Quick Look: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

Oh god it's totally another Sly Cooper game. Rest assured, Sanzaru, I will be one of the 10 people in the UK that will buy this game!

What does Patrick feel the need to always generalize a game with a "these types of games" comment while just assuming the audience knows what he's talking about?

Being a pretty big Sly Cooper fan, I'm pretty excited about this game touching on the Cooper family from alternate eras. Watching the cutscenes in all the other games, they always hinted and showed off some cool art for what the other thieves in the Cooper clan were like, so I can't wait to actually go and play as some of those dudes. Should be dope. Also the animation on the characters are really nice in this QL. All of the facial movement on Bentley in the mission binocular sequence looked great...Sly, I'll admit, looks kinda weird to me though...

I've never been a fan of playing as other characters. It feels like playing a Sonic game and being forced to use Amy.

Loved the previous Sly games so I'll be getting this one shortly, it's a shame Sony hasn't done enough to advertise this game was coming out.

Seems like a fun Sly game. It's 40 bucks so It seems fine.

This is a great Sly game , but it's not on the same level as the previous 3 . Worth $40 for sure . People should give it a shot because there aren't many games out there like this .

As someone who's a big fan of the PS2 games, it was a little rough to watch Kleptok play this, but I'm glad he kept an open mind about the game and seemed to enjoy his time with it.

Had I the spare cash or time I'd be getting this asap, I quite enjoyed the demo.

I need some fresh Vinny content to make up for all this Patrick bullshit.

Been playing this. I have wanted a new sly FOREVER. This game is more Sly Cooper. You either dig that or you don't. I fucking love it.

The "turtle's" name is Bentley, for god's sake. Does the GB staff even play these games before QuickLooking? Omerta: City of Gangsters was dreadful this morning and this was equally boring. Patrick said he skipped over the story parts because that's not why he plays these games. Guess what, someone watching this video might be interested in the story, especially someone who's never played Sly games. I've played this game several hours in, and it's charming, quirky and a truly great addition to the Sly library. Any fan of this series should pick it up, and anyone on the fence should give it a shot for only $40.

I completely burnt out on Sly 2 after all the levels ended up being so similar and formulaic, this looks almost exactly identical.

Looks neat. Can't see myself playing it, but it looks nice.

It's cool, Patrick. Though these QLs can sometimes come off as non-committal and error-prone when you haven't had a lot of exposure to previous entries, I realise that they wouldn't exist at all without you sticking your neck out to cover them. Having the footage here for me to make my own mind up about the game is more than sufficient.

Most of these features were in the last two games, which was when Sly got all "open-world but not really", including the treasures and bottles and Thiefnet and multiple playable characters and varied mission content, so it seems that the new developers are keeping to the series's strengths in order to do right by the fanbase, sort of like with that new Halo. Can't blame them. I'm just mighty bummed that the European version won't be out for another month and a half, since it was the one February release I was looking forward to.

Whenever any of you talk about Sly it just depresses me. Is it too much to ask to have at least one member of the crew that's played them, loved them, and remembers them enough to have an intelligent discussion about them? You guys couldn't seem more ambivalent about a game if you tried.

And I can't believe you Patrick. You, the artsy fartsy indie dude who plays weird adventure games SKIPS the story in SLY?! Just put down the controller, man. You aren't worthy of these games.

You did a fine job sir. All I can think of when you describe revisiting areas, and completing different objectives each time, is Super Mario 64's level design being very similar.

This game looks great, wish it was on the 360.

I like the Sly games, but there really didn't seem like a reason to buy more than 1 of them. I guess people who missed the PS2 games can get this but as a moderate fan I didn't see anything that made me interested enough to try the new one. Apparently Sony didn't either cause they sure aren't marketing it well.

Glad I am not the only one who was turned off by that. Sometimes it can be played off for laughs, but it really seemed like they were trying to be serious there.

@Rox360: Trolling is being a prick on the internet because you can. That's exactly what patrick did to start off this comments section. This would have been just another uninformed quicklook that would have passed under the radar of most with a handful of patrick hater comments, but his glib comment to start things off created a cesspool of comments.

Patrick should respond to the criticisms of the haters or just ignore it entirely. Poking fun at it just makes a big problem worse. I usually feel bad for all the hate patrick gets on this site, but he deserves it after that first post. He works for giantbomb, he is not the usual idiot commenting on here. How can he expect the readers to grow up if he refuses to do so himself?
