Sam Fisher has a message. It's from AMERICA. 2
Originally posted on my newly created website, Jormungamer.com Sam Fisher is a man who has lost the thing he loved most in this world, and he will stop at nothing to exact his vengeance on anyone and anything that stands in his way, be it paid PMC mercenaries, or a plethora of light bulbs. The story of Splinter Cell: Conviction takes Sam Fisher everywhere from the country of Malta to the steps of the Lincoln memorial as he searches for the people responsible for the death of his daughter, ...

Sam Fisher is back and better than ever 0
Sam Fisher may have lost his daughter, killed his best friend and seen his life begin to unravel, but his troubles are nothing compared to the tumultuous few years Splinter Cell: Conviction has endured. After a debut trailer depicting an old, downtrodden Sam Fisher - long hair and beard in tow – involved in hand-to-hand combat in broad daylight, the team at Ubisoft Montreal took early criticism on board and carried Conviction back to the drawing board for some much needed redesigning. The...

A competent cover-based, stealth action shooter! 0
Sam Fisher’s story finally reaches an epic climax. His return is a triumphant, bloody, well-paced gaming experience that once again twists and turns around the activities of Sam’s parent agency Third Echelon. In this ‘conclusion’ to the Sam Fisher story, we rejoin our hero on an adventure of discovery through his past missions. It relates not only to the death of his daughter, but also recalls events as far back as the very first game. The story is all about revenge; Sam is ‘Re-activated’ by...

Why 'Conviction' failed to get 5 stars 7
Note: This is not a comprehensive review. It is meant to point out the difference between this game and its predecessors. I felt this necessary as it is the only aspect of the GiantBomb review that remained unclear.Truth be told, 5 stars was well in reach for Ubisoft Montreal.Though the gameplay takes a decidedly different approach from its predecessors, it is still a satisfying experience for both newcomers and fans of the series. The story and events draw the player in immediately. A father de...

Not Quite Splinter Cell...but Very Much Awesome 0
Sam Fisher, epic bad ass, has returned. And this time, he is after his daughter that he believed had been dead all of these years. Fisher has left Third Echelon and wishes to be left alone...but, as seems to be the case with highly trained killing machines, reality keeps dragging him back into the fray. It turns out that the same thugs who killed his daughter are now planning a major attack on the nation's capitol, and Sam is called back into action to head them off at the pass. Now, suff...

Splinter Cell meets the Bourne Trilogy 0
Coming into this game I knew what to expect, I've been following the game since E3 2009 when the first gameplay of it was shown since its mysterious disappearance. It was obvious that it wasn't going to be the same type of story, same type of character, same type of gameplay that Splinter Cell fans have come to expect. The question is were the changes for better or for worse? Well, if you're a hardcore Splinter Cell fan who won't accept any change at all, you will be disappointed. However, i...

Sam Fisher is Jack Bauer? 0
Intro. The day or two before Splinter Cell: Conviction was released I had told myself that i would definitely not buy this game. With reviews claiming the game lasts 5 hours, i saw no incentive to buy it immediately. I decided that i would just wait until it price dropped. Well, the Friday after release i ended up finding it for $42.99. Decided what the heck, it looks like a lot of fun and is getting solid reviews and everything. Thankfully, i made a great decision. Splinter Cell: Conviction Review 2
If I described a game in which you, the stealthy predator of the night, hunted down rather chatty evil-doers on your vengeful and righteous quest to incapacitate a monster of a big-bad, you might be forgiven for thinking I was talking about Batman: Arkham Asylum. If I described a game in which you, the bad ass hero search for your lost family member, all while ripping apart everything in your path with your bare hands, you'd be oddly (and eerily) on the mark if you spit out playing a P2 on ...

Wavering Conviction 0
Sam Fisher is back in Splinter Cell: Conviction and not only have the rules of the espionage game changed, but so has the game that players have come to know and love. SPOILER ALERT: If you have not played the previous Splinter Cell games, be warned that there may be references to previous events of the Splinter Cell series. Splinter Cell: Conviction opens up with Sam Fisher sipping a drink in Malta, a small island nation in the Mediterranean, as he tries to piece back together his life afte...

http://www.thesystemaddicts.com/ http://twitter.com/systemaddicted Splinter Cell: Conviction Review 360, PS3 Purist may want to reconsider, for without an open mind and willingness to accept something different from a rather storied franchise you’ll miss out on one of the most polished and exquisitely transacted action games in years. Splinter Cell: Conviction doesn’t recapitulate Sam Fischer’s old form of probing path finding and doesn’t penalize or reward meticulous trial and error. Inst...

