Quick Look: Ōkami HD

Anyone else have the video suddenly end about 15mins through? I downloaded it, had the same issue. Weird.

I've always been curious about Okami having played most of Clovers games but i've kind of gone off the Zelda format. (wouldnt mind another Metroid though)

Also, God Hand 2. Make it happen Capcom.

Okami is one of those games that I should play but I don't think I'd be up for a 40+ hour game like this. Skipping the text would certainly tempt me to play it.

Great game with some strange little perverseness. And yes, that text speech starts to get really annoying towards the end of the game.

It is a Zelda-type game. And it's a fucking great one too.

Playing this right now. About 25 hours in, farther than I got on PS2. I love it. The brush drawing and combat are quick and fluid. Gorgeous.

Errrrrrrrr.... I kind of liked the goddesss...

Colorful game. Drawing in the sun impressed me for the result.

.Drawing stuff on the PS2 and by extension the PS3+dualshock3 is super easy and really forgiving. Also this release is one of the best HD releases so far. It runs at a much more consistent framerate than the PS2 version (the only version I've played), while also being in 1080p. One of the best looking games looks even better now and it is GLORIOUS.

Also God Hand is amazing.

I'm intrigued by this game, and I kind of want to try it.

But the sound of the characters' speech is awful.

Having owned this for both PS2 and Wii I can't wait to do the painting aspect of the game with a normal controller again. The Wii version was still good, but the game was created with a normal controller in mind and it shows.

Whoops, I own this on the Wii but have yet to invest any serious time into it. Hmmm.

I'd like to give this game another shot.

I love how it looks and Clover is typically dynamite at both visuals and gameplay but for some reason, I could never get into it.

Without a doubt my favorite game of all time. Replaying the HD release, and my god, it is just as amazing as I remember it.

Okami is in-fucking-credible. It's so fluid and so much fun to play. There is always something new or interesting to do. It has amazing music and a sense of style you don't see very often. I'm maybe 70% of the way through the Wii version. I REALLY want the HD version but damn I don't have the time to start over.

I'm a Dadaism & Abstract Expressionism fan, so this Impressionism art style just doesn't quite do it for me. Maybe if I had some space weed though...

I wonder how many people bought this game and never beat it. I got it for my birthday; it's a great game, and I feel like I got near the end, but now that I think about it, I probably didn't. I don't know anyone personally that beat it. A friend of mine, when this game came out, I was talking to and he said he got close as well but didn't beat it. Maybe he did by now. Furthermore, I'm not really sure if I remember the butt sticking out. That's awkward. It seems like Brad's playing here by the way they're talking, but he's not.

Have never played this but man does it look nice. Can you buy playstation points cards or do I have to put my credit card info into psn? I'd rather not do that.

About the only bad thing I can say about Okami is that it drags on just a little too long. Well that and the gibberish.

I love the gibberish dialogue in Rayman: Origins because it has variety to it and it's funny and charming. In this game it just sounds annoying. Other than that, the game looks great. Been meaning to play this for a long time.

This game looks pretty great in HD. I almost want to buy it again.

I should say I played the Wii version. For the most part I liked the Wii controls, but some of the more advanced symbols were almost impossible to pull off. I don't know if that was my fault or the game's.

Game looks pretty dope! Will have to pick it up sometime in the foreseeable future

This. I'm still indignant at Capcom for not including Gene in MvC3.

I fucking love this game so much. Easily one of my all time favorites.

EDIT: I am shocked how terrible Patrick is with the paint brush. It is not that hard at all. For repairing things, press triangle(I think) and you get a much broader stroke so you can fill more of the area. Also, to make a sun you gotta make a circle, crappy looking heart-shape. I'd be fine with this if this wasn't one of his main criticisms against the game when it is totally his fault.

Okami is pretty bad with it's length, though. Feels more like three seasons than three acts, since the next villain is only revealed at the very end of beating the last one and never hinted at otherwise.

I've always been of the unpopular opinion that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a more enjoyable game than this. Okami is still a better game in pretty much every way, but Twilight Princess is simply more fun to play for me.

Watching Patrick attempt the brush parts was like watching a monkey trying to fingerpaint. The brush parts are totally fine on a dual analog controller.

I agree with Brad about the Wii version, though. Brushing with the remote was turrible.

Playing Okami HD gives me high hopes for a HD remastering of Zelda Windwaker. That might be a game changer if it comes out on the Wii U.

I have to say, this is certainly my favorite Zelda game since Majora's Mask; even better than windwaker for me. It's also not afraid to go super dark and risqué now and then, which is kind of refreshing for that kind of game.

But I will admit, their complaints are accurate. The text speech you just kinda have to tune out, and the whole thing is obscenely long. The game makes you re-fight bosses a lot, and it includes a fair amount of backtracking at times. But that said, besides a few time wasters here and there, the game is genuinely abundant in content, meaning that there's good reason that the story runs as long as it does.

It's definitely one of my favorite games out there, and certainly worth looking into if you can look passed the faults as presented here. The game is oozing with charm and humor.

The "talking" in this thing has to be one of the most grating things I've ever heard.

Another $5 DLC should be replacing that shit with Simlish or the ability to mute speech.

God Hand is tough, but fair, and has great humor!

If they really want to skip all the story that badly they might as well not play this game.

I REALLY can't agree with that. Okami just had so much more charm and whimsy that's been so tightly linked with Zelda, and Twilight Princess lacked that. It was so self-serious without anything to be serious about, it was so padded.... gah.... GAH. That's just me though.

Watching Patrick fail so badly at drawing and then blame the game for it is rather frustrating. Granted he just started the game, so I'm sure he's still learning, but watching him draw a sun and not even close the circle? Why? There's only one drawing in the game that I've found to be annoyingly finicky, and it's drawing that heart for the optional sidequest. Everything else you can do with 99% accuracy with the controller with minimal practice. I haven't tried it with the Move yet, but based on my experience with the Wii version, the controller is much easier and more accurate.

As far as the voices go, they're kind of annoying at first, but you quickly get used to them. In fact, I find it to be an intrinsic part of the game at this point. I wouldn't turn them off even if I could. The game does force you to sit through unskippable text too much in the beginning though, I'll give them that.
