    Claude's Quick Review 2

It has a plausible story and characters that have meat, focus and frailty. There are moments that you have to experience. And before the end, challenges to overcome. Worth every penny. Full price.A game worth playing. I turned the dial down to easy. It was worth it for the story alone. I could never imagine loving a character more than Ellie. I was Joel. I am Joel. I had a past that I dared not talk about. I did bad things. I survived. Some died....

The Last of Us is an amazing achievement and one that shows that Naughty Dog has the ability to adapt with aplomb. 3

(Note: I only played through the single-player so the review is solely focused on that.)Not too many games come with higher expectations nowadays. Naughty Dogs’ flagship PS3 series Uncharted has garnered critical and commercial praise across the board. With that series mainly focusing on Indiana Jones-like thrills, one would not be totally wrong in thinking that The Last of Us was just Uncharted with zombies. Luckily for us, it’s far more than that. The Last of Us brings true terror and a weigh...

The Last of Us: Left Behind Review 0

I think it is easy to say that The Last of Us was the best game of the year. After winning so many awards for the game, Naughty Dog is in a streak again. It must have been difficult to match what we come to expect for the first ever story DLC for Naughty Dog. Story has always been the bread and butter for Naughty Dog and this time they have proven why they are some of the best developers around. The Last of Us: Left Behind is the culmination of Naughty Dog’s work for The Last of Us. Left B...

The highlight of The Last Of Us is the gritty narrative and is aided by a focus on improvisation in combat 1

After being such a big fan of Naughty Dog's latest work it’s surprising that it took me four years to finally visit the post apocalyptic wasteland full of mushroom zombies. Looking back 2013 me was all about nonstop action instead of trying to scavenge my way through many horrible situations. A lot like the first scene of the game where we get introduced to our main protagonist Joel. Who quickly goes from trying to save his daughter Sarah to mourning her death. From here we go 20 years in...

The Last of Us Review: The World Ends with a Click 0

Naughty Dog have a powerful track record in the PS3 with the Uncharted series, but The Last of Us is a brand new IP with a very different tone and world than the swash-buckling adventures of Nathan Drake. The zombie apocalypse setting is a very familiar one by now thanks to a raft of games and other media which have anchored themselves in it, but with The Last of Us, Naughty Dog have managed to put a fresh spin on it, added their own style and deft hand to the mix and created an experience that...

Left Behind Didn't Leave Any Quality Behind 0

The additional content to The Last of Us is to fill in on a part of Ellie’s story that wasn’t shown in the main game. She is, still, the star of the show with a performance as incredible as during the full story. At first, I was a bit off on Riley, I thought they were trying too hard to make her be the way she was written. But in the second half of the game, I started to enjoy her more when her interactions with Ellie started to have more meaning. That’s one thing that I really ...

A wonderful but flawed piece of storytelling. 0

I beat The Last of Us in one sitting my first time through. I don't recommend it. It's a dark, grueling experience, but I needed to see it through. Shortly after, I started it again, this time on Survivor difficulty. I just barely made it out of the sewers with almost zero health and zero supplies. I needed to take a break. I never picked it back up. Until Left Behind. And I'm so glad I did.I wouldn't have thought I would care about Ellie's backstory, about Riley, until I started playing. I had ...

    A beautiful mess 0

I liked it, but at the same time, it was extremely disappointing.Great characters, visually superb, probably the best acting in a video game to date, but the gameplay just wasn't fun, in fact it was just one extremely frustrating corridor after another and it made the game feel padded for length when it didn't need to be, this game was way too long. The ending was stupid, the last hour of the game pretty much ruined the story which wasn't that great to begin with....

    Naughty Dog's Finest 0

The Last of Us takes the post-apocalyptic setting and takes to new highs. It involves you with an absolutely amazing plot that should be experienced by every video games fan out there. The game starts you with a banger of an intro, one of the best prologues in gaming history. Making you get involved without wasting any time. At first I was weirded out by the fast forward, but ended up being a plus overall. The traditional survival-horror atmosphere is here, you won’t have that much ammo to...

A fantastic little origin story that is vital for fans of The Last of Us. 0

Don't let the image fool you; there's a healthy amount of humour to go alongside the game's suitably grim coatingMany months have passed since the release of The Last of Us, which still stands as my favourite game of 2013, and one of my favourite games across the whole previous generation. Left Behind, the first and sadly last piece of single-player DLC, is also some of the best DLC I have played in recent memory.Focusing on the ever lovable Ellie, Left Behind gives you two separate stories, eac...

