So uh... this game looks not great, graphically, to me? And there is some weird intense motion blur on character movements.

Damn a 2-parter? They played this longer than I thought.

I now get it @jeff - east coast gets the balding dudes (@austin_walker is a front), west coast is where the lush here is...I'm bald, and therefore I go Beast!

Really looking forward to this game, but if this split is for some coverage restrictions, that's silly and weird.

@hassun: It's two parts because they were only allowed to put up 20 minutes of gameplay footage in a video, so they had to make two videos to get 40 minutes of gameplay :p

Straight away, it's way more colorful than I expected.

Still somehow looks sort of flat and drab.

Edit: Though parts look really cool and unique. I am skeptical but curious.

That stutter in the sound track makes me panic that my hard drive is dying

Pretty sure the blurring around the character's silhouettes when they move is a ghosting artifact from the temporal anti-aliasing.

I mean, Brad is my boy, but... didn't he literally describe the combat in Mass Effect 2 & 3 when he was talking about 3rd person cover shooters with moba/mmo abilities? Don't get me wrong, the time effects look nice in this. Reminds me of tossing out some fancier forms of biotic powers.

This looks and sounds so, so good.

Also the blurring they keep mentioning is almost certainly the dynamic resolution stuff they use to get games running on the Xbox one, halo had it but only on the environment, not the characters.

I really miss the days when games had clear boundaries between "playing" and "not playing." If characters were walking and talking it was a cutscene, and then the cutscene stopped and you got to play, with no restrictions on your abilities. This game (and many others in recent years) constantly puts you in weird in-between states with no warning. Here are characters walking and talking, but you have to hold forward to make your guy move forward slowly, and sometimes hold a button to do a thing. Now here's your dude talking to some chick, but you have no control at all. Now you can use your gun, shoot those guys! Ok now go through that door and shoot some more guys. Just kidding, there was a cutscene behind that door, now you can't do anything again. Ok now we're walking and talking again and you can't shoot your gun even though you have one. Oh there's some guys, now you can shoot again!

I'd rather not play the game at all than go through that nonsense.

Man, I wanted to like this game just because of Remedy, but this looks generic and boring af. Auto-cover, jittery yet stiff shooting animations, boring fake-Mass-Effect powers... I will wait for Alan Wake 2

Haha, well Mass Effect was a few years ago so that memory must be fading. But man, now you got me wanting to make people fly off into the void using biotic powers. So satisfying to lift and throw enemies into space.

The herky jerky animation when Drew stops/turns, combined with the camera being maybe a tooch too close to Jack's shoulder, is making me nauseous.

Wasn't Timeshift a game that also let you freeze time and disarm enemies?

the gunplay looks reeeeal real bad. bullet sponge enemies, with wide spray guns, and NO auto-aim?! the heeeell??

Yes and it was pretty fun.

@theunholyghost: Singularity was another one of those FPS + time powers. And the F.E.A.R. games.

Max Payne (3) actually had an achievement for playing it without aim assist and a lot of people, even on console, considered that the go-to way of playing that game.

EDIT: I played the entirety of Max Payne 3 on 360 with completely no aim assist. It takes some getting used to but there is some satisfaction in it - the time slowdown definitely helps.

Also someone named "Jack" in real life, I take offense to Drews comment about the names being generic!

This looks like The Division with time powers to me.

So it's kinda like you're a Warframe with some CC abilities, cept you're a boring-looking dude with bad aim and there's no Lotus to tell you to stay away from fire.

And don't forget, Brad played Mass Effect as a soldier.

@rahr012: I'm convinced that Drew is just a robot that Jeff built in his garage out of old commodore 64s to see if he could teach it to play games and manage the control room for quick looks. One out of two ain't bad I guess

Preordered yesterday and am hoping for great things. I barely play my X1 anymore since I play all cross platform games on PS4.
