This has absolutely been the game I feel worst about passing up last year - I saw it crop up on so many people's Game of the Year lists, and usually in pretty high positions. Definitely checking it out for myself sometime in the next couple of months.

I finally found what I was looking for.

Something about me makes me allergic to character action games. While most people see this as awesome and had this on their top ten's last year this just looks horribly bad to me.

You can just parry the giant robot, dude. It makes perfect sense.

God I love this game, and Platinum in general. The moment where the vocals kicks in when you're fighting the Metal Gir is one of the funniest moments in games for me, just awesome. Great QL overall, really selling the game.

People should play it, from the looks of it it also looks awesome on the PC (shame about the locked 1080 though). The DRM/maybe not DRM situation is pretty shitty though.

This looks absolutely ridiculous in a very entertaining way.

According to RPS, it's literally already patched. I don't know myself though, because I still doubt very much that I'd like to play this game.

I just can't get over how amazing the music cues are in. The guitar riff that plays before the Sam fight is incredible! Pumps you up so fucking much,

Anyone else having problems with video downloads? My downloads are constantly interrupting for a few days now.

Tip for new players: Hard in this game is pretty much Normal in Bayonetta or Devil May Cry. I had a good time with my first playthrough on Hard despite having difficulty beating Bayonetta on Normal.

@laksa: You seem angry about something. Your whining makes me nostalgic for the days of "STOP LOOKING AT MENUS, RYAN!!!!" comments. You're not grouchy just because you poke fun at the absolute nonsense that is the MGS fiction.

I really hate that trope of the unbeatable enemy in the early part of a game. You can play a perfect game and have perfect understanding of the mechanics but you still lose the fight. It's basically a cutscene so take out the farce of interaction.

I have no problem with the intro, I thought it was funny, but I seriously don't understand why it has become standard to call out Metal Gear as being nonsense, when practically any games that spans more than 2 entries inevitably turns to nonsense. I don't wanna be a stickler here or whatever it's just that I like Metal Gear and people seem recently always say "the plot is fucking nonsense!!"

The only memory of Metal Gear Solid 2 I have is accidentally shooting the President of the United States in the chest with a remote controlled missile.

This game is not without its issues but it is by far the most "FUCK YEAHHHHHH" game I played in 2013 or in recent memory.

The game is great but this, this is some bullshit. Metal Gear has been all about realtime cutscenes since the first Solid and it's not like the prerenders look any different than the rest of the game.

There was a lot of talk about how this game was so huge and how Steam preloading doesn't allow for you to preload to alternate install locations (I know you can do junctions/symlinks if you really want to though) and this is what all that space is taken up by.

@okand: Pre-rendered cutscenes can go to hell but I'd rather take that than 10 gigs of shiftily compressed 720p cutscenes designed for consoles. That's a far worse crime than a game being 20 gigs.

@humanity: There's some bullshit plots out there (fucking Kingdom Hearts, man), but MGS is up there with the best/worst of them. Seriously, if someone tries to tell you the plot of the series with all its twists, it sounds like pure nonsense, which it is. It's nonsense in a good way, but there's a reason why so many single out the plot.

I will never understand people who actually take the plot of the MGS seriously in any way. I'm a fan of the franchise, but come on, Kojima et al hasn't made any sense for years.

Yes, I definitely had this in mind when I made my comment. I generally don't care for the modern "emo rock" type stuff found here but I was way into it while playing this game.

The Rising OST is soooooooooooo good!

I preordered this the second it was on Steam. I've been waiting for the PC version since they hinted at it. And holy fuck, for a company that has never done a PC port before they knocked it out of the god damn park. With the exception of a small fullscreen bug I'm getting, it is super well optimized, looks phenomenal, and runs at a steady 60fps always (until I start cutting something into THOUSANDS of pieces, then my PC starts lagging but that is definitely my outdated gfx card.) I REALLY hope this sells well so they give MGSV the same treatment, especially with FOX Engine being easily portable or whatever.

You really have to play this on hard at the very least. Otherwise the enormous parry window just turns every fight into perfect parry fishing.

This is the BEST story overview of the Metal Gear series I have ever heard.

Other than the disgusting prerendered cutscenes, I'm liking this game quite a bit

I don't understand how people like this soundtrack. It's god awful and like a terrible metal band a 13 year old would be into.

I think it's corniness fits perfectly with the silly over-the-top action that is happening onscreen.
