A very poignant speech from Jeff about the death of old media. I really enjoyed it and his insight.

Jeff says that media and technology will have a profound impact on the future and the changing demands will have repercussions. I think Jeff is hinting to his involvement in the technological control and adaptation of the media to serve the interest of a few key groups in North America. Also, he mentions that an "apocalyptic" event could happen where the economy is destroyed and the technology has been used against the people to fight this. I think Jeff is trying to perhaps warn or at least hint to the plans of these key groups to subvert and control the population. I think Jeff is hinting to his involvement in the illuminati.

I was just thinking about the things Jeff touched on near the end of the video, the continued merging of internet media and traditional media. Giant Bomb is really a pioneer here, making scheduled video content and original programming the main editorial focus of a website. I spend more time watching this stuff than any traditional TV channel. The site/channel subscription model also seems like it will be the way forward for any niche networks that may not survive in their current state as more and more people stop paying for cable.

I still think there will be a place for the passive, always on experience that TV currently provides, even after the internet eventually dominates that platform. The market right now is probably not mature enough for something like a 24-hour Whiskey Media Network to be a worthwhile investment, but when the time comes I hope these guys are at the forefront of that milestone as well to show people how it's done right.

I was excited for just this before watching. Afterwards, I'm excited about EVERYTHING.

Agreed, I just enjoy these videos because it's almost like sitting around shooting the shit with Jeff; which is pretty damn nice. He's like my friends, but smarter, and better looking, and funnier.............. I love you Jeff.........

thing with media, i totally agree and its kind of weird because i was just talking to someone about how the movie industry doesn't get it.. shying away from physical media that is.

Recent rumors and comments about final devkits indicate the Wii U will be a bit more powerful than expected from earlier devkits, not "the same as what we have now". And reports that the next XBox will be more conservative than a "full leap" (especially if you're thinking of the jump in power from PS2 to PS3). I think I disagree with your opinion on that, Jeff. I think the next XBox will be weaker (yet still very optimized/efficient) and cheaper than a lot of gamers expect, myself.

And I'm happy about that. Who wants a $500/$600 powerhouse in this shaky economy? Unless you have a lot of disposable income (few people do), you're gonna pass on it. I think $299 - $349 is a much more reasonable proposition. I hope this is what happens.

Damn, that was an impassioned goal-of-the-movie speech towards the end there. It definitely is an exciting time to be a media consumer and having this new, increasingly-centralized system that's ripe for imaginative duders to take advantage of. I ought to find a way to be a part of it too, beyond random musings and tawdry MS Paint art.

JRPGs usually don't start strong, yeah. FFVII did. Most don't. Even Persona 4 takes a good-goddamn-while before it gets anywhere. Going back and trying to slog through old PS1 RPGs you didn't play back in the day is sort of like torture.

I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone talking. I went downstairs and this video was playing on my computer. I didn't start it, it hadn't even posted when I went to bed. My wife was asleep next to me, so she didn't do it. It was a freaky way to find out that there was a new Jar Time.

There will always be negative people. While sure MAYBE Jeff's wisdom may inspire some like you're saying, but no one will be able to eliminate negativity.

If capcom ever do anything with Megaman again I want it to be in the vein of Bayonetta, just full on crazyness. Giant robots, ridiculous weapons. Everything bright and colorful. God it would be so great.

I used to be one of those newspaper people! Though I don't fit the description Jeff gave. There were some grimy looking dudes several times my age that did though. It was a pretty laid back job, chucking papers out your window at 4am while listening to audio books. HUGE waste of gas.

It's also worth noting that online news still hasn't caught on in Japan, where the world's largest newspaper circulations still exist.

I really liked this jar time. At the end when he is talking about how this is a great time to be living was actually inspiring. It's awesome to see anyone that happy about their work.

This continues to be one of the best features on this site.

These videos are always so interesting and insightful. Definitely one of my favorite pieces of premium content.

I could listen to Jeff talk about video games for hours.
