Unfinished: Krautscape 04/17/2014

I miss the N64 Rush games. Wasn't there a sequel to 2049 on the Gamecube?

This seems to be primed for a German release.

It's funny how the tutorial states, "You're ready to play Krautscape" after leaving so many things unexplained. Cool concept, cool name, but I don't know if this looks like much fun to play really.

This reminded me a lot more of the amazing Nitronic Rush(and its upcoming spiritual sequel,Distance) than any SF Rush game to be honest,at least at first.

This game looks fantastic! The transitions from driving to flying look so satisfying.

This looks crazy! Could see it being more fun with more players on the track leading to insanity in the layout and flying around.

Yeah, I was kinda expecting something like that. Some Faust or Neu style stuff would fit pretty well with the aesthetics here, I think.

At Pax I told Vinny he should Play this for UPF but only in first person view!

Is it just me, or do the walls seem to really subtract from the pacing of the rest of the game? Being forced to a dead stop isn't much fun in racing games in general, and it's especially bad here. I think if they changed the walls to something... with less impact like a slow down effect or something similar it would make the game feel better.

@aimlessaj: agreed. i was kinda stoked about this game till that started happening.

The problem is that they just kept running into them, all those blocks do is force you to make a turn piece instead of a straight piece.

I hope this turns into more of a game.

music seems pretty nice, also those cars look like concordes

This is one of those I need to play because it looks interesting but watching it looks very uninteresting. I started getting sleepy. There's a nice look to it but there's also a plain aesthetic about it that makes the driving seem a not as engaging. But again, it's one of those I think I need to play.

Needs more sound (and krautrock/no wave), more power ups, more guidance, more little details, BUT. super cool concept, hope they add some more ambition to it going forward and work on their descriptive texts.

This is really giving me a Proun kind of vibe.

Every time I passed by the PAX East booth for this game, I just thought, "That art style is really nice, but boy does it look kinda boring."

My reasoning was probably largely affected by the fact that it was not too far from the demo for Distance, which looks like its faster and flashier cousin.

Interesting aesthetic.

Maybe I'm not understanding what is going on but it seems to me the one lagging behind is mostly penalized instead of given tools to catch up. If that's the case, the designers should do something about that.

Rush 2049, you say? You have my undivided attention.

....I like split screen. I think it's more that developers don't like split screen anymore.

That faint beeping at the start of the race made me think the battery in my fire detector needed replacing.

With this look and engine the developers should of made a 3D shooter.

Well, this is one hell of a strange game. Very creative indeed.

Yay it's that game that I told Drew to check out on the floor of PAX East and he sounded like he didn't know about it at the time and then he apparently did go check it out.

This game is promising. That art design looks beautiful but I don't know exactly why.

THE GAME MODE NAME WAS SNAKE! IT'S A MOVING SNAKE! LOOK AT THE MINIMAP! Hnnng.

I was blazed when I watched this and man did the look of it catch me off guard. I regret nothing though.

When I hear the word Krautscape I think of a landscape covered in sauerkraut.

The menu sounds are like the low battery beep on a smoke detector, at least coming out of my netbook. I didn't realize that at first, but my laziness prevented me from going on a huge search before I figured it out. All is well.

Neat idea, but I saw Distance first, so that's where my money's going.

Looks really cool and is a really interesting concept but at this point it just doesn't look very fun. Definitely a wait and see type of situation.

I could see this game being chaotically enjoyable with four people driving and flying around at once.
