This makes me more confident in my preorder and may end up using my Xbox One for more than games. I'll eventually get a PS4 but feeling confident about my early choice.

Edit: Also, the Game Clip thing looked AWFUL. Is there a way to just record a clip without having all these dumb effects being shoved into it? And also, how long can it record? PS4 takes 15 minutes of previous video.

This is the first impressive thing I've seen from the Xbox One. I wish they'd just stop trying to feed us bullshit and did more of this. There's only so much PR nonsense I can take.

This looks great. Additional features and flexibility to integrate everything you want, and the ability to customize the interface if you just want to play games and games only. Something for gamers, something for everyone else if they want to be a part of this world.

For all the rumours and doomsday talk about this console, I have to say that I'm impressed by this practical demo.

@masterrain: It's not just GB. There has been a ton of talk about how the Xone's dashboard is completely broken, and how they aren't putting out any non-edited footage of it running. I think The Sess has been talking about that a lot too.

Man... this kinda sucks.

I'm getting both consoles, but I have some kind of weird mental thing going on where I always get multiplatform games on one specific system and only exclusives on the others. For instance, even though everyone said the PC version of Saints Row IV was so much better and I own a mid to high end PC, I still wanted to play it on 360 because that was my multiplatform machine.

I had just a few weeks ago decided to get multiplatform games on PS4 this next time. Simply because it appears to be the more powerful of the two systems, the controller has gotten as good as Xbox's and I can (final-fucking-ly) play co-op on the same system on my own account and keep my own stuff.

But after watching this (and as much as I dislike Yusuf for constantly talking about TV as if I still watch that and over-using the word magical), I really get the sense that Xbox is once again a step ahead of PlayStation in terms of a useful, and more importantly, smooth experience.

Meh, I don't want this decision to come down to either software or (slightly) more powerful hardware. The best solution is to get over my weird mental block that prevents me from buying a multiplatform game on a different system and just get multiplatform titles for the Xbox One, with the exception of when a game noticeably runs better on PS4.

But I can't get over that. I'm dumb.

Keep your laptop next to you when you play a game and you don't need any of this.

To be clear, I think all of the stuff in that video looked fantastic and seemed to work wonderfully. I'm not even getting an XOne either and I'm still really excited by it. So... it upsets me even more that MS just can't stop shooting itself in the foot by presenting their amazing stuff in the worst possible way.

Do these "magical moments" happen if I have few friends on Xbox Live and I never watch TV under any circumstances? And I have nobody I ever talk with on Skype? No, I don't believe they do.

I'm all about a slick, minimalist gaming interface that is snappy and gets me access to my games really easily. The 360 has become really bad about that and the PS3 is better, which is too bad because most of my games are on 360.

The only question I have is how much footage the "record gameplay" feature will be able to record. They didn't say any length of time in this video.

And there was no upload to youtube function mentioned.

That Kinect multi-player sign-in looks absolutely amazing. Maybe Microsoft do know a thing or two.

Seems legitimately cool and pretty fast. That said, I don't watch tv and all that NFL, Hulu, Netflix and whatever stuff is not available here. Also, XBox One doesn't come out here until some time next year. Also, who uses internet explorer. Also, this Microsoft guy is not friends with Major Nelson?

@masterrain: It is because this is a very controlled optimal environment. The description is being cynical because companies have previously made awesome videos and claims for things that don't really work as well as they say it would (for example the original Kinect).

Did anyone else read the text at the end? Is "Advanced TV Hardware" HDMI? Also Game DVR and Upload Studio are only in supported games :(

I still can't get over the fact that they see skype interrupting your life as a good thing. If I was watching football (UK) and somebody skyped me I'd be furious. The same goes for games and movies too. Also, does it pause the live TV when this happens if you have a DVR. If you can set that option it wouldn't be so bad and hopefully you can turn off all the social features if you don't want them at certain times.
