E3 2013: What Was Once Versus XIII is Now Final Fantasy XV

Wow, this is how I feel about Sci Fi and gaming in general..

This is really the only thing out of E3 I am looking forward to. Being a PC gamer makes everything look like shit.

Fuck I thought I was done with Final Fantasy as a series. It turns out that changing up the genre is exactly the right way to pique my interest again.

I guess I should stop hoping for there ever to be an old school turn based Final Fantasy game again eh?

Im not much of an FF fan but this looks actually kind of good and from what I see its a storyline I can get interested in

@tangoup: GT7 will be for the PS7 in 2027, and require you to buy the Microsoft McClaren with in game and real money. It will be a mash up of GT6 assets and Mario Kart 7 assets. Awkward, but when all of Japan's publishers unite Voltron-style in 2020 to fight off the Apple gaming TV powered by Bing, weird things happen.

Really, all I want is the story to not require two forums, a FAQ, a shaman and 4 million codex pages to decipher. That was the worst part of 13 for me (well... Snow and hope were also annoying and terrible characters with bad dialogue. All te dialog in that game was blah)

I tried to play XIII, But there was just too much anime bullshit and I think I outgrew active time battles. But if the gameplay is actually fun I think I could be nostalgiac for some anime bullshit.

Well, atleast they have a gameplay trailer after 7 years. Gran Turismo developer PD must be hating Square Enix for breaking their record.

I've been replaying FF6, and the best part about that game is how it barely takes itself seriously.

Modern FF's could use a lot of that nowadays, because I don't think they've got the writers to pull off something legitimately dramatic anymore.

I wasn't interested in this when it was XIII, but now that it is XV I will totally get it. It's got names that are vaguely of a Western spiritualism feel. It's got androgynous boys with guns touching each other. It's got old men with wry smiles, and a whole ton of jibber jabber to boot.

Versus XIII always looked more interesting than XIII. Like a slightly more mature Kingdom Hearts.

This look absolutely amazing, but they are spending way too much time and money making these games. Kudos if this actually turns out good, but the flashy, over the top stuff isn't what I come to Final Fantasy for.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but games with that budget and development timeline have a bad record.

Yea, after the complete shit stain FF13 was, Its going to take a lot to get me back in. Square has just dug a hole where I dont respect or care for them as a developer anymore.

Is this an action game or a turned based game? If action--I'm all in.

I haven't been so hot on anything Final Fantasy since after X, but this looks dumb and over the top in a way I can totally get behind. And damn pretty as well.

The Final Fantasy series is nothing but reboots.

there's a behemoth from FF13 in there, was that a new model? or new textures? a lot of FF13 had PS2 assets on them.

Once again FF has sold me on a system just don't let me down this time around.

I found no joy at all in X, and it's the first game they made a direct sequel to. That's when I knew they had given up on the tone and style of IX. And maybe, from a business standpoint, they made the right call. Maybe folks like you and I are too rare to pay the bills. But I'm still a little disappointed.

What does that even mean? Just dropping the numbers? There's no continuity among the franchise, so what would get carried backwards to the beginning of the "reboot?"

I don't understand how this is a real thing with graphics that are really rendered on the PS4... insanity on many levels. I can't wait.

this looks fucking gorgeous and XII was an amazing game, 13-2 was pretty good and I have high hopes for Lightning Returns, but I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this.

Edit: XBOX ONE?! Now I don't even need to buy a PS4.I can't even contain my excitement.
