Just watched my GF play through all of the Beck levels while we were both baked. 15 bucks extremely well spent, imo.

I'm so glad I saw this now.... I was on the verge of picking this up on PSN due to all the buzz but after watching the QL it definitely looks overhyped.

That ending was so totally worth sticking through the whole thing. I've seen every single quick look and that ending just cemented my devotion to never leave early.

I like the look of this, and like the idea of colecting sounds in 'the campaign' you make player a level with, a simplified LBP if you will. Also I really like the colour pallete.

Really enjoyed the game. The campaign levels were such a joy to breeze through, the Beat School is short & sweet, and the Death Mode levels are.... addicting but dangerous. Building levels is a time sink BUT it's surprisingly easy. I actually plan on buying some graph paper today so I can sketch out some level ideas and make them. Something I haven't done since I was a kid and I'd doodle Super Mario levels.

I love the style, but I think I'm done with music centric game design, whether in a twin-stick shooter or a platformer.

Hmmm, lots of good talk about this game, and a 5 star review from Alex, but this quick look doesn't reveal it to be anything special. Most of this video is them discovering its limitations. The gameplay seems way too simple, looks like it plays like that Tales From Space game and World of Goo, but without challenging levels and variations. In this, you can either make the music sound recognizable or the platforming puzzling, not both. They're right that it's more toy than game. So it should be .99 on iPhone.

I would totally buy this based on the aesthetic alone and even more so now that I understand the mechanics. Pity about that Vita thing though.

This looks okay. I don't see what the big deal is about it (many critics--including Mr. Navarro--gave it fantastic reviews), but it definitely seems worth the $15 asking price.

Also, Jeff' and Vinny's Ruffles discussion at the end was priceless.

I'm genuinely confused why anyone would give this game such high praise. Seems pretty generic and overly simple to me. Maybe I just need more drugs/alcohol to appreciate it. =P

The level that Jeff made was pretty cool and that Abyss one was too but I don't see how this is 5/5 good.

You should give it a try. I really does all come together when you're just sitting back and enjoying the music and how you interact with it. I was initially sceptical too but it does deliver.

Through most of this video, I was like, "Hmm...maybe I shouldn't have bought this based off of Alex's review and a sale price."

And then with four minutes to go, I suddenly fall in love with Sound Shapes.

Really, any game that relies on music is kind of like this. I mean, Rock Band/Guitar Hero can look pretty dull but those were a lot of fun.

I don't understand why this game is particularly interesting. The music is decent, I guess, but the game seems pretty dull to play.

If I wanted a game where my gameplay indirectly adds to a music track and when you really get going it's awesome, I'd buy the Bit.Trip games. Except, oh wait, I already did, and those games seem way more enjoyable than Sound Shapes.
