Wait, why is there 1 in the age option? And why am I denied the video if I choose it? They're one; if they figured out how to use a computer before they could sleep without pissing themselves, this should be their reward! Besides, it's not like they'll remember it or anything.

Age gates are based on the ESRB rating of the game/s, not necessarily the content of the video.  It's stupid, but it's easier than having to screen every video to see if it complies.  It's also done on a case by case basis since some videos go up without an age gate and have "objectionable" content, it comes down to how the publisher handles the clips they distribute.
