and I've got to say the game is pretty awesome, some of the cut scenes and dialogue is a bit off but other then that is a very well polished game and the combat is really really fun^^

The Witcher

The Witcher is an Action Role Playing Game developed by CD Projekt RED and is based on the book "The Last Wish" by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. An Enhanced Edition was released in September, 2008. A director's cut version was released for North America on July 31, 2009.
Just bought the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher on Steam^^
" Definitely one of my fav modern era RPGs. Great, somewhat twisted, story and a setting that is completely original. "Agree completely Dave. I have yet to ever finish it to completion, but I played a ton of it a while back, and its a very awesome game. The best CRPG in a loong ass time.
I bought Witcher Enhanced on disk a while ago. It's hard for me to sum up what I think of it. I'm really impressed with the production values, cutscenes are well done and consistent, environments are good enough. I don't really dig the combat, and I've yet to really hit that point where I'm 'in the groove' with the game yet.
Just for a vague description of where I am, I'm past that first night at the inn with the ghost wolves or whatever. Now I've explored a bit of town, and I just wish I felt like I could explore more, but I get the feeling the game wants me to hang around town and talk to every person and I don't really want to.
" @Diamond: There are only... five people you have to talk to. Actually, technically two, but there are a few side quests you should do. "Well the entire game experience to this point has been mostly talking to NPCs. Are you saying I can mostly ignore them from now on?
I haven't gone back and played the re-release version, but the original release was phenomenal and the amount of effort they've put into supporting it post-release has been great. Impressive stuff considering it was a debut for the developers. It was a brave decision to make a PC exclusive RPG of this scope when they did and I'm glad that it paid off for them.
The Witcher is one of the greatest games I've ever played, espcially in recent years. The setting is refreshing, the combat is solid for an RPG, the character customisation and upgrade system is compelling, the choices you have to make throughout are actually thought-provoking - rather than just pantomime 'good or bad' - and it has one of the most memorable endings I've seen in a game.
This was the closest anything has come to replicating the Deus Ex experience for me - no mean feat considering Deus Ex is the pinnacle of gaming history.
Yeah, developers like CD Projekt are a dying breed. Too bad, but I'll enjoy this kind of stuff while I can! :D
EDIT: I just read some of the comments further down the page. :-(
I hate when good games get canceled.
My nerdy example of a previous good game getting canceled is Stargate Alliance. I almost cried out in anger when I heard about this game being canceled. If I remember right, it was canceled due to financial fueding between two developer studios that were working on it at the time. Damn was I way too hyped up for that game. I learned that bitter lesson though.
