Nights Into XBLA, PSN, and PC

So I'm guessing this is just the PS2 version at a higher resolution.

Best news I've heard all morning, I love this game. Now, if only we could get a port of the Shining Force 3 trilogy and the Sakura Wars games, then we'd have something. And, while I know it's never going to happen, I'm still holding out for a Panzer Dragoon Collection, or better yet, a fifth game in that series.

Or hell, just another game with the battle system Saga had, I'm not that picky.

That Sega '51 logo just made me realize that I'm painfully unaware of Sega's history. I could tell you Nintendo's been around since the 1800's, but I thought Sega was a lot more recent.

YES! I only ever had a demo cd of this for the Saturn and have always wanted to play the full game but never got to. MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE!

So happy I'm buying this day one!

Ah, I've always loved NiGHTS, I try to play it every few years and it's always held up to me. This is an obvious purchase I'll be making in the future.

@Ett: Well there is no Dreamcast version, so... yes it's timeless. ;)

Let's put it this way: The Japan PS2 version of Nights has improved graphics, and a setting to switch back to the Saturn look.

@MrKlorox: Yes the controller (the original Circle Pad Pro ;) was also bundled with the game. It's a good thing the form factor of Saturn boxes was already huge. The Christmas levels were really just a precursor to DLC, don't consider it a full game, this added two new levels and art unlockables. "Released" is perhaps a misnomer, it was a bonus pack-in, using magazines in most regions. The original had certain seasonal variations, but I don't remember a total graphical overhaul like Christmas did. The PS2 version added more.

I guess I will finally get to see what was so special about this game.

Didn't this game have a lot of holiday hooks? Like pumpkins showing up around Halloween and a Christmas theme around its own holiday as well? I always thought it was weird as shit that they released a full on Christmas themed version of the game when the original had a sortof Christmas mode.
 
And wasn't this the game that Sega brought out their first analog controller for?

Don't get how anyone can claim that the gameplay has aged poorly.

A downloadable game that's based around score/time attacks with online leaderboard support? This style of game is probably more relevant now than when it came out.

I hope this includes Christmas NiGHTS and all the extras in it.

Then I can open Christmas presents by the fireplace to this tune again.

I'm sure it's exciting for old fans but I dunno, I've always felt Knights was pretty mediocre and I don't see time doing it any favours.

Awesome. NiGHTS has some of the best VG Music ever!

I never played any of the originals (before my time) and refused to touch the Wii version. This will be a great opportunity for me to play the franchise that I love the music from so much!

I've heard about the PDS source code somehow getting lost and have to wonder just how in the world THAT happened? I'll have to look up Mielke's article which will hopefully explain it since it's simply unfathomable to me that something digital from the mid- to late-90's could be completely lost forever in 2012.

As for NiGHTS, bring it on--I'm buying Day 1 assuming they don't screw anything up And leave the crappy, off-tune vocals intact!

I never played this the first time around... I should fix that.

Cool. Now if they can do this, they can do a port of Guardian Heroes for PC/PS3 as well.

And Die Hard Arcade and Burning Rangers! Actually, I imagine Burning Rangers will be a hassle to control with a 2012 mindset... I'm very curious to try it out again in any case.

I'm totally picking this up! Loved the B'jesus out of this game! My only request (which I'm sure its far to late to make a request) is to add online leader boards. since this game is based on generating the highest score (like the good old classic arcade days).

Such a fantastic game and. It's short to finish but difficult to master and has the exact amount of SEGA charm. The feeling of flight probably won't be as novel in the port as analogue sticks are all the range these days but back in 1996 the 3D Controller was a revelation.

I still fucking play christmas nights around every christmas IT better FUCKING be in this game so I dont have to pull out my saturn every year.

Christmas nights is better than normal nights in everyway even if there is only 1 level.

You know what fuck nights 3 make Christmas nights 2.

The Saturn, ahhh, the graphics on that console sometimes blew away the PS1 and the N64, it was just so damn hard to do it!

I think the biggest problem people have with NiGHTS is that they don't know what it is. It's a Time Attack, you learn the levels to get the fastest time. It's not an adventure game or platformer, its a race against the clock.

I remember playing a demo of this and not knowing what the hell I was supposed to do. It sure was colorful though.

This "Sega Vintage" label intrigues me. Hopefully they will get around to re-releasing all the Panzer Dragoon games, especially the RPG. I would buy the fuck out of those games!

This is almost exciting until you remember that NiGHTS wasn't a good game. Great music though.

As much as I used to enjoy playing NiGHTS, I can't see paying more than $5 to play it again and they'll almost certainly charge $10 or $15. I guess I'm waiting for a Steam sale.

I mean we have Flower on PSN already, but really they need to make a new one of these that is much more psychedelic, especially after games like Rez, Child of Eden, etc. also not like that Wii game.

It looks like they are just porting the japanese ps2 version. And in that version you just unlocked Xmas NiGHTS by getting A ranks on all courses with both characters.
