Unfortunately this HD collection just made me buy the PS2 games.

bought this a few weeks ago. i am enjoying it.

The 360 version while still not great is miles better then the PS3 version.

Turns on new voices to hear them, talks over them.

I've beaten the HD Silent Hill 2 and never encountered the walk/run thing. Weird.

wow, I had heard that these ports were bad but man, this looks really crappy.

In before I watch it, predicting Patrick says 'Play Siren: Blood Curse.'

this video is to show what patrick means when he says thats not a shadow, fast forward to 5:45 and you can clearly see in the original version it really is a shadow in the fog compared to the scene in this video at 9:57

Its not the animation, its the framerate that goes down. I though you read the DF article?

Why is it odd that the PC version is the best? Better textures, higher resolution, better framerate

It feels like I'm the ONLY person on this planet that doesn't like Silent Hill 2 as much as SH1 or SH3! I was glad to be done with it when I played it once.

I dunno; I reviewed this collection and it wasn't THAT horrible. It does have a lot of problems, but these games are good enough to still merit the purchase.

But yeah, after cheevo hunting I'll probably use my PS2 copies primarily. Which is really too bad, as these games are excellent and deserved better.

yeah some searching on the internet revealed that. This is unfortunate. I kind of wanted to play these games.

First of all... they are not "REMAKES" they are so called HD PORTS, pc ports...

And they mostly suck, Splintercell is a mess, and I bought t for 20$, but Chaos Therory does look great still to this day.

Sony does an amazing job because the games run at 60 fps and have barely any jaggies...

Konami did a great job with mgs though, not SH...

DMC, RE4, CV... = average

POP = crap

It's sucks, but, we're gona have super HD soon, and these games will look like crap. In the end, go out and buy the Xbox or ps2 versions and get a great flat screen Toshiba or Sony sd tv... It looks and runs amazing. "The old games"

Silent Hill 3 is great. Very different to 2, but I enjoy them both.

@Marcness: You are. Silent Hill 2 was the game that did the whole Silent Hill formula 100% perfect.

Goddamn, that music sucks for when the detective dude is talking to her after the dream sequence. Holy shit.

@Marcness: You are not alone sir! Though SH2 is still dear to me, SH1+3 are at the top.

Almost worse than the rotating "wall of fog" are the replaced textures which are way too clean.

The black asphalt with the fresh paint and the clean sidewalks look so out of place.

Ico/Shadow HD Collection is the best re-packaging ever. MGS is pretty good as well, but it seems silly without MGS1, even though Twin Snakes isn't Kojima's work. This looks really poor, as a fan of the Silent Hill series.

The fog implementation is by far the worst thing about this collection. It makes it appear as if James is running around in an invisible fog-proof box, like something from an N64 game.

Definitely try and source the PC versions if you're looking to play these.

The ports are a stain on the original games. If you have the option at all, get the PC versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3, because those are a vast improvement over this collection.

Konami, Zone of the enders HD better be F-ing good because this HD update is running bad.

It's always funny when these quick looks get a little too nit picky.

It kind of makes playing the game not so bad. hahaha

You mean the dude who has repeatedly said that he plays through and finds something to love in all the Silent Hill games no matter how bad they are? Geez you are all a bunch of whiny assholes.

Silent Hill 3 > Silent Hill 2... there, I said it.

I think this collection is fine for what it is. Yeah, the port of SH2 is a little lackluster, but it's a hell of a lot easier to have these games on a current gen system than for me having to dig out my PS2 (wherever that is).

The port of SH3 in this collection is actually really good. The game still looks fucking incredible.

Patrick has every right to point out the bad points as it's not in the game's narrative or style, but rather problems with it's performance. He has even said that he likes these two games.

That's a shame. Oh well. At least I still have the original PC versions which are great (especially SH2). If you can find SH2 or SH3 for PC at a reasonable price I recommend those.

Also those new voices are awful. They don't fit at all. I don't mean to be mean to the actors but they aren't right for this. I understand the limitations but... that's just awful. I mean the original SH2 acting wasn't good, but it's hard to mess with charm which it had. I think the worst I heard though was the new Heather voice. That doesn't fit the character at all, and sounded to old.

Ya, just play the PC versions haha- if they're not gonna give them their due (and I know why they couldn't have the original voices in SH3- its craptastic but I understand their limitation there) don't re-release HD-ified classics. Period.

Well if I bought them both off of Amazon for the PC, then I'd be spending almost double the price I paid for this HD collection. So unless you know of a good cheap and legal way of aquiring the PC versions of these games, I think I'll stick with this.

Man the shadow on the main characters are really bugging me...

Jim Sterling already shit on this a few weeks ago but it's Silent Frickin' HIll 2! Had to buy it even with all the imperfections.
