Quick Look: Killzone 2 - Part 3

What difficulty is the game set on? It seems like a lot of the enemies are just standing around and I've heard on normal and lower settings, the AI is pretty weak. On hard the AI is supposed to be pretty good.

looks good. now, if sony would be so kind to release a ps3 with no blue ray or dvd drive at all, for, let's say, 200 bucks, and goes phantom all the way - i'm in.

Some of those parts looked almost real.

I enjoyed the interludes with Jeff and Ryan more than the actual gameplay.  If I had a PS3 though, I would definitely pick this game up.  It looks like it will be a good one and maybe something that Sony can finally use as a real system seller since all the other games they thought would have that title(Lair, Heavenly Sword, etc...) have not worked out yet.

Maan,I just fell in love with Jeff and Giant Bomb after watching those Killzone 2 quick look.Really funny :)
I got Killzone 2 early and so far I really like it,should be up there with those other amazing shooters I guess.
And lol at the last part! both Killzone 2 and Giant Bomb are awesome :)

I like how much effort was put in to maximize relevant video, and then the last 10 seconds of footage is Jeff griefing on a corpse.

That first bit of dialogue "Wow! That was a nice big explosion!" had a fucking typo in it. "exposion". NICE.

If people are wondering why Jeff always favors the ISA M82 assault rifle,it's because one of the most balanced weapons in a shooter,really feels good when you play with it.Really accurate too.

Each gun also has its moment,for .e.g;

The STA 52 assault rifle,is also balanced,but not as much as the M82,but its always there when your M82 runs out of ammo,it's good,usually used for the same range as the M82.

The  STA11 sub machine gun is there for you in short range battles,good fire rate and easy to use.

The STA3 light machine gun can be helpful when you run into a lot of enemies and don't want to reaload a lot,also most effective when you're not moving and fired in short bursts.

The M224 A1 is very powerful and you can easily kill the higs with this one,since it make more damage( that's what I noticed atleast)

and so on..So yeah every weapon is good for something.

Judging by how you translate your thoughts I can only deduce you haven't played the demo. If you had then you would know what is different about it and the "control controversy" that followed.

Halo was the kind of thing that you needed to own a Xbox console to understand. If you played it later on the PC, like I did, the game would look crappy. The levels were terribly designed and the gameplay didn't have any big difference from other FPSs. The main innovations in Halo were related to the console controls.

Killzone on the other hand introduces some things I think is a step above from other shooters. At least it got me interested in it, and I am not even interested in FPSes and I can't even finish most of them out of boredom.

First the control is heavier, which I think makes more sense. After playing the demo several times I got used to it to the point that I played COD4 again, and it looked crappy. In COD4 you can even run while crouching, it is ridiculous. The character feels weightless (and the animations are a lot crappier).

Another thing I liked is that they seem to have fixed the one worst flaws in FPSes in my opinion. The fact that the enemies as soon they spot you they either run at you or stand still shooting at you. This is what makes FPSes so boring for me. The enemies in this game are smarter and use cover intelligently. It is better than other shooters and it makes things more interesting.

I want to see how the levels are like, because if they are repetitive then this is a big minus. If they add variety for missions and levels then I think this will be one of the best FPSes ever made. And the cover mechanics works very well for this kind of war simulation. I missed it when I played COD again.

After watching this clip, I have to say  that I would buy a PS3 just to play a version of Killzone 2 featuring Jeff and Ryan.

LMAO funny, and @theGoldenCat7: Sony only allow the websites to upload a total of 9 minutes of gameplay of the game max worth of videos, and what Giant Bomb did was divided them into a 3 part thing, and the added 2 minutes of there own in those videos so it can be a bit longer. Thats why they are doing that in the video, I know is epictly amazing XD

Hilarious.  I didn't know Ryan and Jeff were playable characters in this game.  It just gets better and better.

EB Games just called me to remind me to stop by at midnite and pick this up.  Well, actually they want me to come in at 10 PM to join in the supposed festivities that my local store doesn't have planned.

Brilliant, as always. Not sure when I'll be picking this up. (whenever my tax money arrives)

I'm a big fan of FPS games, I own a ps3, and I played the demo. It's pretty and has good controls. The demo levels were dark, drab, unimaginative, and cramped. Some textures are muddy.

The game is getting a ~5 point pass in review circles because it appears on the ps3 and it's a big deal. It has story, character, originality, and level design deficiencies. These are evident in all previews, reviews, and in the demo.  For 100 point scales, just take any given review and subtract 5 points.

That was pretty surreal.
