I thought this game was great last year but did we really need another Quick Look of it?

Vinny is spot on as usual. Yes, TressFX makes her hair look like garbage and yes, the new face just looks like they made her more generic and added a bunch of makeup. The game is really good though but I'd rather play it again on PC. Demanding full price for this upgrade is most certainly not justified.

You know, I wanna see them have an option to have low definition Lara. Something like this:

PS4 slayin' as usual. Don't know why anyone would choose to play multiplatform games on the significantly weaker Xbone.

They switch over to the PS4 13 minutes in.

Great looking/running version of a GOOD game. I agree with Brad that the game needed more tomb raiding and puzzling than shooting. The graphic violence went overboard like a lot of games do lately. It put me off and didn't really make me feel for Lara as she would just end up walking it off and then massacre a bunch of guys with guns.

@believer258: Yep, I was waiting for it since I unfortunately didn't play the original, and am getting this today. So I'm interested. Oh, and, this isn't directed towards you, just me saying, as I can see here, the subtitles are terrible. I don't like the black around the words at all. I hope you can change that, though I doubt it.

Man, I had so much fun playing this game! This QL definitely makes me want to fire this game up again.

Played the master race version, interested to see how this one stacks up.

From what I understand, this version features more differences from the pc version than was mentioned here. Not as simple as buying the pc version and it being the same thing besides her face being different

That said, Tomb Raider is a fantastic game. Also is that a new outfit?

Slow, yes. But they could have done something with, say, Might and Magic X, or maybe do another one of those Unfinished things with the beta of Wasteland 2 that's on Steam now, or maybe something with that Bravely Default demo. Or any other number of indie games that @nyxfe just mentioned.

Whatever, I'll probably watch this because I thought Tomb Raider was great, I just wanted to get that sentence out there, noted, and then promptly ignored.

Basically this for most games last gen. Maybe I'll give this another shot. Bought it on a Steam sale at some point.

The ps4 version is the definitive version of the definitive edition

For me it made up for the lack of Tombs with a lot better and varied platforming. I especially loved jumping at walls and manually digging my pick into them. Felt really cool, like I was actually doing something rather than just pressing forward to climb - a rare sensation in modern titles.

This is such a weird release. "Definition Version?" Okay . . . the only dlc for single player is those outfits, none of which are interesting/crazy enough to have spent money on; everything else is for the multiplayer which no one will play. This is no Bethesda Game of the Year Edition, is what I'm saying.

Tomb Raider is good, so it's cool for people who missed out on it and also have a PS4 or Xbox One. Do those people even exist?

The lighting also seems much better on the PS4. If you compare the last scene on the One and then compare it with the Ps4 footage you can clearly see that.

Yes, I meant to get it on the 360, but never got around to it. I'm going to pick it up on the PS4 later this week.

I'd say that I kinda prefer the lower but constant FPS of the XBone version than the stop start of the PS4 (I own a PS4 not XB1 so chill on the flame wars) I already own this on PC, though, so I'm not interested anyway. It's not exactly definitive enough to warrant a 2nd purchase!

that does NOT run at 60 at all. smoother for sure but not 60!

The ending came out of left field? Not really its a tomb raider game. Do you forget you kill a dragon in the first one?

@joelalfaro: Are you watching it in a HTML5 browser? Because that's what you need for 60fps youtube for one thing. If you downloaded it, you need to watch in a mediaplayer that plays 60fps properly - my VLC doesn't but Windows MediaPlayer does.

Dragon was number two. The villain of the first game was an Ancient God-King of Atlantis. Perfectly normal.

Truly, this is the definitive age of tombs.

Someone let me know if they spot anything resembling a Depth of Field effect in the Xbone version, tyvm. (screentearing = doublebuffering due to esRAM limits, DOF getting cut for the same reason?)

Never finished this game on PC becouse some shit got in between but i will pick it up on PS4 and have another go.

They did add a bunch of stuff that makes it look better than the pc version. People have been doing side by sides for days and most shots look better on PS4.Stuff like in a heavy thunderstorm on the pc version the trees are completely still while in this Definitive edition the trees are whipping around wildly and it looks pretty cool and adds to the atmosphere. A lot of other stuff too. Not saying if you already played it that this is so different you need to play it again, but all the comments from Brad basically saying there's nothing different or better about this than the PC version except a different face are incorrect.

Also, you could tell it pains Brad so much to say the PS4 version is better. Every time he said it he had to add some qualifying statements about the Xbone version being fine, or the PS4 not always being 60. He even lied about the xbone being a consistent 30 even though DF showed that that's not the case with it dipping to 24 at points. The bottom line is:

ps4: avg fps 53

xbone: avg 29

@deadpanjazman: The framerate on Xbox is not constant, or locked at 30fps. It fluctuates, as does the framerate on PS4 - Xbox just fluctuates on lower average, capped at 30fps, and going as low as 20-ish.

Brad, the PS4 gives you voice commands because on the system they are not just camera-based. You can use the packed-in mic that you plug into the controller to control the system with voice commands.

the Xbone version drops below 30fps a lot though, which to me is way worse then dropping from 60 to 50 or 40 every once in a while.

If I was going to play through this again, I would still stick to the PC. It would be easy enough for them to patch in a lot of the environmental effects for the Steam version, but I have no doubt in 1-2 months we'll see this drop on the PC asking for another $50.
