that they may tweak reaction times in a patch.

wow the more I watch the worst it is, so you can hide huge sniper rifles like it's no big a deal. extreme dumb down confirmed.

come on you gotta admit that's bad, before you could only pocket guns up to submachine guns, you could only carry 1 rifle, shotgun etc and it would be visible at all times, could not pocket a sniper rifle (like it's supposed to be), and if anyone saw you with a gun like that without a disguise you was done, now it's like "yeah I'll just put this rifle in my pocket"

also that bear thing is beyond stupid

Looks boring as shit. What's the point of the game if there's a button that just shows you all the people and items through the walls. Does it completely turn off on the harder difficulties?

You can just not use it and yes it's completely gone on harder difficulities. There's also the mode that gets rid of your entire HUD except your crosshair.

Why do I get the feeling that all the people complaining that "this isn't a real Hitman game" are the exact same people who complained when Splinter Cell's game mechanics were re-designed for Splinter Cell: Conviction?

And they are right to criticize. There was plenty wrong with Conviction as a stealth-game. They tried to streamline the experience and basically screwed up the very core of what was fun about these games. The end result may have been fun for some people, but no, it wasn't really a great Splinter Cell game. And that's about its general atmosphere, also - there were numerous problems with bullshit retcons and a 180 degree turn in characterization, especially with Fisher and Grimsdottir.

If it were a reboot, it would be fine. But they made a completely different game and tried to put it into the existing mythos and atmosphere of the series. The hobo-Fisher game before that complete retool would have at least be in place in the game's canon and plot, because there were no signs of an attempt to turn the game into a gritty '90s throwback with an anti-hero who is grim like an anus.

That's for people who buy games so they can play through them in a weekend and then completely forget about them. Dads and the like. That's literally the reason.

I'm with Vinny, I could have sworn that parts of that video running in the menu was live-action. The hand on the shower door in particular looks really good. The rest of the game obviously isn't quite as pretty, but it's still pretty damn nice. Seems to run alright too.

e: I believe the documentary Vinny is thinking of is called Dark Days. It's on Netflix Instant last time I checked.

So....they are right is what you are saying? Conviction was a good game, but failed misserably as a Splinter Cell Title. Still, a good game (I guess, I hated it cause I expected Splinter Cell)

This looks like it's going to be like Silent Hill: Homecoming. A perfectly fine game in it's own right, but will constantly get shit on by fans because it's not a perfect HD remake of the same game they've been playing for 10 years.

Personally, I think this looks really fun. I loved the older Hitman games, Blood Money especially and still play it today. I realize they're trying something new and this really isn't a Hitman game in the same sense of the old series. I'm alright with that as long as it still has something engaging about that. To me this looks more like an interactive sleezy exploitation/grindhouse movie with all the weird characters, cheesy/awesome dialogue and explicit violence. I'm perfectly alright with that. Looks great.

The sad thing about this is that the true fans of the franchise have no option, this can only go 2 ways, either it sells well enough and they keep dumbing it down even further or it doesn't and they shelf the franchise for good... so we might as well get this one anyway... I'll wait for a steam sale though.

This Quick Look does a wonderful job of displaying one of the main problems with this game; the disguises. Hitman has always been about blending into environments like a chameleon but the fine folks at Io Interactive obviously wanted to try and fix something that wasn't broken and they are introduced a new system where anyone wearing the same clothes as you can see through your disguise. It might seem like an okay idea but now people can fumble through your disguise across the room, which is just fucking stupid. It also forces you to constantly avoid enemies at all times, which forces you to duck and use cover. It just isn't Hitman, it's now another competent stealth game. And I haven't mentioned other big problems I have with this game...
