Man, I loved playing this since 2 as well. Lion's my stand-by character. This seems like it added a bunch of training and balancing content, like VF4: Evolution, though paying $30 for customizable bundles seems stupid.

Goh was in VF4 Evo, and P+K+G does low throws (which usually the heavier characters have). They also had a version called Final Tuned that was only for arcades.

This was surprisingly fun to watch. I kinda like this game, the music, the visual understatement, the gameplay flow... might pick it up at some point.

Virtua Fighter is crazy deep, you pretty much should learn one character and stick with it. Like Jeff, I'm an all-Sarah-all-the-time player since VF4. I've also, uh.... enjoyed dressing her up in past releases.

Despite the fact that this game requires an INSANE amount of time (an amount of time I actually had to give it around the VF 4 time), I might grab this. The price, certainly, is right.

This game looks and sounds like something from 2000.

I got this free with Playstation Plus, and I'm really digging it. It surprised me how much fun it is.

In terms of arcade revenue, Street Fighter is actually behind both Tekken and Virtua Fighter.

VF5 was the 1st game I bought for the PS3. I haven't played it since then, but i want to now. Also it was total bullshit that you only got money for losing matches not winning.

I forgot this was free on PS+, I should at least check it out, looks good. The fact that the players are apparently super polite is encouraging as well, especially since I'm not the best fightin' game playin' dude.

VF is one of my favorites, I still play VF5:Online every now and then on 360. Jacky's been my guy from the beginning, though I will play around with other characters as well.

I wonder why they took the sumo guy out of 4 and 5(vanilla).

Also, I agree with Jeff's sentiments. I dedicated myself to Jacky and I ended up having a total blast with it. I haven't played this in a very long time, and I loved it when I was playing it.

If you're in the U.S., and don't have PSplus, you can get the game and all add-ons for only $30 like I did. But you must do it before 6/19.

Jeff forgot about the best part of the game: the ability to change to soundtracks from ANY previous VF game (even the awesome VF5R). The VF5FS soundtrack is pretty terrible.

Wait a second! At 11:10 in this video, Jeff hits QuickPlay off his home menu, and almost immediately gets a list. Is this a video edit or something? It doesn't seem like it, but damn, I haven't had the QuickPlay list on my 360 come up in under 30 seconds in, like, forever.

For me VF5 online was always a lesson in anger management. I could compete enough to get to the final round where I would just CHOKE. And then, rage... hard.

VF has a real cheap, ugly aesthetic, aside from that it's quite good.

Yeah, especially considering how much he loves Mortal Kombat, a series no one outside the US gives a shit about (though the last one was great).

I always loved playing VF put I could never find people to play against on the older non-online consoles. I'd usually play a couple matches against a friend, stomp them and then we'd switch to something like Tekken or Soul Calibur or *shudder* Bloody Roar 4.

...and the fact that anybody who plays fighting games seriously, especially in the professional circuit dropped that shit months ago.

This really isn't a pretty game

I have always been a fan of VF's more subtle, realistic style when compared to other fighters.  All the moves seem to make sense and it is easy to watch and follow what is going on.  My friends used to play and I enjoyed watching them play VF more than any other fighting game.   Unfortunately I have never been able to excel at any fighting game, so I can only play with other failures. Still, YAY VF!

Haven't even watched this, but I know Jeff will beat Brad if they fight.

I think i would miss the Dojo mode, if thats what it was called, where you level up a character and fight AI for promotions and stuff. thats what really got me into the series.

Easily my favorite fighting game series of all time. If you want a balanced, deep, 3D fighter then look no further.

Someone should mention to potential DLC buyers that there're no free "Compatibility Packs" for this game. If you buy any of the character packs, the only people who will know are you and other people who've purchased the packs. I play Vanessa and none of my friends can see my customizations and vice versa. The only time I see the DLC online is when I'm fighting another Vanessa who also has it.

When I first heard that music, I thought my computer was locking up....

I've received nothing but positive comments from everyone i've played against in this game so far. Its a great game with a great community.

Yeah, it's got me interested as well. I've always liked fighting games, but the communities have always put me off. Very cool if VF fans realize that not being assholes is a good way to grow the game.

The reason why they made the costumes downloadable is because of XBLA's download size limits apparently. Hence why there is no "buy all costume" pack and 2 separate bundles.

Further more each of the game comes with two costumes but if you buy a pack you get additional 4 costumes and 600 to 900 items to customise your character with so it's not as bad as most fighting games value wise.

Dead or Alive has made it hard for me to play 3d fighters without counter

I don't know why but I couldn't stop laughing at Jeff just buying the costume packs

You mean Kumite mode (in VF4), or Quest mode (in VF4 Evo and 5).

Yeh Kumite rings a Bell, its basically the one mode i played since i didnt have an internet connection back then.

Basic xbox download rules still apply here, sorry.
 
Yes they should always stick in the active downloads but... they don't, blame microsoft.
