I just want Jazzpunk and maybe Rust or The Forest

Steam Summer Sale 2014 Master Thread - Now Dead
@mb: Just a heads-up: the opening paragraph of your OP implies this isn't happening until next month; you (perhaps mistakenly?) say July instead of June. It appears it's happening tomorrow?
Anyway, I may buy some things...
@jjweatherman: Wow good catch, thanks! I did mean June. I edited it and edited the title of the thread. 15 hours to go, get your virtual wallets ready!
These are the only games I'm allowing myself to pick up this year. Looking to budget.
- Metal Gear Rising
- X-com Enemy Within
- Saints Row 4
- Killer is Dead
- Broken Age
I just want cheap telltale seasons. That's it. (speaking of Walking Dead S2 and finally Wolf Among Us)
Might grab KR0 if that's cheap, too, though.
Must resist Colonial Marines for 75% off...I know I shouldn't, but guys...it's $5.
Maybe I just like shitty games, but I really enjoyed Colonial Marines.
Why is this expected tomorrow?
The last two years it didn't start until well into July, this will be the earliest it's ever started by weeks.
@kidavenger: They already have the cards up for sale on the market and the week long deals only had 7 games this week and expire tomorrow when the store refresh instead of Friday as usual.

That's downright logical; bring it on Steam.
GABOR.
I'm remembering a couple of years ago when I literally could not find 10 games to put on my wishlist. This was right when they first introduced profile rewards during sales. Now I think I'm up to over 40.
The last couple of sale have been a bit of a wash for me. I just haven't really had any games I wanted to buy after having already bought everything in years past, but it's getting back to the point where there's lot of stuff I want to buy. I have 19 games on my wish list at the moment and I know there's several more I'd like to pick up too.
So keen.
I am so glad I broke my Steam addiction. Having over 200+ games and not playing a 1/4th of them is really stupid. And I felt stupid every single time I acknowledged it. Hooray GoG & enjoying a game at a time!
I get that the userbase has grown probably too big to do it again, but I sure do miss the days when they gave out tickets and rewards each day for games that were on sale.
To be fair, I've been pretty good at trying to play the games I bought during previous sales. Having gone through a few sales now, the availability of games has, in one way, made me not put up with as much things as I probably otherwise would have. As in, I'll load up a game and if I do not enjoy a certain aspect of it, I'll just move on to the next, maybe not giving each game the chance/time it needs/deserves.
Whereas back before I participated in steam sales, I would buy a game and then make sure I played it until I saw the credits and sometimes multiple times (unless I really, really didn't enjoy playing it) but now It's like well, this particular game mechanic feels really dumb and I have other things to play, so I'll just boot up something else instead.
You can actually burn through quite a few games when your standards become ridiculously high due to the availability of cheap games. Basically you start to value your time and the way you spend that time more than the price itself.
Hooray GoG & enjoying a game at a time!
If by "enjoying a game at a time" you mean buying the D&D pack and jumping between 3 50+ hour long games then I'm totally enjoying one game at a time.
Oh damn it to hell, Amazon has an all day sale on my dog's favorite brand of treats on the same damn day as the Steam sale's start? This is unfair!
@dudeglove: @super2j: I fucking love the Internet, guys.
Edit: @truthtellah That's pretty great too.
I would love to see South Park Stick of Truth get marked down at least a little bit. That is honestly one of the few games that I have been needing to get.
It was 26 eurobones on a Humble Store sale and just recently 29 eurobones on a Greenmangaming sale. So chances are good.
I think I will have to restrict myself from buying games this year. Which means I can only buy the top ten games on my wishlist, and with a minimum of 75% off... I have also set a limit on how low my "beaten games percentage" on Backloggery can be, which is 70%. It is currently 72.4%. Putting my games on Backloggery really helped me in not buying that many games on the sale.
The one game I really want this year though is South Park: The Stick of Truth, which I see is on a lot of peoples lists.
I have 23 games on my wishlist and probably a third of those are new enough that they either will not be on sale or they will but not to an extent that will make me buy them which is sort of a relief.
At the same time, these sales remind me of that old military saying about how no plan ever survives first contact with the enemy.
Just got a cheque from HMRC for £1,730. Got the final episode of Game of Thrones season 4 to watch. Pretty good evening, all told.

This could be dangerous. Very dangerous.
@dudeglove: oh my god that was amazing.
@kidavenger: I imagine it's earlier because there was no big spring sale this year.
This could be dangerous. Very dangerous.
Do a steam sale quick look.
Y'know, funny thing.
I'VE ACTUALLY BEEN THINKING ABOUT DOING THAT FUCKING LOL.
This could be dangerous. Very dangerous.
A forum member of mine recently received a check for L1730 just by posting on an internet forum a few hours a week. Now he's bought a brand new Dark Souls 2 and a Occulus Rift DK2. I never knew it could be so easy! Learn more at giantbomb.ru!
You've been around a bit, could a Steam Sale possibly dent that chunk of cash? The past few Steam sales, I put $100 US in my wallet and end up buying games for my friends because I have all the games. ALL THE GAMES!

The perverse part of me is vaguely (only very vaguely!) curious as to how other people use Steam.
Perverse is good enough for me. I'm going to film a 1080p60 Quick Look Solo of the start of today's Steam Sale.

1) Hah! [thatsgoodthatsdamngood.gif]
2) If I remember rightly, I have something like 50 or 60 games on my Steam wishlist right now. There will also be all of the great counter sales from the other Digital Storefronts to consider as well!
Looking at Starbound and Transistor to go on sale. I know Transistor just came out, but if it goes on sale for like 33%, I'll definitely go for it. After that I'm not really sure.
Alright. About 3 hours before the sale and I think I've finalized my list. In no particular order:
Title | Spent | Savings |
---|---|---|
Fallout 3: GOTY | $5.00 | $15.00 |
Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition | $7.00 | $13.00 |
Final Fantasy 8 | $4.00 | $8.00 |
FTL: AE | $3.00 | $7.00 |
Saints Row IV | $10.00 | $30.00 |
The Forest | N/A | N/A |
The Yawhg | $0.00 (gift) | $10.00 |
Hack 'n' Slash | N/A | N/A |
XCOM: Enemy Within | $10.00 | $20.00 |
Transistor | N/A | N/A |
Child of Light | N/A | N/A |
Total | $39.00 | $103.00 |
Hopefully this sale goes well and I don't make too many impulse purchases...
Impulse | Cost |
---|---|
Monaco | $1.50 |
@fattony12000: Why do you quote your own tweets?
*AQUIRED: Assassin's Creed IV is number one on my list.
*GIFTED TO SAID FRIEND: I'd like to get Nidhogg if my buddy doesn't buy it first (but I'm betting he will).
*AQUIRED: Also hoping to get a second copy of Don't Starve for my wife so we can play co-op when it gets added.
And maybe Saint's Row IV.
Picked up Trine 2 for 1.99 :) Now everyone in the world finally owns it!
I'm scared. Last year was the first time I had a PC to buy Steam games for and it hurt me in the end. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks time and I do need spending money. I'll limit myself to $200 and the games on my wishlist.
