I love mario platforming, I enjoyed new super mario bros for ds, I'll be purchasing this.

Nintendo's approach to Mario is pretty much unique.
 
While other studios focus on adding dispensable plots, rebooting the characters or awkwardly hammering in the mechanic du jour to stay relevant, Nintendo is releasing a game that someone who just woke up from a 24 year long coma could instantly get to grips with.
 
Even after refining the same game for two and a half decades they haven't lost the vibrancy and playfulness that made it so enjoyable the first time around. I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm already annoyed by the jump sounds.

Looks like a SNES game. Poor Wii. It's sad when the best selling game for a console is hardly a game at all.

I don't even own a Wii but I'd love to play this.

You know, I wanna say I've played this game before.

I fail to see why people are outraged or disappointed at a 2D sidescrolling Mario game that isn't even released yet.

i cant believe that it took Nintendo 11 years? since the release of Super Mario 64 that a new 2d sidescroller would be a fucking good idea, keep these coming!  but, some part of me still wishes they had used a super high res 2d engine instead, to capture the cartoony look better.  looks great, but oh man, imagine super mario world looking super sweet, like braid.  Amazing.

Mario Galaxy had an Ice Flower WAY before this!

Actually starting to get a little bit excited about this one, but that has to be the worst title ever. Why not call it Super Mario Bros. 4? It would add a ton of prestige and nostalgia to the game, not to mention it has four player co-op. Double Meaning!!

I really hate the run animation in the newer Mario games. It's like Mario is leaning back and swinging his arms straight out to the side. It also looks like he's sliding on ice all the time. Just doesn't look right and like it could be distracting / detrimental to timing jumps.

MARIO

It doesn't show any multi-player power-up grabbing action. Does the game still pause the action for EVERYONE as a player power-ups?

Getting this for my Girlfriend for Christmas. That house will go up in flames if her family plays it together.

I thought this was going to basically be New Super Mario Bros. again, but it looks like it's much more than that. Man, this game deserves a much better title than what they're giving it. Who thought it would be a good idea to append "Wii" to the end of game titles?