PS3 Saves The Best For "The Last Of Us" 0

Naughty Dog has done another great game with this survival post apocalyptic world that has neither zombies or aliens as the main enemies but other humans trying to survive this new harsh reality. The game feels like a true survival story game play where almost everything has to be ration carefully from food to first aid. Also the game isn't only a third person shooter, that's not the point but more on using your environment and the tools and equipment to help you along your mission. The characters...

The Last of Us Review. 1

The Last of Us paints a grim, depressing picture of a future where a fungal infection as run riot on the populace of the world. Highlighting humanities need to survive at any cost in a way so very few games have attempted to, let alone achieved. Let's get one thing straight, this isn't simply Uncharted with zombies, it's a new IP from a developer looking to challenge their own rules and methods of game making. The Last of Us almost brings the PS3 to it's knees, but with stunning results.Set twent...

Terrific atmosphere in an overall boring, and somewhat buggy, game 1

On the exterior, The Last of Us couldn't be more different from Naughty Dog's other successful franchise, Uncharted. Unfortunately, their differences are only skin deep. While the emphasis on The Last of Us is a stealth-based fighting approach, it doesn't have the sound mechanics that other franchises such as Hitman, Splinter Cell, and Metal Gear Solid have had the time to perfect. Instead, Naughty Dog have simply littered the game world with chest-high cover, arranged in highly noticeable paths...

Amazing story with average gameplay. 0

You might have heard that The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video games. You might have laughed at that poor analogy that was surely dreamt up as a result of some fever dream induced by the crushing weight of meeting a deadline with a 20 hour single player campaign on your hands. The fact of the matter is that Last of Us IS a really great game. The difference we have to observe is that while it does leaps and bounds for narrative and storytelling, the gameplay.. not so much.Considering that ...

Great story, atmosphere, and visuals marred by some bad gameplay 0

I don’t think that Naughty Dog has put out a good game since Jak 3. Jak X was all right, if unfair. The Uncharted games are all right at best. They’re chock full of bullet sponge enemies that don’t have much in the way of reaction to being shot, weak-sounding and feeling guns, supernatural segments toward the end that are somehow way worse than everything that has come before, and “platforming” that consists of “shimmy along this ledge in the exact pattern we’ve laid out”.With that noted, The La...

Iffy shooting and frustrating moments don't ruin a game with some of the best characters to date 0

Story in video games is quite often terrible. It is a medium littered with trope-laden characters, plots more focused on pushing gameplay forward then making sense, and unfulfilling endings meant to drive fan fervor for a multitude of sequels and spin-offs. Few games have stories worth paying attention to; even fewer have stories that are as memorable as a great book or movie. Naughty Dog has managed to deliver a few of these memorable stories in their Uncharted series, creating an Indiana Jones...

Not the Citizen Kane of games, but still a great game 0

Amid all the perfect scores, I can't help but feel like the gaming industry, as well as the gamers, have failed themselves by calling this such a success. When we give something a perfect score, what is that really saying? It really depends on your point of view. Does it mean it's something that couldn't possibly be improved upon? Or does it mean it was perfect enough? Or is it just a gut feeling? Whatever your reasons, I know I certainly don't want to just rest in the wading pool calling The L...

An unsettling, realistic look into an post-Apocalyptic future 0

Running off the massive critical and financial success of the Uncharted series, it seems Naughty Dog were free to do anything they wanted. Looking back on Naughty Dog's history, they always stuck with what they did best, warmhearted, fun-to-play platformers anyone could enjoy. They did that from Crash bandicoot on the PSX, all the way to Uncharted 3 on the PS3. Looking at this trend, it was maybe a little strange, if not awkward, to play something as grim as The Last of Us.This is Naughty Dog's ...

Arguably the PS3's best exclusive game. 0

Gripping. That's a good one-word description for Naughty Dog's masterpiece. A cross between Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" and Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead", Sony's "The Last of Us" is one of those classic video games that ranks up with the great fictional works. Like a great TV show or movie, it is an emotional cinematic experience. Kudos to the great writing and directing of Neil Druckman and Bruce Straley and the acting of Troy Baker (Joel), Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and company. I'm sure if...

