Recent problems with live videos getting archived has been bumming me out. I often watch TNT via the Twitch archive long before the Giant Bomb archive goes online. I wish we could get access to the Twitch archive for the Giant Bomb Premium account.

I posted this in the live chat but here's a more viewable place for it I guess, It's a google map with people willing to demo their Oculus Rifts to people. So if you want to try out a Rift see if there's any markers close by to you and contact them, most owners should be pretty stoked to demo their Rift for you:

The file-path (http://v.giantbomb.com/2013/05/25/...) has the wrong date. Change "25" to "24" and it works.

Haven't watched this yet, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Jeff does with Occulus Rift, it should be HUGELY entertaining, however it got me thinking...

Is anyone else not super hyped about Occulus Rift? Am I crazy? I mean, the tech is ridiculously cool, it's everything we'd dreamed the future would be when thinking about the craziness of VR and the like...but I don't know that I'm super interested in moving my head around to control a view in game. Obviously I haven't experienced it for myself, so I don't know how I would actually feel about it strapped to my head, but I almost feel like it would be more immersion breaking for me.

On another note, wouldn't playing something on Occulus rift with those screens so close to your eyes be basically murder on them? I think I've already damaged mine a bunch with my tablet and phone use >.<

Sorry to be a Debby Downer, like I said, the thing itself is super cool, I'm just not sure if its actual application is worthwhile, I guess it'll vary from game to game and probably be best for experiences that are developed specifically for it rather than "hey it also has Rift support if you want!".

Here's a fix you guys:

Click on download and choose a file to watch (lo,mid,high). The webpage you'll come to will say file not found.

The URL should be: http://v.giantbomb.com/2013/05/25

Ensure you change this to 24.

I am super excited for the Rift. From what I've heard, the level of immersion is insane. I've heard people describe how they feel vertigo when they stand over a ledge in a game. Also, that they get a real sense of their own scale and the size and distance of everything else around them, e.g. when they stand in front of a building, it actually feels as if they're standing in front of a building. That's just nuts. I'm not particularly interested in using the Rift as a means of improving gameplay, but rather, getting that feeling of immersion.

Also, I want to go to space, damn it. The Rift is the closest I'll ever be to getting that experience.
