Loaded with potential... what happened to all of it? 0

Positive: + excellent graphics + some of the POW moves are really cool + the Sonic universe is portrayed well +Negative: - dreadful camera – battle system could use some help – poor sound effects – annoying enemies – Big the Cat! -Sonic is in desperate need of a great game. Sure the Sonic Rush series has been doing well, but he still needs some kind of huge success to get him back on his feet. In an attempt to bring about that desirable future, BioWare has brought Sonic into the wonderful world ...

Very playable, and Nothing to Laugh At 0

Since the transition from 2D to 3D, Sonic the Hedgehog was just not the same. After starting off on the wrong foot in Sonic 360, several "good, not great games" came after, and people are now talking about Sonic being on life support. Therefore, BioWare was now in charge of making the first Sonic RPG, and the end result is Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Although the game has some rough edges, the game is very playable, and it is a solid startup for other Sonic RPGs in the future. This g...

Sonic Chronicles falls flat in every way possible. 0

Man, I don't even know where to begin with this game.  I wasn't a huge fan of Sonic games growing up.  I had a lot of fun with Sonic, but that was the jest of it.  I don't quite get the Sonic universe or any of the wacky characters that's attached to Sonic nowadays.  I can go as far back as Knuckles, but everything is over my head. I'm also not a huge fan of Bioware either.  I like some of their games, but they have design flaws, and are buggy as hell.  I can enjoy aspects of Bioware games, but...

Not The Best, Not The Worst 0

For a storied company like BioWare you might expect a little better, but from a francise like the Sonic one we got something much better than their usual.  There are elements in this game that actually manage to hook the player. Granted story and depth/difficulty  aren't them. But the way BioWare constructed this RPG is comendable. The battle interface is really entertaining (but does border frustrating at times). The fact that you have to perform actions (tapping dots, following lines, tapping ...

Sonic's 1st RPG is a hit 0

Back in the 1996, the swan song for the SuperNES was Super Mario RPG: The legend of the Seven Coins. It was made by RPG master, Hirnobu Sakaguchi. Fast forward 12 years, and Mario’s ex-Rival, Sonic the Hedgehog, makes his RPG day bue on the D.S in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Create by Biowares new Hand-held division; can Sonic’s first RPG be a hit? Let’s find out. The story starts with Sonic and friends defeating Dr.Eggman. When running around, Sonic gets a call from Tails saying the...

Bioware's latest RPG proves that a good Sonic game is possible. 0

Sonic Chronicles has had a significant amount of hype behind it for a DS title, and for good reason.  Fans have long clamored for an RPG starring their favorite hedgehog that could rival Super Mario RPG.  Like Nintendo did with Super Mario RPG, Sega called on another company to develop the title.  The developer, Bioware, did an admirable with the ailing Sonic franchise.  Bioware is known for producing RPGs with a multitude of character customization options and deep combat systems.  They also te...

One Word Review: Auspice 0

It even says it right there, the series' first RPG. Let's all be honest with each other, the Sonic franchise has been stagnant over the last twenty years or so. Even those of us who grew up Nintendo kids had some respect for Sonic during his Genesis onto the scene, but once Sonic was brought into the 3D world he was never rebounded. The sense of speed has never been the same and, for those of us who are casual fans, the tireless campaigning on Sega's part to convince us that the Sonic universe i...

Sonic Chronicles, Sonic's first step into RPG land 0

Hardy any red blooded Sonic fan could say that they weren't at all excited for this game, Sonic with a decent developer at the helm once more is a hard thing to pass up. Sonic Chronicles ultimately turns out to be a worthwhile game, with some confusingly bad presentation choices that let it down a little and make it somewhat akin to driving down a very senic road that's riddled with pot holes.    One of the first things you'll notice about Sonic Chronicles is that it is almost entirely contro...
