If you're wearing a guard outfit, the other guards will recognize that you aren't one of them, but other people in the level won't question your disguise.

Basically you have to look out for people who might know the person whose clothes you've stolen. Like, the guards all know each other and can tell you're an outsider, but the maids and electricians and stuff won't bat an eyelid.

It's a great mechanic!

Sadly, most people don't see it that way.
They want their hands held through the whole experience.

Really wish I watched this before playing 20+ hours of the game. Having played those first levels, and especially the hotel one, at least 5-6 times to get all the challenges makes it super frustrating to watch.

It's interesting to see how Brad insists on using disguises, even though it actually makes the game more difficult in some parts, like in the Chinatown level where it's way easier to just stick with the suit.

Which brings me to some complaints: disguises doesn't really do you any good, unless you find a "super-disguise" like the janitor one in the hotel-level. You get spotted way too easy. I get that local hillbilly cops and electricians know their colleagues so well that they'll know when something's up, but generic henchman-for-hire-dude with ski-mask seeing through your generic-henchman costume? Or when you wear a hazmat suit, other hazmat-dudes recognize you in an instant even from the back? That is just silly. You're better off doing suit-only for the most part, at least on the lower difficulty-settings.

The game is alright, even though it's more "casual" and action-oriented than previous games. Most of the scripting stuff people are talking about are not true at all. It's true that a lot of stuff is dealt with in cut scenes, but you are doing the sneaking, the blending, and 90% of the killing. It's not true that you get automagically spotted when you're hidden due to scripting, unless you walk into a cut scene (which are behind doors 9 times out of 10 anyway). There are some dumb events like the infamous fight scene, but that's the only part I can think of that I felt was really really stupid and unnecessary. Cheesy cut scenes, dialogue and characters have always been a part of Hitman, so I'm not gonna complain about that.

It's full pants on head retarded that you can't save, and even more retarded that most of the level resets when you go back to a checkpoint (except for the target kills). You turned on a stove and rigged a gas pump as a part of an elaborate plan to take out a dude, activate a checkpoint, get spotted and then revert? Gotta set it up all over again, even though you checkpointed after the set up. I feel that it discourages setting up improvised pieces that aren't part of the challenges.

But I really enjoy the game, there are some true "Hitman" moments in there, and you get a nice sense of accomplishment when you stealth your way through a level. Also, play on PC. Not just for the graphics, but for better controls, and avoiding issues like the item/door button prompt Brad showed.

Never listen to Vinny tell you to do ppl.... saw him years ago talk Ryan into turning his good charactor in a Fallout 3 dlc into a bad kharma character. Vinny is a trip! Not that I am unhappy at all in any QL he is in .

I am more and more convinced I like this game.

Maybe the worst game you could ask either Brad or Vinny to do a QL of, and they put both of them on this. Funny stuff sure, but I'll have to go to Youtube to watch someone play through a mission w/o effing around.

Huh? I was just fooling around, but that guy seems to be speaking extremely and somewhat out of line. Like the fact there's something scripted at a point in the game ruins the game from being good in any way? Pretty dumb. Especially since like a one-off scripted moment(or maybe a few scripted moments at a point that could change depending on how you played) in a game that is usually very free flowing and open can be extremely effective because of how jarring it would be. Also saying how something is cheap on an easy difficulty being cheap is silly. It is like a MGS fan complaining that in MGS3 on the easiest difficulty getting the EZ Gun or something. Of course the easy mode will have things built in to actually make it easy.

Anyway, this game seems a lot like Dishonored and Deus Ex:HR, while not just a "graphical update" to the earlier & more hardcore/complex games, but still is quite a good game on its own and a worthy, well made sequel/spiritual successor for the most part at least.

A very entertaining quick look albeit a bit confusing. See this is why I'm not a huge fan of the Breaking Brad videos. It's way more entertaining to watch him fumble to an early gaming grave than it is to watch him triumph over adversity. Brad never seems sure of himself when answering Vinny's questions about the game. It's hard to discern if any of the information coming out of his mouth is accurate unless I'm seeing him actually do it on camera. Vinny was the perfect second to have for this game but then again he always is. I really want to buy this game. If the story is as dumb as Alex's review implies then I'm totally down. I'm probably one of the few people who enjoyed Prototype 2's stupid story so I'm not ashamed to admit that sometimes a dumb story is a plus. Thanks and keep making these great videos.

I never said it prevented the game from being good, I said that it prevented it from being a hitman game, and for that I am right, you take a game that, should be, stealth based and at one moment you add a scripted sequence that makes stealth meaningless, basically what the game is telling me is "look I know you busted your ass until this point to not being seen, but fuck it this guy just saw you because I said so", in previous hitman games you could ALWAYS go through an entire level without raising a single alarm, and not because of some stupid cheap gimmick as this "instinct" BS but because you took your time and was careful, and yeah it IS cheap, if you don't consider seeing through walls cheap I don't know what is.

Did the old Hitman games have something like a map that let you keep track of the AI in the environment? Maybe that was some other game, but I dont see how a map would be different from just seeing people through walls. And thermal vision is very cheap in other stealth games, makes them very easy.

@Dan_CiTi: well the map was a bit less cheap in which you had to actually switch to the map, couldn't move around while looking at the map, so you had to check the patrol patterns and plan accordingly, + enemy positions were disabled on the map on higher difficulties.

Game is alright, nothing majorly offensive like some would say but also not that great. When they give you a large map and a target to kill the game is amazing, when your mission is to run through narrow corridors or escape a halicopter it's pretty bad and the rest ist somewhere inbetween. It's okay...just okay

@ZeForgotten: come on, that's not even a level, it comes AFTER the credits FFS, what I'm talking about is completely different, I'm talking about going through an entire level completely stealthy only to be told that it didn't matter anyway because hey, scripted cinematic sequence.

@onarum: Doesn't make it any less of a Hitman game.
The Assassination Missions in Absolution are just like every other level in any other Hitman game.

The few missions where stuff is scripted the objective is never "Kill this guy" and almost always "Get to this room" or something like that, but never "kill the guy!". And all the blind hate on the whole "Instinct" system is also bullshit. You say that the map shows less info on higher dificculty and stuff like that. So does the instinct feature to the point where it's only used to start the Point Shoot feature-thingy and nothing else is shown. Playing it on Purist makes it an even better Hitman game than Blood Money could ever hope to be. And that's coming from a guy who's been a fan since the development of the first one and followed the games way too closely (I have three agent 47s standing all over my shelf! Three! that's too many!) And seen the ups and downs of all the games. 1 being the best because it was actually, you know, a challenge because it was new at the time. After that everyone kind knew what to expect and then just Silent Asssasin'ed(that's not a word!) all levels in 2, Contracts(which shouldn't be called Hitman 3 -.-) and Blood Money.

That just makes it sound easier than this game, because the map gives you an overhead view of the entire map. where as this is just outlines that can overlap and be behind all kinds of objects that may or may not be as clear as just looking at map of the area. Obviously with both of them you have to pause and plan out your route to get around each enemy's out patterns an such. Doesn't seem different enough for it to really matter. Other things about the design seem more important(some levels aren't as big as they could be) because the outlines are just for the easy difficulties anyway.
