Right after I saw him, I told the chat I was waiting for a Chuck Norris joke. Didn't get one, but did get a Charlie Sheen and "epic fail" joke, so there's that. But really, he reminds me of painful 90s humor, from his Wayne's World "flashback sound" to his overall Chandler Bing/Xander Harris attitude and inflection.

In Defense of Mr. Caffeine
I guess Joel Mchale became too big to do the Ubisoft Conference. Given France's penchant for bad taste in humor I bet they think Mr. Caffeine is a comedian on the same level as a Louis C.K. or a Patton Oswalt.

Pretty much what I thought. I don't fault the guy for having energy, but his humor was dated and stale. He was like someone who had watched a bunch of internet memes for the first time and was trying to retell them to all his friends, way past the jokes due date.
You just dont need someone trying to be funny at a press conference. Kevin Butler might be an exception.
Ubisoft's conference was the best at E3. They were totally insane, French, and full of doodly doop. The only people who could not appreciate the Ubisoft conference are srs bsns douchebags who have their foreheads hooped by their assholes.
I didn't see the conference but from what I saw of the clip they had in the E3 wrap up video he seemed like a complete failure. But I can't imagine him being as boring as James Cameron was talking about his movie for 40 minutes that I had no interest in seeing nor any interest in playing the game based on it.
I agree with you 100%.
I enjoyed Mr. Caffeine. Yes he was incredibly doofy, but he was a doofy I could totally get behind. Sure, the one instance of him saying "epic fail" was... bad. It was just bad. But other than that one instance, I honestly thought he made a fine host. He was just such a ridiculous character that it just gave the whole conference a lax feel, which honestly I would much prefer than an overly serious one. Because you know, games are serious business and all that.
Now of course as just about any and everything on the internet goes, this is just an opinion. If you don't agree with me at all, hey, that's cool too. But you at least have to admit the Ubisoft press conference was far from being the worst conference these past few years.
It was like your dad trying to be hip by using a bunch of words and phrases he saw on some teen-centric sitcom. Mr Caffeine was "Johnny Xtreme" made real. I sort of dug the French guys being all weird and silly with their "Ubi or not Ubi" humor, but Mr C felt artificial and manufactured to appeal to the 14 to 25 demographic.exactly what i'm thinking, it was rarely natural
the ubi or not ubi part actually was natural since it was improvised, not part of a script
still better than last year's kevin butler's speech at least, that was reeking of corporate marketing ('i love gamers')
it's funny how jack tretton, an actual 'suit', talks natural & is down to earth, just like yves & all the devs as well
That dude apparently has a website, kinda curious...
Edit:here we go.
I've also begun to visualize all the terrible things that butt out device could do, should I seek help?

Trying to defend Mr. Caffeine is equivalent to being a Hitler sympathizer. There. I said it.

People who say he did a good job can have their opinions but those opinions are also crazy and also wrong.
These. Fucking cringed every time he was onstage talking. I'll turn off Ubisoft's press conference if this dude is back next year.