No matter the graphics , storyline or either the voice actor of this game , you can't compare it to others game like Bioshock Infinate . This game really deserve to be Game Of The Year . Although Bioshock GTA 5 also did a really good job , I really don't have any feel after playing those 2 games , maybe bioshock got a little . “Oh, shit...” A sentiment echoed by Joel. The generator roars to life, and so do the infected. Frantic screams, growls, rushing footsteps and sinister clicks ring out through this underground tunnel. “Oh shit!” Panic mode: engaged. Run. Run fast. Get out. Forget the ammo, the supplies, anything other than running. Survive. This is the world of The Last of Us. A desperate, cloying, violent, terrifying place. The Last of Us In-Depth Review 1

The Last of Us is a game that could have been another Uncharted, Naughty Dog could have pumped out a similar game to their previous best, though this time with zombies. However, even with so many easy ways out, The Last of Us never allows itself to stoop so low...You play as Joel, 20 years after the fungal outbreak that has destroyed America, and brought with it the rejuvenation of plant life. He is entrusted (for various reasons that will not be spoiled) with Ellie, his task is to take her to a...

To be honest, I wasn't even going to buy The Last of Us. I wasn't as hyped as most people were and decided to just borrow it from a friend at some stage. Today, I'm glad I didn't stick to that plan. From story to gameplay to immersion, The Last of Us is a truly amazing game that should be played by everyone who owns a PS3. The Last of Us is set several years after the outbreak of a fungal infection that drives the host mad. Basically, it's an interesting twist on the usual zombie apocalypse scen...

Breathless Apocalyptic Performance |The Last Of Us Review 0

Have you heard of The Last of Us? I'd say you have by now. It's been a game on everybody's radar since Naughty Dog first announced it back in 2011 with an unnoticed tease in a newspaper in one of the first levels in Uncharted 3: Drake Deception. The game has taken people by surprise. Not because of it being a survival post-apocalyptic type game, but mainly because it is something interesting and new to come out of the studio that has brought such blockbuster titles, such as Uncharted, Jak &...

Naughty Dog has taken what it’s learnt from Uncharted and created storytelling excellence, great combat and tension. 0

After the reveal of The Last of Us and hearing that the extremely talented people at Naughty Dog were behind this new IP, I was never going to be concerned if this was going to be a decent game. Just look at the studio’s history and you can see that quality is something they have refined, from Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter to their latest Indiana Jones-esque trilogy of the Uncharted franchise. All are great in their own way. My concern was if Naughty Dog could pull off a serious, down-to-earth...

If I had to say one thing about The Last of Us I would say it's a morose and yet brilliant narrative with equally likeable and contemptible characters, with a beautifully realized world all messily bundled in a terrible game. The Last of Us features some very well realized environments, this screenshot is the least impressive of which but also the least inoffensive as far as spoiling environments go.Of course to say The Last of Us is a terrible game is perhaps reaching. This is one of, if not my favorite game I ever played. The story is very good, the character development even better. You are torn between making the right and the wrong choice at the end. But in just some aspects. Naughty dog breaks the boundaries of how people would act in a zombie apocalype. This is a must-play game for me....

So I have not yet finished the game, in fact I have no idea how far I have left to go. You really don't get any sense of that AT ALL. I DO know is that I'm more afraid of sinister clicking than ever before. Seriously though, The Last of Us is an extremely story based and very engrossing game to play. This is my first experience of an R rated game. (Being from Australia it's kind of a big deal) Anywho, the story is emotional and quite hard hitting. The Best of PS3 0

PlayStation and Xbox have always been able to swing their crowds based on the bias of the game series they have exclusive ownership to. Halo has Xbox and gears f War and then PS3 has Metal Gear, Uncharted and other stuff like that. To be honest I don't particularly care about those games much at all. As long as I can play my Fallout and Batman I am happy. Anyway, The Last of Us definitely gives any PS3 owner bragging rights over their Xbox brothers, sisters or cousins, or maybe just friends. Released on : July 29th 2014Platform : Playstation 4 Over a year ago, The Last of Us forever changed storytelling in video games with its emotional tale about two individuals who are trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Not only did the game impact the players emotionally, but it also had a groundbreaking approach with its way of telling the story that put into question this very aspect in the medium in general. Welcome Back to Paradise? 1

Single player DLC for story based games is a tricky one. The best stories are usually self contained and any attempt to try to add to that later always seem below par or rather pointless. Add to the fact that it comes eight months after the game’s release and doesn’t involve the main protagonist you would think this would be a recipe for disaster. Well Naughty Dog doesn’t care. With Left Behind, they have just delivered the best DLC since Rockstar’s releases for Grand The...