Mark & Execute your way to the Truth in Splinter Cell: Conviction 0
Splinter Cell Conviction has been in development for quite some time as we all know, and the game has gone through some major changes from it's story, character design, and traditional stealth game-play. It's finally here and I believe it is the best game in the franchise as it keeps a great balance between the stealth and action and includes some great co-op features that will keep you busy for quite some time. Fisher is back, and this time things get personal. Fisher is Finally Back an...

You're An Angry Man, Sam 0
He betrayed his friends, he lost his job, and now his daughter is presumed dead. Sam Fisher is an angry man. Some would think his rage is justified, but is it really? Ubisoft thinks so, with their long awaited next installment of the Splinter Cell franchise. Their newest romp, Splinter Cell: Conviction, abandons, for the most part, the old silent-as-the-grave gameplay of it’s predecessors, instead playing more like a third person shooter with some basic stealth elements. Taking outland...

splinter cell improved 8
This is gonna be a work in progress So far i have managed to get through 4 chapters of the game and i enjoy sam fishers lastest outing the most, i have never been a fan of the old splinter cell games up through double agent they felt like they were metal gear solid games to a certain extent, but they changed so much in this game without it feeling like they got rid of anything. I love the ability to interrogate people move them around and use objects to abuse them into saying stuff, also being...

You got your Bourne Conspiracy in my Splinter Cell 0
Introduction Welcome to the new age of Stealth/Action gaming. Splinter Cell Conviction offers a huge overhaul to the coveted franchise which has been in dire need of refreshing. A more plot driven style means a little less subtlety Now with 10x more ACTION and a lot more tension. Game play drastically changes, both for better and worse. Graphically superior to previous installments, yet not quite the prettiest title on the market. And as has been stated many times before; "The Sam ...

Ubisoft Montreal Reworks Another Franchise to Polarizing Effect 0
Ubisoft Montreal has a knack for working over franchises to a polarizing effect. They did it two years ago with Prince of Persia and again now with Splinter Cell: Conviction. This represents a dramatic diversion for the series that could represent a groundswell of gamers finally able to fully enjoy and live the life of the trained killer known as Sam Fischer. Splinter Cell: Conviction, for the first time in the series, lets you play stealth or action and not one in spite of the other. Stealth ...

Not my favorite Splinter Cell game, but still a good game. 0
I've played all the previous splinter cell titles. Even when double agent came out, i played both the original xbox version and the PC/360. I appreciated more the original xbox version as it felt closer to Chaos Theory which was then and now is still my favorite splinter cell game. This one plays much more like a shooter. It's about as deep into stealth in batman arkham asylum, which is to say it's present but not the entire focus of the game. If you wanted to you could likely shoot your wa...

Pros and Cons: Splinter Cell: Conviction 0
Sam Fisher's back in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction with a whole lotta vengeance and whoop-ass. It's a more personal story that takes Sam on a journey to find his daughter's killer as well as high-stakes mission to protect our great country from the very company he helped create, Third Echelon. Pros: - Mark and Execute works fantastically and is feels pretty rewarding when you pull off a four-man kill. - Gameplay flows at a breakneck pace yet never feels overbearing. - Projective sc...

More of the same 0
Deniable Ops: Insurgency just expands the coop game play with four more maps. If you liked the coop that came with the game you will probably like this. The achievements sort of act like the in game challenges making you get specific kinds of kills in specific locations. But even on Realistic and going for the achievements it seems a little short (2-3 hours with decent partner) for $10 however it may be worth it to get the S rank. ...

The best co-op game of 2010, and a strong stealth/action title. 0
The Sam Fisher we once knew is gone along with his tremendously skillful abilities to slink around in the shadows and carry out orders for the NSA sub-branch agency known as Third Echelon. Instead were giving in favor a vengeance seeking rouge agent on a personal vendetta to pursue the man responsible for the death of his daughter. Conviction is more than a new outing in Ubisofts long running stealth/action series Splinter cell-- its a more fierce gameplay experience that gives players a lot of ...

