Swedish developers always got things from Sweden in their game. Which is only funny for us xD Like syndicate, graffiti on the wall "Torbjörn för helvete!" "ThorBjoarn what the fuck!" Magicka, well it's basically all swedish =D

I'll do some Patrick complaining. Why the fuck does he keep referencing games that are nothing like this game. JRPG?!

This game is like BALDUR'S GATE! FUCKING BALDUR'S GATE! How can you miss this....

Diablo, Borderlands and JRPGs.... christ...

"There's random encounters on an overworld? What game are we playing?!"

These guys sound like they've never played a video game in their life.

How neither brought up fallout (the good ones by black isle, not the mediocre brown shooters by bethesda and obsidian) when talking about a post-apocalyptic rpg with an overworld map with random encounters is staggering to me.

I can understand Tricky not having played them, was he even born when they came out? But Vinny should've corrected that shit. JRPGs....Gross.

Vinny brought up the first fallouts in like the first 4 minutes.

Didn't take too much notice of this when it showed up on steam (as there's tons of little indie games popping up all the time) but thanks to GB crew, instantly sold on the game after seeing the QL. Game looks awesome & highly curious to see how it might evolve with it.

I remember reading an article about this in Edge magazine, and thought it sounded interesting. It's a real-time Fallout original, essentially, what with the overworld map but then real-time combat rather than turn-based. Looks great. Might pick this up one day.

All the recruits start off at 0 but the Grey have a level cap of 5, Green have a level cap of 10, and blue have a cap of 15. So you have to always have to buy new recruits every so often. Dont know if I like that because I would like to have the same 3 guys go throughout the game. Really puts no emphasis on the perma death that is in the game.

Edit: I've also find that a slayer is extremely more useful than the regulator. The added DPS way outweighs the stun the regulator has. Vinny, you are playing exactly how I am playing it. Run in with my squad of 3, spam my 1, 2, 5, and 6 keys as those do damage. Especially spam the slayer's '5' key. I have really got the strategy part out of it. The one thing I am starting to have to do is slow down and keep up my heals.

This game is terrible, combat is a mess theres no connection because you keep dropping them and picking them up in order just to have them level, don't bother with it.

Combat is just a huge mess unless your micro manage everything, when I was playing there were ranged units rushing forward to try to get into the fray when they should stay back.

Lots of smoke and mirrors for such a bad game.

@Wandrecanada: THIS GAME IS NOTHING LIKE BAULDERS GATE THAT HAD characters that matter, depth in combat, combat that made sense, DONT SAY THIS CRAP IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS THAT ONE.

Reminds me SOOO much of Fallout 1 and 2. Big open world, random encounters, post-apocalyptic. Love it. Now, once again thanks to the GB crew, I will be spending my hard earned money on yet another game!

And they're fucking charging for it? No thanks.

I paid $13 for Minecraft when it was way earlier in development than this. Hell, I'm in for half a dozen Kickstarters that aren't even in alpha yet. This kind of thing is awesome IMO, you get to shape a game's development to some extent by playing it and offering input. The Fat Shark guys are heavily into the Steam forum for Krater, they are constantly responding to posts there.

I'm just against that business model. Haven't bought Minecraft, haven't dropped a dime into any Kickstarter project.

A lot of older western RPGs had random encounters Patrick: Baldurs Gate 1&2, Fallout 1&2 instantly spring to mind.

This is a bummer. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/krater

TBH critic reviews these days can go bugger themselves, too much focus on nitpicking instead of actual game substance. For a lot of people a little "jank" or bugs don't matter that much unless it gets out of hand, especially the PC gaming crowd. At least that's how I approach games and some people i know do too. Then again there are plenty of people who will call a game shit for a few bugs. And a mindless TPS will get 90s for being polished and just not having issues. Obviously my rant on game scores is not aplicable to every publication, but it's a general vibe i'm getting and therefore I avoid metacritic like the plague, it's no subsitute for knowing your own gaming tastes and simply getting a bit of extra info from sources you trust.

Of course i can't speak for Krater yet, having not played it.

I'm getting more of a Tactics vibe too.
There just doesn't seem to be a substantial fleshed out characters/dialogue/story unlike BG or Fallout. In that sense it seems somwehere between those and a typical mindless dungeon crawler. At least from the stuff shown in the QL.

Looks really cool -- I'll pick this up next paycheck I think. Good quick look, though they point out a lot of things as new/interesting that aren't really new, but interesting. Looks very Fallout meets Diablo -- something weird about that statement... like it should make me way more excited than it does.

Took them long enough to liken it with Fallout. For the wrong reasons however. That overworld is straight out of Fallout 1 and 2.

Nice nods like the doctor in Norrmalm being named Dr. Alban and the guy outside IDEA being named Ingemar.

Edit: Oh and the T in the Krater logo.

I never got this either. I mean, I guess you can have whatever opinion you want of a person, but making it known you don't like someone on a public forum where the person in question can easily see it and constantly complaining about them seems really rude, like you said. Like, do people just constantly yell "I DON'T LIKE YOU" to people they don't get along with in real life?
