Quick Look: Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

An early review of the new movie said, "Transformers 4 makes Transformers 2 look like Transformers 1."

That really scares me, because 2 is one of the worst things ever made.

It's been a lot of Jeff and Drew, and I like it.

I really enjoyed the first Transformers and third one. I thankfully never saw the second one which most people act like is the devil incarnate. The first and 3rd ones also were pretty decently reviewed so hopefully the 4th is more like the third or first. If the fourth makes the second look like the first then I fear for those moviegoers.

Robo-Diablo? Oh, if only Futurama's Robot Devil was in this game...

EDIT: Also, would giant talking robots really refer to each other as "men"? That seems odd.

I can't believe they played this for over 40 minutes.

I have no nostalgia for Transformers since I didn't see a single episode of it as a kid, but holy shit do I hate everything about how Michael Bay's Transformers look. Just the face of these robots, ugh.

Anyways, this game looks like a pretty mediocre movie game.

I think it's super sad these guys are making movie tie in nows. At least the first game was interesting and their own thing with their own designs. Which is really what it had going for it with decent playability.

Has game audio been really low on the past few videos for everyone else? Shovel Knight's was good, but this and Spintires almost had no game audio.

Hell yes. On the podcast, every time Drew opens his mouth he has something interesting to say or ask. I always wish he opened his mouth more! (Giggity?) So it's great seeing him step into a more lead role in these!

The Lockdown character's face looks like someone took an N64 face texture and tried to make it as polygonal as possible.

Its not the same developer as the last 2 non-movie games.

I'm guessing it's because Brad's probably on a post E3 vacation. I'd be willing to bet that next week, we'll be getting a whole lot of Brad and Jeff, and Drew will be away.

Everything about the scale of objects in this game is super fucked up. It looks like the environments are normal sized and your dude is normal sized but then the cars and shit are super tiny. Then when you turn into a car you are as big as a bus, but shouldn't you be the size of one of those tiny cars? There is other stuff too...

This game looks like it's been made by template so much it's offensive.

This looks awful. I was a big fan of WFC and FOC... :/ Sucks.

@morningstar: I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing that. The in-game audio has been off on a few videos lately.

Also, this game looks like Slave Zero.

This doesn't even look as interesting as the game that came out around the the time of the first movie.

Matrix of Leadership = Wisdom. Dark Spark = Power. Find the Doodad of Courage and have it all Transform into a Triforce of shitty movies and games....

It almost makes the dreadfully boring gameplay worth watching!

Except Myst is a great game that was groundbreaking at the time of its release, no matter what Jeff says. ;)

I'm pretty sure they even just straight up tore music out of the previous two games for this, the whole thing just looks really lazy. On the subject of the first two though, I really liked the music they went for: heavy guitar riffs over orchestral stuff really appealed to the part of my brain that loves robot-cars.
