This seems pretty cool, but unfortunately not enough to make me buy a vita. Maybe if the price were to drop more or maybe some sort of package deal with the PS4? That would certainly help.

I am so glad that Giant Bomb now has the capacity to record Vita Quick Looks. As someone that owns a Vita, I think you guys should go back to some of the older releases.

That book just gives me flashbacks of Neir with Grimoire Weiss. Not that that's a bad thing, I loved Weiss.

Agreed, "kill stuff" is still far, far more interesting than the junk rpg's often use as filler, such as "pickup 10 randomly strewn items" or "wait for 6 drops of these items".

If the combat is fun, then fulfilling the kill quests is fun, and if the combat isn't, then the game isn't worth playing anyway.

They had me at talking book. I'll have to try the demo out. Need to dust off the Vita.

I was more referring to the emo poetry in the weird red font that pops up all over everything...sounds like night wish lyrics... maybe goth is a better descriptor... but it keeps talking about the endless nothingness of suffering anguish and blah blah blah...seems hammy...

Just go back and look at how he talked about Borderlands. I am surprised he enjoyed it so much haha. Blastin' dudes all day as the solider.

@the_ruiner: I found those random text things funny as hell. Like the poems in the Final Fantasy 7 games or something but nowhere near as amazing.

Watching this and the way its plays with the skills and everything really make me wish a new Phantom Dust would come out

I tried the demo and then bought this. This is a pretty gosh darn good game and it's perfect for those 10 minute rounds. It looks and sounds good and the crafting/sigil stuff gets pretty deep and collecting stuff is pretty addicting.

Also you can bring your demo save to the full game which is pretty neat.

Pretty much agree with the assessment of "some neat mechanics / systems, but seems like the gameplay would get super monotonous". I downloaded the demo, but couldn't even finish it before I got bored and deleted it. There needs to be more than a zillion 5-10 minute kill X monsters missions. Even having a big crazy boss every so often isn't really enough of a change of pace. And I don't think there is enough complexity to the combat, from what I've seen, to keep things engaging over an entire game.

So glad to see a Vita quicklook! It looks great, by the way.

I bought the Japanese version of Soul Sacrifice, and I can attest that it's perfect for my 90 minute commute. I still end up playing it a bunch after I get home, and even sometimes during lunch break at work...

I think the combat looks a bit monotonous in the QL because Jeff almost only used the same 2 melee spells the whole time. I equip 1 healing spells and 5 offensive spells of various types, and both melee and range. Bombarding the bosses with flying boulders and spears, shooting electric roots at them when closing the distance, forcing them into a corner with the golem and then wailing on them with a god hand when they're staggered and stuck is a hell of a lot of fun.

Will you guys do a Gravity Rush quicklook next? That gem of a game deserves more attention than it gets.

I hope they'll do a Ragnarok Odyssey Quick Look now when they can capture video from the Vita. As far as games getting compared to Monster Hunter, Ragnarok Odyssey is imitating pretty much every aspect of it, pretty blatantly. Surprisingly, it's also made by one of my favorite studios, Game Arts, who did Thexder/Fire Hawk, Grandia, Lunar and Silpheed back in the day. So, with that and the older PSP Monter Hunter games, fans of that genre can still play on the Vita.

I love my vita but both this quicklook and my time with the demo make this game seem like hot trash.

I still have yet to see a game that has really made me want to get a Vita. I almost got one last year, but I haven't. Who knows maybe there will be a PS4/ PS Vita bundle in a few months.

@the_ruiner: How do you even manage to play videogames then? This is about on par with 90% of videogame writing.

I play a lot of bethesda, bioware, and rockstar games...not really an issue...

And frankly, writing is one of the weakest parts of Bethesda's games. It's not completely terrible, but it's thoroughly mediocre most of the time.

I certainly prefer quality over quantity, and Fallout has great character writing, and more importantly the Fallout series has great writing that factors in a lot of player choice... so that game can last me the better part of a year considering I play it about 3 times to see all the outcomes and to try new things.

This game is a lot more fun than it looks. Using the different offerings is great and there is a decent amount of customization. You can boost items, combine them and so forth. If you have a Vita, you really need to take a look at it. One of my favorite games on Vita right now. Exclusive or not.

This game had some massive, gaping flaws but the story and the framing device were SO GODDAMN GOOD.
