Bullet Point Review: Ultimate Spiderman (GC)
What I liked:
Cutscenes - The story unfolds like you're reading a comic book, complete with moving stills and artwork. It's really quite well done.
Venom - Back in the early/mid 90's I was a huge comic book fan/collector, and Venom was one of my favs. In this game you get to play as him, and it's pretty fun.
What I didn't like:
Length - I finished off the story mode in under 6 hrs. Not the longest game in the world.
Chase mode - There are different objectives in the game trying to keep up with Venom as he bounces around the city. The problem is if you fall too far behind the mission ends and you gotta start over. Well because the A.I. doesn't make mistakes and makes every jump perfectly, I had to literally start over 20 or so on various chase missions.
Guest appearances - Being as this is a Marvel game set in the Spiderman universe I was expecting other beloved superheroes to be coming out of the woodwork. Sadly that was not the case. There are some, but nearly as many as I was expecting.
Missions - The missions here definitely suffer from serious repetition. They just needed to be more diversified. You basically do the same 4 or 5 missions over and over again.
Summary:
Ultimate Spiderman isn't a bad game, it just needs more to it. It has a nice comic book-type feel to it, but it needs to be longer and have different objectives.
Overall I'd give Ultimate Spiderman (GC) a below average score of 2.5 out of 5.
Edit: Please note for some reason I can't get the stars to just rate it 2.5.
