Infinite Crisis Is a New DC Comics MOBA from Turbine

Not sure if previous posters were being sarcastic so I have to ask: what is wrong with the term MOBA? Is there some controversy over the term? Is it a dilution thing, like with the term "rogue-like"?

First Guardians of Middle Earth, now this? WB Games really wants that MOBA money, huh...

I'm interested in seeing what universes they end up using.

So if major server changes happen, is it because Superboy Prime punched a wall?

So when do we reach complete MOBA saturation in the market? Is anything going to actually challenge LoL or DotA?

These graphics look older than Warcraft 3, geez.

You can see the mouse cursor in the top right of the screen during some clips.

I like Turbine and still play Lord of the Rings Online, despite the F2P creep and the shitty in-game store being pushed like crazy ever since they got purchased by WB. But this just looks incredibly phoned-in. I'm guessing nobody at Turbine particularly wanted to make this game, but since they're owned by WB now, they don't have a choice. I imagine that's the only reason Monolith got saddled with Guardians of Middle-Earth, too.

Wtf? Does no one like comic books any more? This seems like a perfect fit for the brand and the medium. And why are people such huge babies about MOBAs? Nearly every post mentioning the genre is a whine.

Maybe, but I seriously doubt it will replace dota 2 for me. Specially since I dont like DC stuff...

Is this game being derived from DC Universe Online code?

I've often wondered why none of the F2P games have never built single-player campaigns to be distributed & sold to the world using the same code as the F2P game. After the game starts dropping in value, they can just incorporate it into the F2P universe for any player to dig into, thus increasing content, make some changes & variants to entice users to get into the F2P version (for a small fee).

Guardians of Middle Earth was completely fine, I really enjoyed it. For those who don't have gaming PCs (or don't want to be yelled at by veterans of LoL or DOTA) it was a great jumping off point on consoles, and affordable to boot. Hell, it was free for PlayStation Plus for awhile.

Also, there's obviously no agreed upon acronym for this right now, certain people say LOMA certain people say MOBA, and if this is really an argument you think is worth having...

Interesting how there are two other "correct terms" for this type of game: LoMa and AoS, neither of which I've heard of. But then, MOBA is a term that I know (hell I even know what it stands for), and it let's me identify what type of game it is. Why is MOBA is a shunned term, when it is likely the most widely recognized name for this genre?

It's because the DC name doesn't do anything in terms of game sales. Names like Batman, Superman, etc, do, and if those characters are plastered all over the box art that's what people are going to notice.

Obviously alot of people out there know these characters, but in my experience when it comes to the average public, or the people that are just going to see the movies, most of them don't know/care what company owns what character or is putting out what product.

Marvel on the other hand is in a bit of a different boat given that they had their name attached to games for years now, ie Marvel Vs Capcom, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, etc, etc. DC never got to that point, which is no knock or DC or saying that Marvel is better or whatever, but more that outside of the Arkham games DC has had a worse track record or a more difficult time in the gaming world than Marvel has.

Interesting choice of story arc to base the game off of.I'm interesting in Batman and friends.Really,this game should had been called Batman:Universe due the having so much Bat-characters.The game doesn't even have Superman, or maybe they're just holding him off

It does offer new things. I took a look at the website, the environment appears to be destructible and there's are events that change the arena. The game heavily focuses on story which is uncommon for an MOBA game. I'm curious about the story.

I'm interesting on how they're going to name the items. They're going to the names off comic related objects.I expect to see "Superman's Lucky Cape", or Wonder Woman's Mighty Tiara."

I'm familiar with the story and I can see where this is heading. I'm sure this guy is the big boss monster of the game .

I learned my Wacky Crazy DC Characters lesson from Gotham Imposters. I'll take that lesson to the grave.
