This is my favorite game ever... Anyone else think that? Have it in their top five? Top ten?
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Game » consists of 31 releases. Released Mar 20, 2006
Travel the continent of Tamriel, defend the land against Oblivion's Daedra hordes, and help fill the empty throne of Cyrodiil in the fourth installment of the Elder Scrolls series.
Who else agrees?
I really liked this game, but I personally didn't think it was as "big" as Morrowind. The world was big in size, but it really just felt like the same thing everywhere. I have to say that the Dark Brotherhood story branch was fantastic and having a game like Oblivion running on a console was pretty nice (never played Morrowind on the Xbox, don't know how it ran).
If there were more quests like the Dark Brotherhood ones, then maybe it'd be in my top 10, but half of the quests just ended up being dull and as Kush said the world just didn't feel as big as Oblivion. The level scaling also put the game down a lot, in Morrowind I'd have fun just wondering out into the wilderness and getting beaten up by a huge skeleton in a cave, but in Oblivion I knew if I found something it'd only be as strong as me and I could kill it.
It is definitely in my all-time top ten...until the next Elder Scrolls game (providing it doesn't suck).
Top 10 for sure, one of the best rpg's i have ever played, this i put more time into this game than any other 360 game i have
This is my favorite RPG of all time due to the fact that this game NEVER ENDS!!!! You can put 100s of hours into this game and still have more to do.... just create a new character race, subtype, ect.... and play though it again. Definitely an epic RPG game that will not be surpassed in my mind.... atleast until Bethesda releases TES V.
Can you imagine if Elder Scrolls V was Tamriel in its entirety....
Although I happen to think it will be set in Sommerset Isle.
It has made my CrackHouse list of addictive games that have stolen portions of my life.
Oh and I have to say one of my top 5 games ever played, I think it's 3rd probably, behind Metal Gear Solid 4 and Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
I wouldn't say it's in fav but it's in my top 10, this game sucked me in in a way that no other game has done for a very long time, I played it pretty much every day for around three quarters of the year. It was brilliant, but once you get to into it you start to see it's flaws and short comings and they just become more and more obvious and joy killing with time, to the point now were starting a new character in that game would probably drive me insane lol
Best RPG Ever!! :) The gameplay is immersive and the environments are breathtaking. And the levelling mechanism is also one of the best ones I've seen. I don't dislike the in-your-face-whack-creeps-to-gain-xp stuff of other RPG's; but the subtle training of your skills in oblivion is too damn addictive. No. 2 in my list overall.
Probably Top 5, I spent around 300 hours in Oblivion; both PC and Xbox 360. Finished it 2 times on PC, once on X360. It was so immersive, but I tried to get back into it recently and I just countly; it felt bland. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to enjoy it anymore.
i did not check it out when it was released and only rented it a few months back , and did not expect much. but i was blown away. being that im 28 i dont really get addicted to many games any more but Oblivion hooked me in and i found myself playing into the early hours of the morning