Co-op Only! Sam Fisher Need Not Apply. 0
Since I have not played and do not intend to play through the single player campaign, this review is only for the co-op mode for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction. Story There is no Sam Fisher in co-op, instead you play as Archer, an agent of the Third Echelon, and Kestrel of the Russian counterpart of Third Echelon known as Voron. You must help each other through the thick and the thin and covertly complete your mission objectives. The idea intreged me enough to want to play th...

A great game, A sub-par stealth game- 2
Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid have always been the two stealth game franchises that went head to head in each console generation. In MGS4 Kojima, went for a more action focused game rather than stealth, Ubisoft has followed suit with Splinter Cell Conviction. The story sets Sam fisher as a rogue agent working against third echelon to find his daughter whom he believed dead. The story is actually fairly straightforward and lies somewhere between Jason Bourne and Classic Tom Clancy as far a...

Sam Fisher is a brand new man, for better or worse 0
Sam Fisher is a new man, and for some his change might be a little too drastic. In the latest installment of the Splinter Cell series, we find Mr. Fisher quietly going bananas in Malta, only to quickly find even madness won’t save him from his past. After the death of Sarah, Sam retires from his long and devout career. This, however, changes as he reunites with Anna Grimsdóttir (a.k.a. Grim), who has some news regarding his daughter. While the story is compelling, nothing is too shocking ...

A case of stolen (or rather forgotten) identity. 0
Conviction is a hard game to enjoy mostly for it's lack of anything that made the first three games interesting. It feels like a game lacking identity which is upsetting as it delivers an interesting story albeit through the guise of a twitchy cover-based shooter. If there is one thing the games industry lacks is contemporary stealth games that don't feel too far from home. Something that feels like it almost certainly could happen a day or a month down the line. That's why I enjoy the Splinter C...

MUST BUY!! 2
Sam Fisher is back and better than EVER! Execution shots and weapon upgrades really make this game worth buying. The story is awesome and there are more ways to sneak around from place to place. The "last known position" feature in this game is very cool and your enemies continue to shoot where you were even though you may have moved. This leaves time for you to flank them and shoot them in the back. Splinter Cell Conviction has great new features while keeping the gadgets form the previous game...

Short but Sweet 0
It was about the time that I felt the pistol at the back of my head, a classic FN Five-seveN judging by the the barrel. How was I able to discover the gun just by feeling the barrel at the back of my head? Look, there are only about three different pistols in this game that have silencers, two are useful later in the game, and one of them was made for the Russian army. "You think you can just get away with judging this game less than perfect?" The man flicked the safety on and off for emphasis....

A diamond with numerous rough spots 0
Splinter Cell established itself as a realistic stealth game in the previous generation of consoles. The series prior to Conviction was strictly a stealth game, based on mostly "trial and error". Missions were somewhat linear and they all have their limitations. The story itself is nothing too glamorous and hardly fascinating at all, filling with a bunch of what the writers consider "plot twists" when most of us saw the events coming. But still, it had its own group of dedicated fans. However...

Is conviction another great Clancy game? 0
The Splinter Cell series has been going on for some time now. It's been rather awkward. There were hits like Chaos Theory and dips like Double Agent. Is the next long-awaited splinter cell good enough to top the list? Is this game worth it since I have been waiting for it for so long? We hear you ask, (god damn delays). The answer is yes. Splinter Cell Conviction lives up to it's expectations. Sam Fisher is back and is working with Victor Coste and get back at Third Echelon. You will start...

Growing pains 0
I'll be honest- I've never cared for the Splinter Cell series before. In fact, I've never cared for any game that you could, with any amount of credibility, call a "stealth" game. It's just not my style of game, but when I heard that Splinter Cell: Conviction was taking the series in a more action oriented direction I thought would give it a shot. The result is a mixed one that manages to combine some brilliant ideas with some pretty dumb design choices, all of which ultimately left me feeling p...

An excellent reimagining of a beloved franchise 0
As a long time SC veteran, it was with a mix of excitement and trepidation that I approached Splinter Cell: Conviction. The changes to the formula were significant and I wasnt sure how I would feel about them until I actually got my hands on the game. Having completed the single player campaign, here are my impressions of Splinter Cell Conviction for the 360. Hopefully these points will be useful to those folks out there who are long time SC fans but aren't sure about the new game: · ...

