I was excited for this on Kickstarter, then I got double excited when I saw Adult Swim picked it up. Fantastic game, great to play between bouts of other games.

Played this game for a couple hours yesterday, people who complain about the difficulty or lack of constant checkpoints are babies!

Also love the aggravated Brad noises.

Shield Brad, SHIELD!!!

Especially useful when going up the rope vs arrows or just arrows in general. It doesn't protect the whole body but it's very useful and makes some sections a lot easier. ;)

This is a very sexist representation of males. An extremely muscular man wearing just a loincloth? Who made this, a bunch of twelve year old kids? They might as well have called this game "Vulgarr the Rapist".

The alternate Valkyrie levels will blow Brad's mind :P

Reminded me of the game Barbarian, as well as the games that Brad and Vinny mentioned.

Brad's enthusiasm for it kind of got me hooked, so thanks to you Brad, I'm about to get this.

Vinny, the tomb of Qin Shi Huang (the "big one" as a friend of mine referred to him) was said to have been purpose-built with wonders, treasures, and traps consisting of crossbows primed to shoot at any who entered. While this isn't exactly a wall-face that shoots arrows, I figured it was close enough to warrant investigation.

Other than that, the tomb is unique for a number of reasons, including the emperor's fascination with immortality. Mercury was said to have been used to simulate rivers in the tomb; mercury has an ancient association with immortality and the emperor allegedly used treatments including mercury to grant him eternal life. The mercury rivers were long believed to be mythical embellishments to the grandeur of the tomb, but modern archaeology has revealed extreme levels of mercury in the surrounding soil.

Brad, you can use the shield to block the arrows on the down slope. So instead of rolling twice just face the direction of the arrows and you should be fine.

Also, use your spears liberally. If an enemy is far away don't be afraid to chuck a spear. Last tip, you can block the arrows shooting out of walls if it hits your shield. So when your climbing always have the shield facing where the arrows are coming out.

I'm sure that this game is really great, but it's ad copy nearly turned me off right away when I saw it pop up on Steam.

"Remember when games were hard?" Yes. You mean earlier today, when I played Wonderful 101, or yesterday when I played Rayman Legends? Or maybe earlier this week when I was having my ass handed to me in the final battle in The Bureau, or when I finished fighting my way through to the end of Hammerwatch with some friends?

Games that try to advertise themselves by claiming that there's no challenging games left these days just strike me as somewhat ignorant, and that really annoys me. Advertise that you're a hard game! Just stop ignoring that there's already a "second coming", so to speak, of "Nintendo Hard" games out there.

Good tips. I'd also like to add that the spear-throwing animation WON'T take you over an edge, at least in the times I used it.

There's a secret underneath the second fire flower after the arrow slope. You have to down attack to break the floor. I don't remember what's in it though...

This is one of the few games I backed on Kickstarter. Glad to see it's finally coming out. :)

I never played or heard of Rastan but to me this game looks like The Legendary Axe II.

@umbaglo: Yep that tagline almost entirely turned me off the game. I heard David Jaffe talking it up a bunch on Twitter, went to check it out, read that and immediately closed out of it. I have pretty much zero interest in your game if your biggest selling point is "Modern games are easy casual shit, let's go back to the good ol' days!!!!".

Luckily this game look pretty alright, will probably grab it when it goes on sale.

That documentary Brad's talking about around the 30 min mark seems to be of questionable authenticity, 1000 years for the mortar to dry? And they totally did know how to make windows, just simply look at some pictures from old fortresses, castles and especially churches. Kind of off-topic but whatever, this is giantbomb after all.

Brad never blocked once on purpose. He needed to use the shield more.

If the checkpoints were a little bit closer, this game would be awesome. There's nothing more soul destroying than putting so much effort into progression, only to have yourself returned back to the beginning.

The weird thing is that Rastan wasn't hard, it was mostly just unfair because it was a money-hog. If you kept pumping quarters in it, then it became trivial. It's interesting this revisionist thing we have going on now where you're supposed to one-quarter all these remakes.

Convinced that no one actually ever played Rogue when saying something is "Rogue-like"....

Oh, and credit where it's due, we joke about Brad when he screws up, but his gameplay here was on the money. This would have been excruciating if he'd been worse at it, but some of those close calls were actually really impressive. I'm looking forward to finding out if the game just makes those happen or Brad was killing it here.

It reminds me a bit of Ghouls and Ghosts with the armour progression stuff. I was waiting the whole time to see what comes after the helmet!

I would like to see a Breaking Brad with this or Spelunky. His frustration puts a smile on my face ;)
