Was fun to watch, except for your expert. He was a bit on the unenthusiastic side, not explaining what was currently happening and on several occasion answering questions simply with 'yes' or 'no' where there's a lot more interesting stuff to dig into.

I still hope to see some more DotA 2 coverage from you, was definitely worth the watch!

Agreed.

He seemed nice enough but missed out basic stuff (the default mega-kill announcer IS the quake guy, how do you miss that? Or how do you not explain Gandalf's mana regen ability? How about PL's radiance or his diffusal blade?).

Needed to be waaaay more proactive with explaining what was happening on screen. I realise that there's A LOT to keep up with, but there's lots of little stuff that has to be mentioned.

EDIT: And before anyone says things like 'I'd like to see you do better' or 'It's tough to talk under these circumstances' , he really is missing out basic stuff and also, he's not playing, his whole job is to explain things and follow the action, both of which aren't exactly on top form.

@krystal_sackful: I think you mean the one without Patrick. i.e. not this one

Fake edit: Oh god, the sound from the set bleeds into the other video!

Seriously, Brad better be leaving. This entire tragedy could have been prevented if not for that crafty Carolinian and his Lords Management games.

Yawn. Could you be more played out?

Good job, dude. I guess.

Yeah that guy was super knowledgeable, I actually really liked his presence on the show and he was actually pretty good at directing the spectator view.

I kind of wish they'd bring in experts with other games they're not familiar with on TNT.

I guess it'd be kind of hard to find experts all the time though.

I disagree, poorly explained and boring.

Seemed like a nice guy and all, but the amount of times shit wen't down somewhere and we were watching trees and gold-graphs instead...yeah, that was pretty fucking frustrating to say the least.

I'm a DoTA2 fan and this was great to watch. 1st match had a lot of back and forth which i loved, but the 2nd was a little boring because they had no chance of coming back.

I wished their expert explained more about some of the different characters to Jeff and Patrick. Learning about the characters and how different they play is half the fun when you first start.

They only played All Pick but he should've mentioned the other game modes. I'm personally a fan on Random Draft. I think it's the most balanced and sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone.

Enjoyed it as a Dota 2 player. Jeff and Patrick made me laugh despite them clearly not being into games like this, which is fine. Brad Muir's excitement was infectious and made up for the more mellow atmosphere from the "expert" commentators. Muir must be a lot of fun to party with.

I'm just 4 minutes in, but I'm not crazy about not seeing the gameplay screen so far in this version, which will clearly be the funnier version.

edit Nevermind. I skipped ahead to see what was up, and it seems to get addressed.

I agree, I could've done a better job. It was harder to click and chat at the same time then I expected and I wasn't nearly as well prepared with explaining basics (stuff which I take for granted was hard to explain or just forgotten). Brad and team were also sitting next to me so I couldn't call out ganks and items as easily (or maybe I should've just done it regardless).

Either way, glad you guys watched and participated. Definitely a learning experience for me!

@dizzyhippos: I was Luna, wouldn't call it throws. The spectator didn't show it but druid went a super-greedy double midas build which paid off. We didn't punish it fast enough and didn't have enough damage to push against their really, REALLY tanky team until it was too late. I was the only one farming well past the ten minute mark too on our team if you look at it in terms of cs. Still a fun game but can't help but regret not choosing lifestealer. I didn't want to be that guy though.

Also, for those looking for more commentary I casted the 3rd game they played after the stream in-game. If you can find match ID and want to watch that it may give some more insight. Then again, I did a much worse job than I did when casting the GB Inhouse League games :/

If I had a wish, there would be 2 Brad Muirs and one would work at GB and the other at DF, and then on nights like this there would be 2 of them on the show.

Dota badly needs a team resign function. Things like that last game where you lose very badly, very slowly is the reason I can't stand to play it. It's popular, but it would be even more popular if the unwritten rule of quitting wasn't so absurd. It was over 15 min in, but lasted like twice that.

Frankly, it's astounding that the game doesn't have a culture of resigning in the face of obvious defeat considering it is a product of War/Starcraft.

LoL has a vote surrender. The problem is people take it way too far. As soon as 1 turret falls, you'll have people voting surrender and yelling at people that don't want to surrender.

I had to explain some very basic stuff to a new player and it was harder than I thought, talking about lane control when they don't know what you do with tangos. Didn't realise you were also manning the chat.

Greg being the catalyst in the first game while using one of my favorite characters (Barathrum) was pretty sick! He couldn't have had that happen anymore perfectly (Charge the weak guy and Nether strike the second guy running away.) Also I'm kinda baffled that the Dire guys more than once do not notice that they are being targeted by Charge. Unless they made changes I didn't know since I haven't played DotA in a loooooong time, can you still see that you are being targeted by Charge of Darkness in your status bar?

wait one of the words on the screen is "so and so just pwned another person"

which is terrible. If that's the default text holy shit that is terrible. I already didn't care about this game but man that is dumb.

Also Brad's (shoemaker) strategy appears to be pacing back and forth and being useless. Is that a common strategy in this game.

A lot of the time the guy who's supposed to be telling Patrick and Jeff what's going on is just silent! Seems to be more interested in watching the game than explaining

Also: "everyone is a shoto clone" ? I think Invoker, Wisp, Chen, Pudge, Morphling and Puck just to name a few all play way different

Brad Shoemaker was playing a support character who doesn't need a lot of gold/XP to be a valuable member of his team. He was laning with Brad Muir playing Sven, who wants to get lots of gold and XP to become a super-killy monster. So, in this particular situation it made the most sense for Brad to just add lane presence and be a supporter so that Sven could farm up.

I strongly recommend that anyone who finds DOTA 2 intimidating or thinks RTS controls are unsuitable for the game try Smite. It has 3rd person camera and more traditional MMO/RPG controls and has some smart auto level/item systems to get you started.

I'm new to it myself but it seems pretty great. It's from the guys that made Tribes Ascend.

Yeah 60FPS! Man, it's so smoove.

Wish I could say the same for the Gameplay feed. I wonder why a few videos come out this way? Is it really planned, or does it just happen by accident?
