Mortal Kombat Gets Real?

Looks like a movie to me, but I've never played a Mortal Kombat game before, so who am I to judge?

god the end of that gave me chills, so damn awesome! i hope this is good

Whether it is for a movie or a game, I am totally for it.  If it is a movie, I will definitely see it.  If it's a game, I may buy it but who knows.

I watched it over at 1up.com earlier and was blown away. While I think attaching the MK name and it's characters is kind of silly, the movie looks like it could be awesome. Also, anything that gets me more Seven of Nine is good my books. I cant wait to see if she can pull off fighting. Interesting choice to make Scorpion the main character.

I'm assuming that with the high(ish) production values and the inclusion of the likes of Jeri Ryan, that this will be a movie "re-imagining".

YES! I think this most likely is a game, otherwise it wouldn't have gone into so much detail for some of the more minor characters and wouldn't have been in this style. No movie trailers are like this.

I would watch this movie.

I think people are getting a little too crazy all because they personally haven't heard about the movie, I've heard they had some legal problems regarding this movie back in January but that is was in development and being made.  
 
The alternative is that Mortal Kombat the game is now Command and Conquer, that just sounds ludicrous.

it's still MK - the characters are retarded, no matter what kind of back story they cook up.

If this was produced just as a promotional for the next game then it's the best of its kind. I'm hoping it turns out to be a movie of its own.

Kinda cool they're making all the fighters have somewhat realistic reasons for their superpowers and such. Pissed they already killed off Johnny since I love using him.

That is pretty crazy, and I find it hard to believe that that would be a movie because they just gave away then entire plot basically

The guy playing Jax (or "Jacks"), was one of the mobsters from the movie "The Dark Night" - he's the one that puts the bounty on the Jokers life after he crashes their meeting, and later gets killed before the Joker breaks a pool cue in half and has "tryouts" for his former bodyguards. 
 
His name is Michael Jai White.  He also played Spawn in the Spawn movie.
 
While he isn't a top-shelf actor, he certainly seems to be higher profile than simply filming game trailers...

What the fuck is this? It's not fake, no one would pay   Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan just for a goof. But that just deepens the mystery. I really, really hope they aren't making a new movie and this is just some high quality story FMV.

If it's a game, please let it have that cheesy look that the first two games had. Otherwise doesn't look too bad for a popcorn flick.

Movie or not that was pretty damn good. I wouldn't play a Mortal Kombat game I am not into fighting games but I would watch a movie like that though I still have my doubts about video game movies.

I hope they didnt spend all their budget on this awesome little movie.