A Splinter Cell not for fans 0
Coming into this series with a bad taste of steath in my mouth I was skepical. I was not a big fan of the older Splinter Cells, and when tasked to play Co-Op with my friends I was the reason we failed. Reading the previews sold me on the game and I can say that It was money well spent (for the most part). Not having played the other games I was thrown into the world of Sam Fisher with little investment. This was changed when the game throws images of your dead daughter on the walls as you ba...

Splint Cell: Conviciton Review- Warpzone Gaming 0
Splinter Cell: Conviction isn’t your normal Splinter Cell game. Sure, it still stars Sam Fisher. The spy organization Third Echelon is still here. And you can still jump out of the shadows to snap a neck or two. But for one thing that’s the same there are two things that they’ve changed. Movement and interactions with the environment are much smoother and streamlined. You’re fighting against Third Echelon, instead of working for it. But mostly, there is much less of an emphasis on using stealth....

It’ll hardly stick with you after you’re done with it 0
I’ve been a huge fan of the Splinter Cell series ever since the first one was released and I’ve grown to know and respect Sam Fisher throughout the years. And that is why I feel that this iconic videogame character deserved better. I tried to convince myself that “Double Agent” had been a fluke and not the beginning of the end for the stealthy franchise, but truth be told, “Conviction” is nothing more than a capable third-person action adventure game. The storyline is feeble and dull and it is o...

Splinter Cell: The Uncharted edition 0
Splinter Cell Conviction continues the Tom Clancy series pushing the stealth action into a new direction. Its a risky move but its the right direction. Unfortunately it doesn't follow this direction all the time and you can tell the developers are trying to keep up with other action games when it starts to throw the player in more action sequences than stealth sequences. Like other games in the series, the game follows Sam Fisher who gets back into working ex-echelon people who need help disar...

Splinter Cell Veteran 0
I consider myself a Splinter Cell veteran. This game is simply amazing. I love the interrogation because it adds to the suspense As for the markers used to assassinate your opponent they are sweet but it seems too easy/ I can understand to have it on the lower difficulty levels but not realistic because realistic makes things more challenging. And the sonar goggles are a little overboard making it so that even the most rookie of players able to take down a room full of armored enemies with a...

Near perfect mix of stealth, action, story and revenge. 0
The best sleeper of the year and possibly game of the year for me. Many games I find myself bored before I even finish them and I feel like I need to force myself to complete them. Splinter Cell: Conviction was far from a forced finish. I thoroughly enjoyed playing every mission in this game. It seemed to have a beautiful balance of stealth and action while leaning towards more action, which I prefer. The variety of the levels kept everything fresh and the fantastic graphics made it even better....

One of the stronger releases in the series 0
Admittedly my level of excitement over the Splinter Cell series has dwindled since the first release that seemed to take on a more realistic style than its main counterpart at the time (Metal Gear Solid), which is why I appreciated it so much. I also miss the original Sam Fisher that was meant as more of an aged/retired character coming back to the CIA for one more mission, and in every sequel he just seems to get younger and younger looking. The coop is great, there are some really fantastic se...

I enjoyed playing this, as I did with the ones before. I did miss his sense of humor, as well as the cool hang from the pipe and break peoples necks moves. I also thought it would've been longer. A Fresh Start to an Already Awesome Franchise 0
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth installment in Ubisoft’s long running stealth action series starring Michael Ironside as veteran spy Sam Fisher. The team at Ubisoft Montreal have made significant changes to the game’s trial and error formula, opting for a much faster paced action/stealth hybrid. Does this dramatic shift in style teach this old dog some new tricks, or is Splinter Cell past its prime? Conviction’s single player story picks up roughly three years after the eve...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss 0
What follows is a review of the single-player campaign only. Despite its critical and commercial success, I never got around to playing a lot of Splinter Cell. Sure, I dabbled in a little of the original title on a buddy's PS2 many moons ago but quickly found that game to be unforgiving and too reliant on trial-and-error. In other words, it wasn't very fun. Fast forward to 2010 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. The pre-release buzz seemed to indicate that Ubi...
