The timeline on my personal interest in this game:

(Game gets announced)

"That sounds like a cool thing. I mean, I loved the shit outta Skyrim. Bring it on!"

(I promptly forget about the game until it gets released)

"Oh, that's right! Eh, I don't think I'm really all that interested now."

(I watch this Quick Look)

"Actually, this looks decent, and maybe I could do with some more of the Elder Scrolls style of adventuring..."

(I remember it requires a subscription)

"...or not. Time to finally check out that Skyrim DLC, I guess!"

(But it's still in the back of my mind that I really didn't mind the way the game came across in this video. Maybe one day I'll check it.)

Matt REALLY likes FOV sliders, huh? That's not the first time he asked if the game has one. And I can't even think of any semi-modern games that had one. Hell, the only games I can think of are Quake III Arena and possibly UT.

What are you smoking? Most games have FOV sliders, go boot up Battlefield 3 or 4, a Treyarch Call of Duty, BioShock Infinite or the myriad of other FPS with them.

Ah. That makes sense. I don't play FPSes. The last one I played was Farcry 3. I do play other first person games though, so it makes sense that Gone Home or Skyrim or whatever is lacking a FOV slider.

@allison: I'm not sure exactly how you're measuring "lithe-like" and I don't want to be ignorant, but even very athletic women in the real world are generally not bulky as all hell like dudes are. I'm not saying it's impossible but at least as far as realistic looking humanoid shapes go I don't think they're depicting something very far from reality.

Everything about this feels like a very capable MOD to any generic mmo. The presentational UI elements, sound, and background mechanics scream Elder Scrolls (or Skyrim specifically) but everything else to it's core says throw away time suck mmo.

I guess I am lucky but it doesn't bother me because I don't get motion sick at all, some Call of Duty games had weird FOV though, like everything is overly zoomed in because they use a console setting which is meant to help visibility when sat away from a TV, this breaks a bit when you're sat in front of a monitor though so games should all allow the adjustment!

This looks really bad. Why not do it like the original Guild Wars? Instance the world but all capital cities are where all players congregate. Then you can party up and go out without all this crappy, cliche mmo business. I find the idea that you cannot instance things to be kind of...outdated.

Every (first-person) game should have one. Getting motion sick from playing games is terrible.

@dezztroy: So, a too narrow FOV makes you motionsick? Or too wide? Just curious because I'm pretty resistent myself, I don't even notice anything when playing something like flight combat games in 3D.

my friend if been playing since the 5 day headstart my personal impression is it is very similar to skyrim with some exceptions. The fighting is a little bit more simplified esp dual wield. the spell system is a little bit more simplified both of these i assume are due to compatibility to gamepad users.

looting containers is only profession related and the professions themselves are pretty simple to use.

the lore is in there but you can skip by it though in my case i read everything and it is quite interesting.

The combat almost looks better than Skyrim to me. Here your weapon actually hits the enemy and they react to it.

Never played an MMO in my life. Love me some TES. I bought it, I played it, I really liked it. I honestly do not understand the hate whatsoever. It also looks great IMO.

This looks really dull. Are all the life bars red, like on players and ai, makes sense in pvp (if so), but in pve, why?

@thornie: Might be because its your first MMO, most people have a soft spot for their first MMO. If you have played the genre a LOT (I have, it is generally one of my preferred genres) it doesn't add a lot to the table.

Agreed with the quick look team, just randomize the creation part, switch the hair to something good then go. Some of the nuanced sliders are just silly when you zoom somewhat out to never be able to see the small slider features.

The UI isn't great, but I honestly think it's 10x better than the original Skyrim UI on PC. Even with SkyUI, the mouse driven stuff feels clunky and just bad.

Also, just speaking for myself, I would have preferred if they sank that multimillion dollar budget into a more expansive single player Elder Scrolls game with some optional multiplayer mechanics layered on top. Why did they think it was a good idea to make an MMO when there are tons of examples of them failing?

Not sure why everyone says this is so unlike Skyrim. Looks pretty similar to me, in fact maybe even a little more polished in certain spots.
