It should be marketed and called New Super Mario Bros. 2, but then they should pull of a Raiden in MGS2 and make Wario hi-jack the game.

Oh man that would be so good. Wario tears through the title screen and takes over the game.

I bet the reason for co-op only following one screen is because with 2 players both running 3D and following their own screen the strain on the 3DS hardware was too much. Brad even said his frame rate had taken a hit in co-op.

World was awesome because it was a world man. Hidden paths, secret exits, coloured blocks. All that jazz made it so much better.

Between the mistakes they did with the co-op, the lazy save system & just the general boring gameplay of this, it just makes this one easily one to miss from the look of it. While it's always good for Nintendo to try something new with it's core set of characters, this to me feels like they put it out knowing people will buy it because it's mario but made the game so easy that it might be easier just watching someone play it on youtube.

Hate to skip a Mario game, but I might have to pass on this one.

I liked the DS original but hated the Wii game. I may still check this out though...looks...ridiculous. That'd be after I get through with Mario 3D Land though. That game's great!

God, fucking, damn it people. I thought their nod to the weird community hatred for Dust was cute. Stow it.

As to the game we're talking about here, I'd recommend people play Mario 3D Land or the original NSMB (that DS cart will pop right into the 3DS).

I think the worst offense is the step back in Co Op VS the Wii version. It was obvious what should have been accomplished with each player having their own screen. Luigi as Tails (with that Raccoon suit, in more ways than one) is a huge bummer.

Mario couldn't breathe in space in Super Paper Mario and I'm pretty sure he wore a helmet in the space levels in Super Mario Land 2.

I don't like the new coin focus...it makes Mario look like Sonic and is damn rings.

I love me some Mario and was totally prepared to get this, but naw I think I've had enough. I've liked the gameplay of NSMB but the design and the music has never been very appealing to me. Also the freaking world layout in this game is so by the numbers that it makes me sick.

I'm still interested in NSMB.U, for what it's worth, but I'll have to see how it turns out first.

Oh, and this Quicklook was great!
