I was bored to death with the Socom beta.  It's the first Socom I've played but I loved MAG so I'm surprised how much I didn't like it.

watch as Jeff dies a fuckton playing this kind of boring looking game


feels like socom is somewhere between the super unrealistic but fun call of duty of duty type games and the very realistic war sim games like Red Orchestra and ARMA II, and it suffers for it.

SOCOM 4 is a military shooter, Homefront was also meant to be raped, but it went on to ship 2 million units in it's first week. According to a few sites, SOCOM is looking to have an opening of around 500k, that's a pretty good amount and I'm sure it will be  profitable for Zipper. If the turd that is Confrontation can sell around a million units in it's lifetime, then I'm betting the crazy SOCOM audience will probably gobble this up as well.

The SOCOM 2 headset is still the only headset I currently own. I don't even know if it sounds good online but I don't care. Also "Green The Fuck Up" brings back memories.

Everyone thought Homefront would bomb, hell, even the stock holders did, but despite releasing against Dragon Age and Crysis 2, it still ended up selling more than both of them. Saying it'll get 'raped' based on a personal opinion of the franchise is wrong, when in all likeliness, it's probably going to outsell Mortal Kombat and it could have a chance at doing as well as Portal 2.  It's a well advertised military shooter like Homefront, despite getting mediocre reviews, it's going to do fine.

It's never a good idea to evolve a well known franchise into something that it's not. Meaning: Socom 4 seems to be following the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" bandwagon. And with that, I'd rather stick with the Battlefield franchise.

you all most likely  probably right, and that makes me sad.. I love shooters, I love modern settings and I love multiplayer..  What I don´t like it´s poorly made mediocre titles outselling better games just because their genre.

Ah, so that's why these 'shrink-wrap tuesday' things aren't called just 'quick look'... I shouldn´t have watched ´em in reverse order mayhaps.


I'm not liking the third person perspective. Something about that character-in-center-of-screen camera position feels awkward for a modern shooter-type game.

The multiplayer looked good, and the cutscenes didn't look terrible, but the campaign looks like the same modern day military action crap. I'm interested in those custom campaigns though. Maybe those are more tactical!
