I mean I heard they were basically done with this game, then they started over or something, but I haven't heard anything else. It's been in development for awhile, yet I hear no news.

    Anybody know what's up?
    Estimated Release Date?

They realized that the concept was stupid (and probably poorly implemented, given Ubisoft's recent track record) and decided to start from scratch. I doubt it'll release before 2010. If it does, don't expect something day-1-worthy.

It has been delayed until fiscal year 2009-10. I would expect to hear something at E3 if not before hand

I think he probably just disliked Assassin's Creed.

I'm surprised they would start from scratch, but I believe Jayge. This is entirely possible, Assassin's Creed was an impressive money maker for Ubisoft. Enough so that they have the resources to scrap their progress and hit the drawing board. And despite the consensus around here, I think AC is a damn good game.

At least that is what I got , Ubisoft is pretty successful ;  Prince of Persia , Tom Clancy games , Assassin's creed , are all kick ass in my opinion

They ran into some trouble negotiating the Brian Ekberg license.

Brian Ekbergs schedule is busy, his only free day to do Motion Capture is in 2010.

EDIT: Damn it, LordAndrew. You beat me.

Idk, you'd think they'd have the majority of the ideas and character models worked out and they'd have the base of a game to build off of (the scrapped one), is that unlikely that they could release it within 3 years of the projected release date (original was 06 no?)

The real story was that they built everything from scratch, it resembled something like Assassins Creed, the problem was, when Assassins Creed was released it blew the game out of the water. So I believe they've had to start completely from scratch, including the creative process that proceeds a game.

    bah, I get ya.

I figured they'd just have to redo some maps and char models.

I wouldn't be surprised if they up'd the engine to the Scimitar Engine (Assassin's Creed engine). They're using Unreal Engine 2 - obviously heavily modded, but still.

What direction is Splinter Cell going to take after Assassin's Creed is a better question.

indeed, I'm not really sure where they'd go.

The ending of the last one could kind of go in alot of directions.

I hope this iteration of Splinter Cell is better than Double Agent.  That game did not live up to my expectations at all.

I agree, it's not Sam Fisher if he doesn't voice it.

I didn't have any real expectations for the game, I just sort of came upon it lol. I rented it but I thought it was pretty good. Didn't like the colored dot on your back being the deciding factor but I could see why they couldn't include all the other gadgets to some extent.
