Something about this trailer just looks better than the R Mika one. Maybe its the lighting or something. Rashid looks dope though.

For what it's worth, Capcom did work with their distributor in the Middle East when making Rashid, so it's not pure stereotyping. Some people from the actual region were obviously cool with it, so hey, that's neat right? Plus they're doing full Arabic regionalization for the game, so they are showing they care.

Also anyone suggesting that it's tasteless of Capcom to reveal a character of Middle Eastern descent on 9/11 fucking sucks shit. I'm so sick of hearing that garbage, jokingly said or not.

This character was officially revealed on the 11th of September. Not 9/11. Be sure to say that correctly.

Rasid seems different and that's a good thing. SF has one of the most diverse movesets among core characters. I like Rashids anti-fireball spam moves.

Also, I hope his 'scouter' is not an indication of power levels.

Yep, it was revealed yesterday, because yesterday was the day Capcom conspired with the Taliban to host the Games15 Death to America Conference in the United Arab Emirates. Or rather, it was the day of the Games15 Conference, and Capcom made an announcement that appeals to the many, many attendees of the conference who are (a) Middle Eastern, (b) not terrorists and (c) love Street Fighter as much as we do.

Clutching your pearls over the date of the reveal when you know full well why it was revealed on 9/11 just looks purposefully obtuse. Aren't there enough real things to be outraged about without making up more?

Capcom is a Japanese company, they had nothing to do with 9/11 so I'm sure it didn't even cross anyones minds that making an announcement in Dubai on 9/11 that anyone in the US would care.

@steveurkel: This was discussed extensively when he was initially announced. They worked closely with their middle eastern fans to design the character. A lot of westerners called "stereotyping," largely unaware of their own ignorance of Saudi customs, which dictate fairly austere clothing choices.

Except it wasn't more so than he thought, because he was implying there was some nefarious intent when it's very much documented why the date is simply happenstance. Couch it however you like, but all you did was pile on to that nonsense.

Personally, I was delighted to learn about the Games15 Conference's existence, because I'd never heard of it before now. Stuff like this bridges gaps between otherwise distant cultures, and I wish there was more written about that conference than I've seen thus far.

They did actually wait for 9/12 with the international release. They first showed him in Dubai on 9/11, but nowhere else. So...yeah. It's sad, but a reality.

@mrmazz: He appears to generate wind with technology somehow. That backpack looks like a machine, so I guess the scouter is tied to that. I wonder if it's the same character designer that made C. Viper and techbased elemental attacks is just their thing.

Yo dudes, the sentiment about him looking like a Middle Eastern stereotype is well-intentioned, but sometimes people of a region actually do dress in a certain way due to religious or societal custom. This is one of those times.

he looks cool, but i would love to see them announce a more defensive character soon. i feel like the majority of the characters announced are mixup heavy rushdown characters.
