Quick Look: Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

God damn it, Jeff. You just spent $30 on fucking costume DLC. That's absurd.

Game looks awful.

Virtua Fighter isn't really my kind of game, but I'm pretty amazed by the community. I really couldn't believe it when that guy was beating down on Jeff and actually stopped to give him a chance.

I had exactly the same reaction to that knee-hit sound as Brad and Jeff. That is some classic...knee sound....right there..

So did Jason smooth ever find out he was on this and come to say high?

There's a Jeffery and there's a Brad.

Finally a real fighting game. They definitely should have been making VF6, but VF5 was pretty good at the time. Still holds up well. The kiddies who want flash had better stick to SF or MK and memorizing combos.

There were several revisions to Street Fighter 2 before they even got around to Champion Edition.

All the Mortal Kombats had multiple revisions.

Unless you're talking about something like f'n Yie Ar Kung Fu.

Finally someone else who agrees. Fonts with serifs in them do NOT belong on displays with low resolutions such as 720p or 1080p (or god forbid lower). I can't understand why nearly every single Japanese game makes this same mistake. They're extremely unreadable at first glance and take up too much space that another font would make better use of.

Or consider this. Maybe they like the challenge. It would answer why the most technological people in the world still use flip phones and tell time by weird symbols on hipster watches.

Final Showdown is too good. I'm completely hooked.

Just got PS plus last week and this was the second game I downloaded (first was Hard corps uprising) and it's fantastic!

I love games that have good pvp sportsmanship. I usually dont get that in many games but Dark Souls had a similar experience like this with the posetive message feedback.

This looks like fun. I wish I knew what makes me more or less tolerant toward fighting games, but there's just something intangible that determines whether I freak out at the sight or them or actually enjoy them. I haven't seriously played a fighter ever. Just had brief bouts with SF2 on the PC when I was too little to know what I was doing, messing around with MK2's multiplayer on a friend's Genesis a couple of years later, then borrowing SoulCalibur 2 on the GC from a friend. Or did I play it on my brother's modded Xbox...? I can't even remember...

Anyway, there's a bunch of them and I can't see myself seriously playing a fighter, but there are some that I really enjoy watching and sort of wish I could be good at. MK9 is one of these. Possibly because I'm familiar with the characters from my youth, but I have no problem looking at that game and understanding what's going on. This quick look has taught me that VF5 is another. But show me Tekken, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, SoulCalibur or virtually any other game and I just gloss over and fail to grasp what either player is even trying to do. It's something I like to think about...

And to help me understand this phenomenon more, I wouldn't mind an extended look at VF5! It looks like the rare kind of fighter I wouldn't mind trying. And the community sounds super great, which helps a lot.

vf5 was my first ps3 game! i had fun playing against my bro...maybe i should pick up this updated version since i sold the old version.

Jeff, you had to download that, if you want to get it back you can go to your download history and download it again, or you can go to the downloadable content menu in the game, and download those packs again, that way.

But i'd do it outside the game so you can still do something else whille it downloads.

Man have times changed in the past several years.

Actually in the local arcade scene in the Philippines, during casual matches of Tekken, if a guy takes two straight rounds and the opponent hasn't won a round, it was common practice to give up one round regardless of the difference of skill level. This is probably something that is common with 3d fighters that use a 3/5 round format. 2d fighters commonly use a 2/3 rounds format so giving up one round is pretty risky even in a casual match.Im guessing the guys playing ranked in VF that are also really good usually come from an arcade background and just carried over the practice.

Bought this instead of the latest BF3 DLC. MS points well spent.
